Zeus was also married to Hera, who he constantly cheated on, which is why she was so quick to approve of Odysseus's loyalty. I think this is also supposed to be what made Zeus so mad at the end, cause Athena called him out
yes, it is. He says at the beginning Odysseus is "a man full of shame", so the fact Odysseus is better than Zeus in any one thing would mean he is, in that regard, worse than a man full of shame. Which is why the line he says to Athena about it is exactly "you dare to defy me, to make me feel shame"
Yeah - the singer for Zeus evidently has come out and said it was Athena using 'Never once has he cheated on his wife' line that pissed off Zeus. Because Zeus is constantly cheating on Hera.
One of the reasons that Telemachus and Penelope believe that Odysseus is still alive is because in the actual story of the Odyssey it starts with Telemachus being told by someone, who we later find out is Athena in disguise, about all the adventures that Odysseus has been on and that he is still alive and then Telemachus wants to gather a crew together and go out to sea and try and find his father
I like his thought process in the actual Odyssey too. Wow this old man is unnervingly nice? Unnervingly nice = a god. Okay, gotta listen to everything this guy says.
When the voice actor of Zeus saw this for the first time during the livestream he found out he recked Athena and when he heard “let him go” he was ready to cry…
Fun facts- - When Telemachus first asks for help, you can hear Athena’s theme - The dog’s name is Argos. He’s been around since Odysseus was a kid; watching over the family while Ody was away. So, he’s in his twenties or maybe thirty - The years are iffy because Jorge got some lyrics mixed up, and now it’s a running joke. Even back to Different Beasts where Odysseus says “we’ve been away from home for 12 years or so” - They call Telemachus Little Wolf because Odysseus is associated with wolves - Zeus was EXTRA PISSED because Athena called him out for his infidelity (On top of being the goddess of marriage, she is Zeus’ wife). - “I just make your thoughts quick” is a reference to how, when she pulls people into those slow moments, they’re called “Quick Thought”. It’s like her special move if she were in a video game. - During Love in Paradise, that’s called a Time Dive, another game type move, and every scene she jumps through is one that has had a piano- her instrument. - Ares has his own Quick Thought, called Dark Quick Thought. That’s what he used when popping up to battle Athena - Hephaestus is voiced by Jay’s dad - When Athena has the flashback at the end, it starts with a slow Warrior of the Mind them, then switches to Legendary when she holds Telemachus Little Wolf animatic fun fact: - The flashes in Little Wolf are an inside joke with the artist. They joke that the characters got hit so hard they were reverted to their sketch form (Side thing- DEFINITELY check out the canon animatics, even not for a video or anything. They’re super cool in general).
Wait, Argos was around since *Ody* was a kid??? I just assumed he was very young when Ody left since that’s already 20 years, if he’s been around since Ody was a kid then how old is this freaking dog? XD
Fun fact! There's a cut song called "Your Light" in which Polites tells Odysseus "let me be your light". The line "then his light went dark" from Athena is a nod to Polites dying :)
If you listen closely, in "We'll be fine" Telemachus actually advised Athena to go help Odysseus! He said "it's time that you lend a hand, I don't think he'll mind". I guess before Athena felt guilty, but wasn't sure she should go and try to do something about it, because of the way they parted or of her pride or whatever. But Telemachus convinced her, that it's okay, you can make mistakes but than learn from them and try to fix them.
@@cbctebasrajeb81 What Telemachus means by that is "I'm sure he won't mind help from, if not his friend, then mine" essentially calling Athena his friend regardless of what Odysseus thinks of her, and at the same time encouraging her tot reach out a hand.
The dog is named Argos and he actually does the OPPOSITE of die haha, that's Ody's dog, he was a puppy when Ody left for war and he'll still be alive when he returns :) also in lyrical terms, Telemachus is a little wolf bc Odysseus is the wolf (we hear Poseidon refer to Odysseus's men as the 'the pack of wolves is swimming with the sharks now')
Lmao 😢 he literally die the moment after he sees Odysseus. And about the wolf thing, here's a theory: Odysseus' grandfather (Hermes son) was called Autolycus which translate as "The Wolf Himself"
The reason Zeus got pissy was because Athena had questioned the god of judgements' judgement of Odysseus's punishment. Also because Athena beat Zeus at his game. The thing about never cheating on his wife is more likely due to Hera being the goddess of marriage, and showing that he is a good husband would please her.
That's definitely not the reason. He thought his status of king of gods was impossible to undermine. Probably thought Athena would be unable to convince the other gods and would come back begging to him, hence why he says "or me" at the end of listing the gods she had to convince. But Athena doesn't try to convince him and instead wins the game, which "defies" and "shames" him as he lost despite his status. I doubt Zeus cares whatsoever about Hera's or anyone's feelings towards his infidelity.
He specifically had a 'malformed' leg in the myths. That's depending on the version you're looking at, either the reason for or a result of Hera's action. He is also the god of the forge and of craftsmen. He is therefore commonly depicted with some kind of technical walking aid that he invented. (there are ancient Greek paintings of him in a wheelchair for example) Him replacing his leg with an prosthetic makes sense
Someone also said in a comment elsewhere an Ares idea that I liked. Where Athena is a warrior of the mind, Ares would be a warrior of the heart. His domain was less about strategy and more about fighting your hardest because you mean it. With that said, Telemachus would be a model citizen in Ares eyes. He fights even though he has no chance to win. The fights for the honor of his family. He fights to protect his mother. These are all ideals that Ares exemplifies, which means that him dispraging Telemachus isn't a personal attack, he's doing what brothers do best and pissing his sister off, but he is doing it to force her into his domain, fighting with your heart, not fighting with your mind
I like to think that Athena spent those 10 years sitting in her room pouting about the fight with Ody. Then she goes to Ithaca to try and make up with him, only to find out he's still missing. Also- i saw someone else say when Odysseus says "just let me close my eyes" he wants to spare himself the view (call back to Just a Man)
It's important to point out that the reason Athena feels guilty about the way things turned out with Odysseus is because she DOES bear a lot of responsibility for the incident with the cyclops, because of the pressure she was putting on him to be a "Warrior of the Mind." Her line about "If I hadn't missed it all" is about how she failed to notice the mental and emotional stress Odysseus was under, first from being pressured to kill a kid and then from losing his best friend in a very violent and traumatizing way- which is why her scolding him and cold insistence on him staying the way she "designed" him led to him breaking, lashing out, and making the mistake of taunting the cyclops. When Polites was trying to get him to relax in "Open Arms," she IMMEDIATELY stepped in to go "no, stop that, you're a warrior because that's what I crafted you to be, don't disappoint me." And now that she's had time to calm down and reflect, she's realized that yeah, Odysseus is ultimately responsible for his own bad choices, but she was very much making things worse by refusing to acknowledge the Emotional aspects of what Ody was going through, and trying to force him to be coldly pragmatic when that was the WORST possible thing she could have done.
Yeah so if Athena had to convince Posidon she would have been done for cause they like, REALLY hate eachother. Also, Ares: “pathetic and weak like his SON!” Athena: “so anyways I started blasting.”
actually I think poseidon would be the easiest one I bet athena would and he would be like "Relase him, please" with a devilish smile on his face without presenting any argument. He wants to get the dude, trouble is he can't reach to him with calypso (because she is ordered to be isolated)
"She's turning down this hot dude." In her defense, that hot dude with a hot voice has a terrible personality and has never considered "try to have a good relationship with Telemachus" as a strategy to prove he would be a good husband. After the Ithaca Saga comes out, and after you've reacted, I recommend you look up the "Telemachus's birthday" parody.
It's probably for the best, imagine if he was a great guy and she got with him, then Odysseus would become a villain in a way, ruining a new life she found after years of waiting. (You can't expect a person to wait forever, so Penelope is actually showing her own love for him in doing so, most others would have likely moved on themselves)
A really good addon to God Games that is in a short video, Jorge, the creator, said that (me trying to explain) when Athena did quick-thought on Aphrodite, areas did his own version of quick thought on Athena, then at the end, Athena Quick thoughts, Ares... so it's a quick thought within a quick thought within another quick thought. Jorge also said that instead of helping someone think faster and wiser, Ares' quick thought makes you go into a rage, and so he called it something like Antiquick thought.
Another thing is Athena is the tactical side of war while Ares is the brutal side of war. also Ares supported the Trojans side while athena was on the greeks
Trigger warning for love in paradise! Calypso has been trapped alone on that island for hundreds of years, so it's understandable that she's all kinds of messed up and does some questionable things. And that she immediately fixates on the first and only person she meets. In the original myth, calypso SAs ody, even resulting in kids. It's written that "he spends the nights by her side, an unwilling lover next to a lover all too willing, and the days on the shores, crying and weeping."
Everything you said is correct, but I must add in that the kids Calypso and Odysseus had together aren’t canon. And before anybody says “nothing is canon in Greek mythology” - the children were much later additions that were not written by Homer

"Little Wolf" could be a reference to Poseidon calling Odysseus and his crew the "pack of wolves." Or they might both be references to Odysseus' grandfather Autolycus whose name is literally "The Wolf Itself," which might've passed down as a sort of family symbol.
I love the "sleep at night" line cause it references back to My Goodbye where Odysseus asks "what's a title That a Goddess could lend If I'll never sleep at night?", I actually love the Athena character development
22:12 theres some interpretations were that may be because Athena is also considered the goddess of humanity and/or the goddess of heroes, and she's considered the goddess who's clossest to humanity, also the legend were she was involved with prometeus when they first created humans and humanity. So maybe thats why she understands them better that most of the other gods
Yes girl we are definitely getting spoiled by this musical, and we all want Jorge to keep making more, the Iliad is one everyone wants even Jorge says he would want to do it. Regardless no matter how much we love epic we have to remember that jay is just a man and he needs rest, so we should show our support and let him know we are excited to see what else he produces but not demand anything and if he wants to take a break for a while let him
In the original myth, Calypso was, in fact, taking advantage of him. To clarify though, it's not Calypso's spell trapping him on the island. Calypso was imprisoned there by the Gods for siding with the Titans during the war. She AND Ody are trapped there by the Gods.
Her being stuck there, actually isn’t a thing in the Odyssey (the island is pretty much just Calypso’s home, and she actually might be the goddess of the island specifically as she was called a nymph which were typically minor gods of locations) and the titanomachy is nearly not mentioned at all. It is explicitly Calypso’s spell keeping him there.
Odysseyus' army was called the wolf pack that's why they call Telemechus Little Wolf and Posiedon said "Now the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now" in ruthlessness
You should really react to Neal Illustrators God Games it’s the best one in my opinion and makes the Olympians actually feel like the dysfunctional immortal family they are, and the way they did the ending was so heartbreakingly good. Highly recommend

So, fun fact, Aphrodite was originally also a Goddess of War. When the Greeks brought her into their own Mythology and adapted her into the version of herself we know now, they got rid of that aspect of her, but in reference to it made her the Lover of Ares so that she still has a connection to her old Dominion.
@colt1903 my point is she's originally a Greek godess so the Greek gods can't "bring her into their mythology and adapt her into the version we know now"
@@MoonlitPhoenix0 there are different Greeks, older and newer ones. They probably meant that in the older form she was that but as the new Greeks updated the mythos to make her the goddess of love only. (Note while I used the term old and new it's relative, both groups are BC era groups) Edit the minoans are the older Greeks. (Forgot the name)
@@MoonlitPhoenix0 OP wasn't talking about the Romans though? What they said is correct; Aphrodite was, I believe, considered a foreign god, same as Apollo. Cultural exchange meant her cults were derived from the cults of Astarte and Inanna-Ishtar... all associated with love, beauty, and war. But most places in ancient Greece removed the war aspect when they started worshipping Aphrodite, with some exceptions such as Sparta, Thebes, and Cyprus. So you can't say she was "originally a Greek goddess" when there were older cultures and religions that the Greeks took elements from
33:40 He chose Ares and Aphrodeity because they supported Troy in the war, Hephestus because he is Aphrodiety's Husband, Apollo because of the sirens and Hera becaise he assumed he wife would just support him
Finally someone else comments about how Hephestus is Aphrodite's husband. Ares is just the affair, also kinda funny how Hephestus's part is about trust he should give his wife a dirty look. Yes I do know that it is not a mutual marriage
Gods like two things: Praise, and getting their own way. If Zeus had just said "no" to Athena, that would've made him "unreasonable," so he gave her a game he was convinced she would lose.
The “Make me feel shame” line sounds like he was mad she brought up his infidelity to Hera it’s kind of an unspoken rule Hera usually punishes the lovers but they never actually address the infidelity.
So glad it's this God Game Animatic we got a reaction to. No hate on everyone else's version, but this one is easily my favourite by miles. The way the blue symbolising Athena's power changes to red to symbolise Ares countering it with his own power, only for him to cross the line and BAM! BLUE! The way she shoots up in size like she's barely containing her rage, matches the growl in the singer's voice perfectly. And Hera's the perfect sassy wine aunt! And the ending! The flashback that gave her the power to stand up to the king of gods was so beautiful, even showing the Athena from back then looking a little puzzled, not understanding yet just how significant the moment was. Then struggling with every single step, knowing she can't actually beat Zeus, but just trying desperately to reach him. I've seen versions where she's flying around fighting robots and looking all DBZ, but this one feels like absolute perfection. And I'm so glad the hidden look of fear didn't go unnoticed. I've watched others react to that scene, and nobody else ever noticed how much she was just putting on a brave face. Stern mouth, terrified eyes.
So the interesting thing on Calypso is she is actually equally a prisoner on the island. Basically she was a daughter of one of the titans but was friendly to the gods I think so instead of imprisoning her somewhere horrible they just... stuck her on an island. She is unable to leave as well... and it's usually the gods that decide whether people can go to or leave her island
- Legendary - I’m actually not super big on this song but I do love that it gives us a good look at what Telemachus and Penelope have been dealing with. - Little Wolf - I can not tell you how happy I was to have Athena back. Teagan is probably my favorite singer in this show so hearing her come in was great. - We’ll Be Fine - This one is actually my favorite of the saga and my only complaint is that it’s too short. I love Athena’s high notes, but also just getting to hear how she regrets how she left things with Ody. Her harmonies with Miguel (Telemachus) are superb. - Love In Paradise - I hate how catchy this song is because wow is Calypso… just the worst. The singer is fantastic but the character is… ugh. Also the use of “I’m not your man” instead of “just a man” is clever. Poor Ody though. All he wants is just to get home and be with his wife and kid and the universe just seems hellbent on not letting him. After everything he sacrificed to make it happen too. - God Games - There are reprises to Warrior of the Mind all throughout this saga but none more obvious than in several parts of this song. So good. Masterful. It’s also just cool getting to meet and hear all the new gods. And cool that Jorge got his dad to voice Hephaestus. “Last I checked Goddesses can’t die.” So, I’m gonna say at the most Athena will just be out of commission for a while. We’ll see though. Hopefully. Also you should check out Neal’s for this one, it’s super cool.
Fun fact: Odysseus and his crew are considered the "pack of wolves" (hence why Poseidon said "the pack of wolves is swimming with the sharks now") so the little wolf title for Telemachus is fitting
Great reaction as always! Funnily enough the goddess of knitting (well, fiber arts, mostly weaving) is actually Athena! She loves her strategic war and beautiful clothes and tapestries lol
Idk how much you are into greek mithology, but one of my favourite thing about greeks gods is that differently from our common knowledge of gods that paint them has mighty beings, all knowing with no flaws at all, perfect and cant do no wrong, greeks one are actually very human in their own right. Yes mighty, but full of flaws, imperfectly perfect, vangefull, cunning and very known for all their wrong doing. They represents the best and the worst sides of humanity, greeks pantheon is my favourite, so relatable so near to human, they give real comfort making you not feel only an helpless, weak human... I love them so much... From a Hellenic polyteist, follower of the Gods, Apollon and Hermes. Anyway im really happy to see u enjoing the musical so much, its so good!

15:46 if you remember, Poseidon referred to Ody's crew as a pack of wolves, that's because Odysseus's grandfather was the son of Hermes and a shapeshifter (and if memory serves preferred to turn into a wolf)
A lot of Odysseus' family is associated with wolves. His grandfather (a son of hermes) was named "the wolf" or something very similar in ancient greek. Odysseus also fights with a lot of ferocity, but only after hes sure he's figured out a way to win, similar to how wolves are vicious killers only after they've worked as a group to seperate one, maybe two, bison or other large prey from the rest of the pack. Telamachus, seen as lesser in pretty much every way to his extremely famous dad, is a little wolf since he has all the same traits without the skills or experience to put them to use
I mean your thoughts about Hera being old isn't entirely unfounded. She's canonically older than Zeus and Jorge even confirmed that the reason her music has a bit of a disco vibe to it, is to represent how much older she is compared to the other gods in God Games.
The dog's name is Argos. He was originally Odysseus' dog which would make him over 20+ years old. In the original Odyssey, when Ody returned home, Ody saw Argos waiting for him like the goodest boy ever!
My favorite thing from the Wisdom Saga (apart from Teagan's amazing vocals, and Telemachus being adorable, and kinda the whole thing) is Athena's melodies during God Games. At first, when she's arguing the Apollo and Hephaestus, she's mirroring their melodies, rhyme schemes, and volumes- showing how she's speaking their language and appealing to them. Then, when she gets to Aphrodite, she can't- she starts to yell back to Aphrodite's quieter vocals ("He was busy fighting!). And she can't convince the Goddess of Love. And then Ares comes in, and doesn't give Athena even a chance to get a word in edgewise- until he *royally* pisses her off, and Athena starts to argue from the heart, using her own melodies and themes. And shuts both of them down. It amazing!
This song is such an amazing love letter to the Greek gods in it. Representing them so great. Zeus being just a bratty trust fund kid getting upset cus he lost his game. Aphrodite hating Odysseus because of his mother showing her being the goddess of love isn’t just about lust. The hatred and rivalry between Ares and Athena. Heras part is the best. Because her relationship with Zeus is called out in such a great subtle way. She’s his wife but the dude cheats on her CONSTANTLY!!! Turning into everything in the animal kingdom to do so. So Athena pointing out Odysseus loyalty was the perfect little call out.
That doggy is so gash darn OLD. Ody had that dog from when he was back in Ithaca way before Troy. So that dog is at least a minimum of 20 years old. Or maybe even 30 years
Hephaestus doesn't have have a wooden leg; that's all bronze, baby. He's the god of the forge, the legend who birthed all legendary weapons in Greek myth. Hermes' winged hat and sandals? Hephaestus. Achilles' armor? That's our man, Hephaestus. Cast down from Olympus because of his lame leg, he forged a new one and a special chariot and decided to spite the other gods. Built a forge in Zeus' palace and filled it with bronze automatons. Worked his way up to marrying Aphrodite, only for her to start cheating on him with Ares, so he threw himself into his work. First creating a trapped bed to catch them in the act and present it to the other gods, and then just because it helped distract him. Inspiration to metal smiths and artisans. Heck of an interesting god.
So fun fact! The way Telemachus says “Tell me Athena why you came to my aid.” Is sang in the exact same tone as a line Polites sings to Odysseus in the cut song “Ismarus”, where he sings “tell me what keeps you up so late at night, my friend.’
The dog is named Argos, and he was a puppy when Odysseus left for war. when odysseus returns, hes disguised by athena, and the dog recognizes him and dies when he finally 'sees' him again. one of the saddest parts of the Odyssey imo. cool channel btw!!
Ok do the dog is actually ody’s. Tele is just looking after him until she’s back. The sad part is, in the odyssey, Odysseus comes home in a disguise. Nobody can tell it’s him, but his dog knows. Before they get a true reunion, where he’s out of his costume, the dog dies.
41:16 "Let me tell you something so called God King! If Athena died because of you, I will drag your butt into the ring, and then you'll only be wishing that shapeshifting will be enough to fix what I'll do to you!"
Fun detail that you didn’t point out: In “We’ll be Fine,” Athena references a line that Odysseus sings! My Goodbye: “What’s a title that a goddess could lend if I’ll never sleep at night?” We’ll be Fine: “Maybe, if I helped you reach your goal, life could be that bright; I could sleep at night”
Zeus: - kinda started the whole thing by having a mortal judge when he was supposed to - has Odysseus kill the infant to put an end to the wars he kinda started by delegating to mortals… delegating such a horrific thing to a mortal - does not help with any of Odyssey subsequent troubles or trauma - torments Odysseus for something he himself didn’t do and even tried to stop - gives him the ultimatum of him or his crew and kills his crew accordingly - sticks Odysseus on an island anyways intending for him to stay there indefinitely as “punishment” - creates a game with Athena to undo said punishment Odysseus never even deserved - strikes her down when she wins his game fair and square Poseidon may have down worse but at least he has principles. Zeus is just a prick.
Argos is Odysseus' old hunting dog, who now spends his days either by Telemachus' side or watching the shore waiting for his master to return. He is the goodest boy in all of Ancient Greece.
One fun thing, wolves are refrenced frequently in describing some characters. Either Ody himself or his father was nicknamed the "Lone wolf" and Ody's men are the "Pack of Wolves" hence in ruthlessness "the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now". The telemachus is the little wolf which is cool detail.
My fiancé is a childhood friend of Miguel (the voice actor of Telemachus) she even helped him with his wardrobe for one of his first tours! It’s awesome to see him make his mark like this!
about "little wolf" "Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now" is how Poseidon refered to Odysseus and his men he is little wolf because Odysseus is the big wolf
Fun fact, during the live stream of this saga TH-cam struck the video down after Calypso said “goddess’s can’t die”. Also can’t wait for you to react to the vengeance saga, it’s a rough one (but so far my second favorite)
The "Athena being sympathetic towarsd Ody is hinted at through the music/singing in "Warrior of the Mind" by how Athena alters her way of singing "Mind" from one straight note to instead match the riff Ody made on it after she first sang it to him. Then in "My Goodbye", she reverses it. She goes from singing "Goodbye" with that same riff, to her last one just being one long note, signifiying her distancing herself from him. And /then/, in "We'll be fine," she's using Ody's riff again, and Telemachus makes his own riff based on /that/.
Athena and Ares are also both gods of war (Ares representing the brutality of war and Athena the art of war / strategy) and are rivals, Ireally like they depicted that here with the instant mood switch as soon as Ares shows up. You just know there is some beef there.
I love your reactions, their actually hilarious- most people are focused and analyzing, your just laughing and making jokes and references- it’s amazing 😂

And also Zeus just hates losing
Yeah - the singer for Zeus evidently has come out and said it was Athena using 'Never once has he cheated on his wife' line that pissed off Zeus. Because Zeus is constantly cheating on Hera.
Ohhhh Good point!
Exactly came to say this, the fact her husband is probably the biggest slag ever helps Athena😂
In love in paradise calypso is literally saying “no don’t kill yourself you’re so sexy!”
HAHA
"You're too hot to die! Don't leave me alone here, so thirsty!"
Lmao🤣🤣🤣🤣
When the voice actor of Zeus saw this for the first time during the livestream he found out he recked Athena and when he heard “let him go” he was ready to cry…
There is a link to the video?
Fun facts-
- When Telemachus first asks for help, you can hear Athena’s theme
- The dog’s name is Argos. He’s been around since Odysseus was a kid; watching over the family while Ody was away. So, he’s in his twenties or maybe thirty
- The years are iffy because Jorge got some lyrics mixed up, and now it’s a running joke. Even back to Different Beasts where Odysseus says “we’ve been away from home for 12 years or so”
- They call Telemachus Little Wolf because Odysseus is associated with wolves
- Zeus was EXTRA PISSED because Athena called him out for his infidelity (On top of being the goddess of marriage, she is Zeus’ wife).
That’s what he used when popping up to battle Athena
- Hephaestus is voiced by Jay’s dad
- When Athena has the flashback at the end, it starts with a slow Warrior of the Mind them, then switches to Legendary when she holds Telemachus
Little Wolf animatic fun fact:
- The flashes in Little Wolf are an inside joke with the artist. They joke that the characters got hit so hard they were reverted to their sketch form
(Side thing- DEFINITELY check out the canon animatics, even not for a video or anything. They’re super cool in general).
- The association of Odysseus with wolves is also referenced in Ruthlessness when Poseidon sings "The pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now"
@ and one version of Circe turns his men into wolves as well
@@princeveggiehe's a wolf because his grandpa, the wolf himself ☝️🤓
Wait, Argos was around since *Ody* was a kid??? I just assumed he was very young when Ody left since that’s already 20 years, if he’s been around since Ody was a kid then how old is this freaking dog? XD

What are you gonna do about it…champ?
Fun fact! There's a cut song called "Your Light" in which Polites tells Odysseus "let me be your light". The line "then his light went dark" from Athena is a nod to Polites dying :)
Omg I need to hear this now
EPIC The Musical is just a story of Dad coming home with the milk.
Considering the time span, that’s gotta be some hella spoiled milk
Great pfp for that joke, lol
(Pls don't get mad at me if that was too far, I'm VERY autistic)
@@Looseer Going for milk, coming back with some finely aged cheese
@@Looseer dang! If only Eurylochus hadn’t pissed of Helios, then he could’ve gotten Divine Milk from the Golden Cows.
After all that time, that milk must be cheese
If you listen closely, in "We'll be fine" Telemachus actually advised Athena to go help Odysseus! He said "it's time that you lend a hand, I don't think he'll mind". I guess before Athena felt guilty, but wasn't sure she should go and try to do something about it, because of the way they parted or of her pride or whatever. But Telemachus convinced her, that it's okay, you can make mistakes but than learn from them and try to fix them.
Oh, I thought that Ody won’t mind if Athena helped Telemachus. Probably because of the next line of “if not his friend, then mine”
@@cbctebasrajeb81 What Telemachus means by that is "I'm sure he won't mind help from, if not his friend, then mine" essentially calling Athena his friend regardless of what Odysseus thinks of her, and at the same time encouraging her tot reach out a hand.
when you mentioned Hera as the goddess of knitting I laughed quite alot since Athena is the Goddess of weaving which is sort of old timey knitting
The dog is named Argos and he actually does the OPPOSITE of die haha, that's Ody's dog, he was a puppy when Ody left for war and he'll still be alive when he returns :) also in lyrical terms, Telemachus is a little wolf bc Odysseus is the wolf (we hear Poseidon refer to Odysseus's men as the 'the pack of wolves is swimming with the sharks now')
Also Ody's great grandpa was associated with wolves i think
Ah yes, the Opposite of die, Definitely
Well, he does the opposite of die... until he does
I mean, he did live FAR LONGER than the medium dog, but come on, that was just cruel x.x
Lmao 😢 he literally die the moment after he sees Odysseus. And about the wolf thing, here's a theory: Odysseus' grandfather (Hermes son) was called Autolycus which translate as "The Wolf Himself"
@MarianGonzalez-gt1wd and Ody and his army we're termed pack of wolves; now Telemachus is the little wolf
Funny thing:
Only reason Zeus got pissy is because Athena called him out when she told HIS WIFE that unlike ZEUS, Ody NEVER CHEATED.
Why am I not surprised? Of all men (mortal AND immortal) Zeus gas the most fragile of all masculinities. Like, honestly.
@Stella81312 he even turned into a swan to get some action
I don’t think that’s the reason, I think he just got angry he lost
34:42 Hephestus got chucked off Mount olympus as a bady by Hera because he was so 'ugly'. That's probably why he has a fake leg.
To be fair telemachas failed in his battle, so while Ares can respect the spirit he won't respect the lack of strength.
When Polites was trying to get him to relax in "Open Arms," she IMMEDIATELY stepped in to go "no, stop that, you're a warrior because that's what I crafted you to be, don't disappoint me."
And now that she's had time to calm down and reflect, she's realized that yeah, Odysseus is ultimately responsible for his own bad choices, but she was very much making things worse by refusing to acknowledge the Emotional aspects of what Ody was going through, and trying to force him to be coldly pragmatic when that was the WORST possible thing she could have done.
This she was heavily in the wrong herself, treating him like a tool instead of a person.
Yeah so if Athena had to convince Posidon she would have been done for cause they like, REALLY hate eachother.
Also,
Ares: “pathetic and weak like his SON!”
Athena: “so anyways I started blasting.”
Athena: You can’t kill him yourself.
Poseidon: Release him now! I’ll wait at the shore.
actually I think poseidon would be the easiest one
I bet athena would and he would be like "Relase him, please" with a devilish smile on his face without presenting any argument.
He wants to get the dude, trouble is he can't reach to him with calypso (because she is ordered to be isolated)
That growl in "Hold your tounge!" is just so damn good. Just thinking about it gives me a spike of adrenaline and makes me wanna cheer.
Counter point he probably would have said yes, because he really wants to kill Odysseus and its harder to do that while he's on Ogygia.
I love that parody is so good!!! XDDD
Yes this parody is perfect 😂 Antinous the dad who stepped up
Haven’t you noticed who’s missing? Don’t you know the prince is not around? I heard today is…
@PoseidonsWinionDaughter26483 Telemachus’s birthday and i heard today he comes back to town so
It's probably for the best, imagine if he was a great guy and she got with him, then Odysseus would become a villain in a way, ruining a new life she found after years of waiting.

Duvetbox's 'Butch-Beam' Athena has quickly become my favorite Epic Athena design
Regardless no matter how much we love epic we have to remember that jay is just a man and he needs rest, so we should show our support and let him know we are excited to see what else he produces but not demand anything and if he wants to take a break for a while let him
15:28 Also, in Ruthlessness, Poseidon compared Ody and his crew to a pack of wolves. "Guess the pack of wolves are swimming with the sharks now"
In the original myth, Calypso was, in fact, taking advantage of him. To clarify though, it's not Calypso's spell trapping him on the island. Calypso was imprisoned there by the Gods for siding with the Titans during the war. She AND Ody are trapped there by the Gods.
She's also Atlas' daughter, hence why she chose to side with the titans.
A little trivia on the dog, he was odysseus' dog from when he was king. We'll never see the dog again in Epic. I wont give any specifics but his one remaining goal is to see his master return home, then his job is done. Ill give actual specifics when you get to the ithaca saga which releases on Christmas day. 😸💜
wasn't the dog alive when Odysseus came back barley but alive
@@asmodeusobeyme1476 he was alive but extremely old and sick, as soon as he saw odysseus again for the first time in 20 years he decided his purpose was fulfilled and just lay down and died
5:20 it's very nice, yet I feel he made him softy, when in the original story, he goes to Sparta and Pilos to find news of his dad and make a name for himself, guided by Athena, becoming a man his father could feel even more proud and protect his mom
The Greeks had her first then the romans
@MoonlitPhoenix0 Yeah? What's your point?
(Note while I used the term old and new it's relative, both groups are BC era groups)
Edit the minoans are the older Greeks.
Apollo was also on the side of the Trojans btw!
I LOVE the animatic for Dangerous (2nd song of the vengeance saga) by Orange, so definitely recommend that one

I love how hype you get watching EPIC lol, makes it feel more like watching a TV show in a good way. I was so ready for ur reaction to Athena showing up
15:46 if you remember, Poseidon referred to Ody's crew as a pack of wolves, that's because Odysseus's grandfather was the son of Hermes and a shapeshifter (and if memory serves preferred to turn into a wolf)
36:52 "i wonder if (ares) and athena are related" quick summary of the greek pantheon "are they related" 90% its yes
Final saga on Christmas Day can't wait!
The way I AUDIBLY screamed !!
Fun tidbit: If you go back to the songs that Athena is looking in on, you can actually her theme subtly in the background.
11:47 was literally me. Athena is easily my favorite character in this musical
I love how much thought and analysis you put into each song. And your reactions are the best!! I love your videos 💕💕

- kinda started the whole thing by having a mortal judge when he was supposed to
- has Odysseus kill the infant to put an end to the wars he kinda started by delegating to mortals… delegating such a horrific thing to a mortal
- does not help with any of Odyssey subsequent troubles or trauma
- torments Odysseus for something he himself didn’t do and even tried to stop
- gives him the ultimatum of him or his crew and kills his crew accordingly
- sticks Odysseus on an island anyways intending for him to stay there indefinitely as “punishment”
- creates a game with Athena to undo said punishment Odysseus never even deserved
- strikes her down when she wins his game fair and square
Poseidon may have down worse but at least he has principles. Zeus is just a prick.
Argos is Odysseus' old hunting dog, who now spends his days either by Telemachus' side or watching the shore waiting for his master to return. He is the goodest boy in all of Ancient Greece.
You're almost to the Vengeance Saga omg!!!! I genuinely can't wait to see your reaction to those songs, especially 600 Strike!
I highly suggest to take time to watch Neal Illustrator's version of God Games. Neal has an incredible take.
I AGREEE, they did such a fucking good job, left me in tears
cant wait for your reaction on the vengance saga :DD
One fun thing, wolves are refrenced frequently in describing some characters.
Either Ody himself or his father was nicknamed the "Lone wolf" and Ody's men are the "Pack of Wolves" hence in ruthlessness "the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now". The telemachus is the little wolf which is cool detail.
My fiancé is a childhood friend of Miguel (the voice actor of Telemachus) she even helped him with his wardrobe for one of his first tours! It’s awesome to see him make his mark like this!
Fun fact: Like how Odysseus' mother was voiced by Jorge's mom, Hephetus is voiced by Jorge's father!
Love your videos as usual, can't wait to see your reaction for the next saga. It's gonna be ruthless
about "little wolf"
"Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now" is how Poseidon refered to Odysseus and his men
he is little wolf because Odysseus is the big wolf
34:39 Hephaestus was dropped from Olympus when he was born-
Fun fact, during the live stream of this saga TH-cam struck the video down after Calypso said “goddess’s can’t die”. Also can’t wait for you to react to the vengeance saga, it’s a rough one (but so far my second favorite)
Zeus being a douche and throwing a fit when Athena wins his game. Yeah that tracks for Zeus.
I think he's mad about Athena bringing up the "cheating on his wife" thing, which is where the "make me feel shame" line comes from.
Antinious: This cruel world doesn't give out presents just for being good.
World: *sends Athena giftwraped with ribbons just to spite him*
Athena and Ares are also both gods of war (Ares representing the brutality of war and Athena the art of war / strategy) and are rivals, Ireally like they depicted that here with the instant mood switch as soon as Ares shows up. You just know there is some beef there.
I love your reactions, their actually hilarious- most people are focused and analyzing, your just laughing and making jokes and references- it’s amazing 😂
I saw a comment that really stood out on the animatics video about the fact that she denied Odysseus’s high five, but accepted telemachases, kinda to show that she’s trying to be kinder and accept it, just like you said :)
I think that if Poseidon was in God Games, he might’ve actually been very willing for Ody to be freed from Calypso. So that Poseidon could then kill him on the way home.
The freak out at "need some help" gave me life. 🤣 I love that youre doing Epic.
32:27 Literally my favorite animatic, it shows the scenes so well and gets the vibes completely right, also that Apollo design is fantastic!!
When Athena refers to Odysseus losing his light, she is referring to a cut song where Polites is set up to be Odysseus' light in the dark.
I checked your page this morning and now I see this posted YAAAAAAAAAY, talk about perfect timing!
The Gods of the Journessy:
Hermes: Your hero has arrived, my dear Ody!
Aeolus: Hi, these are my Winions, I found them eating a Lotus. They are mine.
Circe: Damn you and your romantic heart...
Calypso: A HOT MAN? THANK ZEUS, TOOK YA LONG ENOUGH
Apollo: Oh? Sure, sounds like a fair argument
Hephaestus: Yeah yeah, whatever. Just stop bothering me
Aphrodite & Ares: We're still pissed, but you'll keep bullying us if we say no
Hera: DIDN'T CHEAT? HELL YEAH, LET HIM OUT!!
Athena: Hah, I win
Zeus: And I took that personally
HOW DID I FORGET POSEIDON?????????
Anyway-
Poseidon: Yk, I woulda been happier if you just killed my son but wtv
