Okay, offside is when the person that receives the ball is closer to the goal line (that end where goalkeeper is at) than second last opposite player. But when the ball is closer to the line than opposite players, it is the ball that dictates offside in that moment

@@noahmaquestin1988nah if the player that is receiving the ball is behind it when played then it’s not offside. The second to last defender only applies when the receiver is ahead of the ball
He wasn't interfering with play at the start but behind the Marcelo when the ball was played to him.
Ronaldo wasn't off side he was in line with Marcella off side is if the most forward player is actually goal side of the last defender. Yet if you have 2 players goal side of the defenders as running towards the opposition goal if your both in line with each other you can pass either forward for your team mate to run into or sideways. A forward ball is just called a through ball or the sideways pass is called a cut back. When Ronaldo was actually off side he wasn't interfering with play so not classed as off side.

I also believe the reason America isn't into football/Soccer is because European clubs actually sign players at the age of 11-12 years old & train them up in their youth academy where you don't in America hence your mens teams would struggle in European leagues.
