    You are a wonderful teacher .I have finally understood God's plans & purposes beginning from Genesis To 1 Samuel .He is a God who loves order & discipline. Thank you for helping me learn to live through the books of the Bible. I will begin 2 Samuel tomorrow. I am so excited & eager to listen, read & share God's word. I am grateful for the tremendous effort taken to prepare the videos from Genesis to Revelation.

    This has cleared up so much! I’ve learned so much and makes me check myself...to make sure I’m more like David as a Christian and to make sure I’m not like Saul. Thank you so much!

    I think David's reason for wanting to fight with the philistines was simply a war strategy. Its the balance theory of a triangle "The enemy of my enemy is my friend". As David couldnt kill Saul so, who better to do it then the enemy of a common enemy of philistines? But it was poetic that the x factor Amalekites killed him, as there was another angle to the battle.

    PASTOR PAUL, YOU HAVE BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN MY WALK BACK TO GOD, FOR THIS I AM AND WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL. I STARTED WITH YOU IN GENESIS AND HERE I AM IN SAMUEL. YOU HAVE BEEN AN UNPARALLELED TEACHER . HOWEVER PAUL EVERY TIME YOU REFER TO EVIL THINGS WITH THE WORD "BLACK" IT MAKES ME RECOIL WITH DISTASTE. BETWEEN GENESIS AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES. I HAVE COME TO KNOW YOUR HEART AND KNOW YOU MEAN NO HARM. HOWEVER YOUR CONTINUED USE OF THESE TERMS MAY INADVERTENTLY TURN SOME FROM THE LORD. MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS THE GLORIOUS WORK HE IS DOING THROUGH YOU. 🙏🙏🙏

    When I found Jesus as a little girl, my church put the lyrics of common day music on a big screen. We then had a bonfire and I burned my AC/DC albums that I had previously asked for as Christmas presents. My family made fun of me and called me an”holy roller”.

    I think David did it cause he was playing shepherd and herding the Philistines to Saul. To find favor with Saul....🤷🏽‍♂️

    Pastor Paul, I have a question for you. Would you please explain to me what David meant when he said, "Bring me the ephod?" I thought the ephod was a garment worn by the high priest. Here it makes it seem like an object that David talks to and it answer him.

    • @CalvaryChapelOntario
      @CalvaryChapelOntario  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi Stephanie. When David called for the ephod he was basically telling the priest, Abiathar to put on the ephod so David could inquire of the Lord. In the "breast piece of judgment" which was part of the ephod were kept the Urim and the Thummim, which the priest would use to determine the will of the Lord. We know very little about these items...only that in some fashion they helped to make God's will clear. But the Urim and the Thummim were just tools. It was the Lord, Himself that David was inquiring of. (See Exodus 28:30) If you have any follow-up questions feel free to email me directly. paul@ccontario.com. God bless you!!!
