All metric base units (except second) are defined in exact and invariant constants of physics. 1 Meter is defined as the distance light travels in 1/299792458 seconds. It would cost the US to switch from Imperial to Metric, but staying on Imperial also has an added cost.
Hi Tim! Regards from Portugal! I do understand what you mean. I've just migrated all my services from QNAP to a custom build using UnRAID. Now all my services runs smoothly and I have the right hardware to grow. Please, keep us posted about the AI projects... BTW, I've tried TrueNAS for about 6 months and decided to give UnRAID a try. After trying UnRAID for about 4 weeks, now I can't go back anymore. UnRAID rules!!!
The main reason most people use Mac over Windows in the studio is because windows will not let you split the playback and record to two different cards. I have a 32 ch digital mixer that i can use for input and a DAC that I use for output to my monitors. You can not do that in windows. Also have you played or read about AVB networking I have that setup at home and also use it when i do a concert. It lets me run a stagebox that sends the 32 audio channels and the 16 monitor channels down a Cat6 cable to the mixer.
RE :what I am working on". That is just it, I finished some stuff required for employer now I have a choice and I am not sure which path to pursue. I normally would go after more EMC technologies but ever since "Micheal" made that stock deal with Broadcom our work has been real slow. Maybe it is just a coincidence. It is so slow that I am considering going backwards and refreshing my CCNA (it expired, not needed for this employer). I have an Openstack student license, I have the VMware student license (one year license for all software= VCF). I have a used base level home lab (poweredge r440 and r730 and more). Many options but life is short and I need to decide. We have a lot of AI server installs scheduled. One site in PA has a quantity of 1500 ai Dell servers (model xe8600 for example). Rumor is soon brake/ fix contract for EMC servers will be turned on at employer but who knows . isilon, ECS etc would be super sexy, that would be my dream but had it last year, super crazy busy all last year then it died. Fell off a cliff, when Micheal sold his stock to Broadcom. Not sure what the future holds.

Metric length was defined by Earth’s circumference.

Will you be sharing with us your AI adventures for home?
I certainly will. Soon!
I’m contemplating building a ryzen threadripper 3970x and a tesla p40 to do some AI and other apps ! I’m looking forward to see what you put together!

I need to take some lessons from you! Maybe when I get a real mixer!

I ordered a MS-01 yesterday.. I'm not a lucky guy so i bet mine will get here just a few days before MS-02. (Sale until today at -200 euro off)
Intel already have AI in their chips. AVX (matrix multiplications) have been around on Intel for ages,
