- Hi Everyone! This week Agent 303 starts us off with a fantastic junkyard tour, and then we head over to the GCFCE for a look at a rare 1981 Chevrolet Bel-Air ex-RCMP wagon that was taken off the road in 1985, and we'll see if it'll start! Jim takes the R5 for a drive, and Agent 8771 shows us around his new shop, and Tom is here to drop off a 1984 Honda Big Red!

Best line credit this week goes to Jim in the R5: "You gonna part out a toothbrush and fix that?" Priceless. Dean justified his living legend status with his rapid fire ID of mouldering, snow covered rust piles. Bel Air start was astonishing. Great episode!
Dean got one Chevy and one Pontiac wrong in the whole monologue....and those by one year. Amazing.
Third week in a row with no Plymouth Fury.....
The Dean Machine's maniacal laugh while standing in a yard full of cars is just so enjoyable😂👍
He's doing a public service, better than being crushed.
I couldn't agree more, Dean's laugh while reviewing the rust gold was excellent!
Dean may have discovered his laugh has a similar effect on viewers that "What's up, Doc?" does for Bugs. There must be a temptation to give us one in every episode just because we want it.
Like going on an archeological dig with Dean.
"Here we have a late Cretacious Period Dodge..."
As these cars get older and older I find myself even wanting the 4 doors restored or saved. I get felling, a sense of urgency. Glad there's more people out there like you guys willing to save these.
Jim on Le Car, "what other compliments can I offer it...uh uh uh 🤣
Jim's humor is dryer than a square of shredded wheat. Very special indeed.
Thanks to Dean for the yard tour! It sure didn't take him long to find the Ltd's.
This guy has a great collection of ex cop cars and service vehicles! Some real gems in there.
I thought we were in a police storage yard.
My son got me a CWM coffee cup for my birthday.. So I'm happy. and he's back in the will..
Thank you guys so much for helping keep this show on the air! Cheers from here!
Thanks Dean for a really great Scrap Yard tour. Some truly interesting stuff plus you were sober the whole time.
Up-vote for a regular segment of ‘Dean’s Junkyard Crawl’.
the Newport is unreal, i still cant wrap my head around that being a winter beater.
@One Mans Treasures 64 New Yorker hardtop wagon here. Definitely Not stock
Dean, great junkyard tour. You’re like the rain man of mid century car identification!
Dean really knows his cars l am impressed.
That Chevy is epic! The ultimate winter beater. And can't wait to see the 440 RCMP Fury run. It made me remember that quote from Indiana Jones: "And I even like the color...".
Would like to have the 440 RCMP car
I thought the RCMP used horses?
Jim's comments always make me laugh!
The definition of a comic sneak attack. Dry as a bone, smart without being smart-alecky.
Jim is the man for sure
"You'll have to part out a toothbrush or something.."
At 8:57-Dean surveys a vast wasteland of automotive relquaria and says, deadpan: “His brother was a bit of a hoarder.” 🤣🤣🤣
1 person's hoarder is another ones "buying in bulk". I tell the wife "now I have a lifetime supply".
Good to see Tom again. I always have an ear to ear grin watching these videos.
What a great day for automobile history.
Driving around in an RCMP wagon with an open container.
Scott, you missed a Golden opportunity when Jim was sitting in the R5. You should have asked him, "What's it going to take to get you into this car today?"
Lol
ya gotta have a little diamond pinky ring to be a real salesman.
Straight up for the '56 Conti.
That's Dean's line! #GreasyFlips
Agree you should have offered to trade in for the 56 Lincoln. But since the Lincoln has the incorrect steering wheel I think that he should have to give you $1,000 + the Lincoln.
Guys working on beaters and drinking beer...good times!
i like how Dean could just rattle off make and year good job Dean continue
What a loaf of a car that BelAir is. Imagine my joy when I have never seen one and this thing is on video.
Dean really knows his shizz! Nice yard walk.
The spirit of Sgt Preston of the RCMP and his dog Yukon King are watching over the Bel-Air.
Other automotive youtube channels: "Here's yet another exotic supercar..." CWM: "here's a brown wagon that everyone hated from the 80's and its the best thing ever!"
Thumbs up Dean. You definitely made up for last weeks silliness! Thanks man.
I so get that the Newport is the go to car.
I appreciate what you had to do Myles.
Nice Beater.
Oh Scott you too buddy. Nice Touque❗
Am I Giraffe Snot, or is this Dirty Deans best episode?.??
You're NOT giraffe snot if it helps, I agree best one yet.
Not best, but most normal for sure.
Dammit!!!!!!! What the hell am I going to do at 5AM on Sunday? I'm gonna watch Cold War Motors!!!!!!!
The Newport should get its own TH-cam channel. I could listen to it idle for an hour or so once a week...
Base trim, base paint, base engine, base tires, base, base, base badass!
Loved the Dean Yard Tour and the cycle shop board meeting was epic but
However it all pales in comparison to Myles’ Port barking steady in the dark
Thanks guys for making life better for the rest of us
First off.. Dean's walk about was AWESOME!! That man knows a car or 2!!
Then the Bel Aire.. They were called Caprice's in the states.. Amazing that it started so easily.. Or anti-climatic as Scott said..
The Big Red.. That'll be fun!
Then the LeCar ride!! Awesome commentary! Lol. I almost spit my beer out when the toothbrush was brought up!!
Then the intervention!! LOL.. Love this channel!! You guys make it fun!!!
Peace my friends!!!
They were Impalas in the US, Caprice was more upscale with a different front.
Canada had Impalas and Caprices too. I think the Bel Air was the lowest-end hoser line, Canadian-Tire-style special, IIRC.
@@popincourt8058 Cool! The countless Canadian specials never stop to surprise me...
Awesome as ever. You can tell your all true friends as you rip the piss out of each other with big smiles on your faces.
Of the classics we’ve a plethora,
To The Crusher we’re anathema,
To the viewers we’re phenomena…
Or so the story runs.
We ain’t the dudes life meant to be,
On working nine-to-five you see,
But Freedom sure as hell ain’t free…
Unless you’re having fun.
The Unknown Poet
Dean, that little Ford appeared to be a mid-fifties Anglia 100e. It packed a whopping 71 cubes of flathead power. An unwary rice-pudding could have it's skin dragged right off!
Scott, Watching the R5 being drifted brought back some mild buttock-clench from my own experience in one. The difference was that my drift was while driving on a straight road and was completely UN-intentional! We don't get snow too often round here though so, short of hitting some spilled diesel, we don't get a lot of practice. I had an earlier R5, prior to the slider, that had the 'umbrella handle' gear shift, which came through the middle of the dash. TBH I preferred it to the floor change! It was just a 30" remote that connected to the top of the stick in the gearbox, that now was sitting right behind the grille. Wacky French engineering but it made clutch changing a doddle.
I prefer the dash gear change, feels more direct.
R4, R5, R6- same set-up. Excellent!
John Powell, nicely crafted response. inventive allusions. A+!
@@barrykochverts4149 : Kind of you to say so. I just wish I could pop my allusions out like Jim's boiler rivet. I'm about as quick as that 100e in the flesh!
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renault_6
The Newport sounds like music to my ears, wow. Can't wait for the Plymouth.
Oooh man I love that Bel Air wagon. Ever since I found out they kept that name around in Canada up until '81 one of my dream cars has been a '77-'79 Bel Air coupe with the goofy bent glass rear window and the straight six -- a fancy coupe with a "Stovebolt" just like the original 1950 Bel Air!
Deans junkyard tour yeah
Thank You Dean.
I love that van! 4 speed!
Dean needs his own you tube channel, I'm into ltds too and I'd watch it!!!
Thanks for another great Saturday afternoon entertainment
That Grand Am 😥. I always hated wagons as a kid, now I love them. Would drive the Bel Air daily and never paint it. The Newport is pure bliss. Bravo Myles 👍
Thanks Dean!!! I'm great at identifying cars from the 40s to 1970... after that I never kept track of styles and models. You're a savant on 70s and 80s!!!
Nice tour Dean.
That BelAir wagon is a sweetheart.
It was this or the girlfriend, I'll see her tomorrow I suppose
Like the new exhaust on the Newport.
Nice transition between the junkyard tour and turn up the base!
Jim makes his most polite attempt to review the R5 , his face tells the true story of how little he is impressed ...
Love the sound of that 383 in Myles Chrysler makes me want one again
Thanks Dean, so many cars I need!
Loved the junk yard tour, Dean! Amazing stuff. Those 58 Fords always speak to me.....
Me to. My first car in 1967 was a 58.
Dean wins the big beauty award for the week. LoL
Dean is a boss at naming vehicles-thanks Dean for sharing treasures with us!
Great Field Report, Dean!
Last week's comments were all full of hearts and emojis for the New port with no love for the R5! LOL This week's love for the R5 was seasoned with Jim's driving review ha ha ha. Field tour with Dean was great, and thanks to the boys for sharing their new purchase and their stash of x cop cars! Pretty awesome and a treat to see that Bel Air fire right up! Have a great week to the CWM's crew and Frankers!
On my vacation in February, I want to come to visit you guys. I can sand, weld, sweep and drink beer.
Better practice a few good bullshit stories, you'll fit right in.
Note: Only one of those things I do well.
I guess it's for smoking darts members only. ;-)
Can you audition for 'classic darts'?
So many things to comment about in this episode, but got to give it to Dean. Knowledgeable beyond reason and it’s as if he had the camera on a Steadicam!...at least until the show closing surprise...but over all just a solid presentation by Dean.
Dr. Rusty Dean at his finest, a miraculous Chevy Bel Aire brought back to life. The LeCar purring and sliding in the snow and a Suzuki 2 stroke 350 in parts. And a now growling massive Mopar. Great entertainment for your east Texas viewer. Stay as warm as you can. My feet just hurt watching you guys trudge around in that snow. Now warm sand is a totally different matter.
Dean, ya blew a gasket at the junkyard, just don’t blow a seal. The Newport sounds great 👍🏻 even with an exhaust.
I had a 1982 gold R5 when I was a student in Montreal. Loved it. Always started even in winter, thanks to the manual choke. Fun car to drive. Much more comfortable than any other similar small cars from that year. But yeah, wondering transmission. Fun fact: when Montreal was flooded in the 80s, it floated when I was stuck on the Decarie expressway (a sunken expressway in Montreal). I was stuck there during a fast flood on a July 14 (Bastille day). I kid you not, some people who where out of their cars pushed me to the Jean-talon exit. It started right up. Traded it in for a 88 Hyundai Excel. Miss that car....
Dean in scrap yard heaven, clearly having fun. The lads adding to their extensive police car collection, great to see that Bel Air. Jim testing the Renault, great feedback, glad you stopped him from putting too much stress on those "Fisher Price" plastics the R5 used for the interior. Looking forward to Stephen updating on the Saab
Thanks
Dean for sharing some threat classic cars 👍 Myles Newport just sounds like music to me.👍 love the sound of a v8. I didn't know they made Belair that long learn something new. Cheers everyone
If that Newport was a person it would be wearing an ankle monitor.
Cheers and beers gents. Thanks for posting.
no Frankers??? and whats going on with the Fury??
I agree. “What a Good girl Frankers” I missed you too. Were you asleep in the 1960 Fury? Bring it back to the shop, get those seats and trim in or you’re going to miss the Spring Grand Parade and masked ball.
Good ol Dean!
4th !!! YESSS !!!! I'll just say, when Dean was laughing in that junkyard.....I was scared. Jealous of the "Last of the BelAirs",and I hope it gets the treatment. That LeCar is sweet,no matter what everyone else says. I honestly can't envision Big Red EVER moving cars around, but it was a very nice gesture on Toms part, and will make good video as it comes back to life. But sorry, little buddy, moving cars around is what God invented big ol' forklifts for.....Love the motorcycle shop, hope to see more projects in it !!!!
My parents had a '77 Caprice Classic, silver with black vinyl top. Was gorgeous when new. And back then, it was considered a smaller car.
Another great episode! Dean, saying the brother was a "bit of a hoarder" ! Laughed out loud! And my god the BelAir!! How did that just start right up?? Awesome. What a great car. Clean her up, paint her and there ya go!
55:36 "...[exhaust smells] a bit rich..." With the monster cam, I'll bet the vacuum might be so low that the carb Power Valve might think the car is accelerating, therefore dumping extra fuel in. Back in the good old days, power valves were available in different vacuum settings to account for the lower vacuum of a "Race" cam and wait to dump fuel at a lower vacuum than the stock Power Valve. I believe the power valve actually has a number on it to indicate at what vacuum it opens. Either that or there may be a vacuum leak somewhere.
Yes!!! Absolutely love you guys!
You guys are having too much fun. And that's what makes it fun to watch.
Thankyou so much for this episode Scott. I feel so much better after watching it.
Man...my parents had a 77 Caprice Classic, an 85 Caprice ex cop car that absolutely ripped until my brother smashed it and then the worst ever 89 Caprice Classic that could not get out of its own way. Loved cruising with buds all over our home town. Tom donated a solid $2K machine to the ranch too - people pay top buck for the three wheeled death machines!
Love Cold WAR Motors IT'S DEAN Worlds Best Car Salesman in the World Great Camera Action Love all you guys Love all the car's Caint Forget the Beutifull FRANKERS 😁😁😁😁😁
I really like that Saskatchewan 440 powered Fury. That’s the one I want
Fine form Dean. 👍🤙😀
How can you not love Dean and his genuine excitement when wondering around old cars??? And the two quick wits that are Scott and Jim playing off of one another.......hilarious!! Hi Frankers!
As always was an enjoy to watch. Thanks.
That Belair was amazing after a 40 year park up. And love the way you guys all like different projects. Thats some collection of old Police tin! That R5 still brings back great memories for me, my mum never did master the gear change it was always lucky dip! Great viewing as always and thumbs up for Deans junk yard tour. Best wishes from the UK as always..
I want the diplomat/Caravelle
I thought that the Jim drives the R5 segment sort of had a David Lynch Twin Peaks feel to it..... except nothing bad or creepy happened at the end.
I love the Bel Air. That was back when GM still made real cars. I would daily drive that one!
Down in California the real death of cars was in 1974 when full on emissions standards ruined all engines. Air pumps to shoot air into exhaust manifolds and I think that's the first year for catalytic converters. I think the end of the era was 1969 for GM. Everything after that went to straight lines and slabs. Not a fan.
That wagon is like mint
I remember riding in a Chevy Bel Air in 1986 when I visited Vancouver Canada. It was a taxi cab and the other was a car for sale.
@@marscruz Umm 73 for catalytic converters (maybe 72) but 73 for sure.
@@willythewave I did a search and a couple of reliable sources say that the first year that CC were required was the model year 1975. I guess we were both wrong. There were other requirements, like smog pumps, that happened before that.
Wowee , been binge watching the last five years ,during the last few weeks… this last episode was incredible.
Dean’s tour, Jim’s review, the 9C1 wagon….( on and on)
This is the best version of TH-cam for a 53 year old gear head on sativa edibles …
Hi Scott, Dean, and cold war guys. Dean's in heaven, wish I was there too. Those old junkyards are all gone, crushed up where I live. I Love the winter bike shop. Looks like a twin to my 72 380-GT. I Bought three basket cases, built one good bike. It went to a restorer, then to a museum in Indiana. After I ran the Shit out of it for ten years. My dad had a 200 big red just like toms. I had a newer 200 the red white and blue one. I sure like Miles Newport. Haul ass. Last of the "real" cars. More rover, more Fury seats. Lots of stay warm juice. OLD BEL-AIRE WAGONS NEVER DIE!
it's amazing to still see a vega, they rotted out and burned oil, i used to pump gas and vega owners were my favorite customers, because thy always needed oil, (imade a commission on all the products i sold).
Great job, Dean! I really enjoyed the tour.
Want thank Dean for the look around the the salvage yard. About eight yrs ago you could still buy tires ,and body panels for the Big Red down here in the U.S.A.
Right on Dean-O! 👍👍!
Awesome, wore the right shirt today. Wearing my Turn Up The Base shirt.
Put my vote down for the R5.
Please thank Agent 303 for traipsing around the real car graveyard in the snow to show us what style was. Cheers to all at CWM.
Me leaving all the comments but damn that Newport sounds good that car is so bad ass
OMG! Bel Air RCMP wagon???? And a 440 RCMP Fury? And AHBs and 9C1s? Not to mention van greatness! Dual exhaust on the Newport! Jim is one funny dude....another masterpiece from CWM!!!!! Sorry, almost forgot to mention Deanster and the great yard footage. Lots of iron there that should be saved...
One Happy 😆 Dean🦅
Dean knows his old cars. The Stude is a 52 and the "48" Chevs but other than that he nailed them all.
Great episode!! The RCMP Historic Transportation department thanks you SO MUCH for your dedication.
That wagon should have a 9C5 or 9C6(?) on SPID label IIRC; PLEASE help Dan to build a garage for both it & the white 9C1!! As a bonus - the sedans will have a secondary fuse bus next to the factory fuse block, IF the wagon DOESN'T, then it most likely was never meant for light equipment - it certainly looks as though it never had any installed.
This subscriber highly approves of the Chyrsler deviation choice!!
Thanks Dean for the yard tour, someone please save that GrandAm!!
Cheers all!
Dean gets sucked into those land yacht old fords and mercury's like a tractor beam. lmao, Deano you know your cars. "Alway,s land on your neck" haha.
Excellent episode! Kudos to Dean- he held that camera steady enough so it didn’t set off my vertigo, like usual! Is the motorcycle garage at CWM headquarters?
I think he must have gotten a new smartphone with auto stabilization. No way he held that thing that steady for 10 minutes. Ten seconds would have been a previous record.
Agreed. His normal fits and starts became gentle swoops. Almost classy.
in boston area, the rear quarters would be rotted out, not just by salt and sand, but also by ocean air.
Today's gasoline is kind of a ripoff in anyway. That Bel air was the easiest cold start of all time. Just amazing to see it getting back to life. Also thank you for Dean for the great junkyards review. Love to see the Renau 5 made it road legal and not a week too late.
