- The Arcade House is one of those small-time local chains that continues to be steadily growing. As far as I can tell, they appear to be owned by the same people that operate the Space Adventure chain of indoor mini golf courses. I first visited their original location at the Palisades Center mall a couple years ago, back when they were originally known as "The Arcade Zone" and located inside the now-defunct IHOP on the fourth floor. You can see footage from that spot in my "Arcade Games of the Palisades Center Mall" video on this channel, but since then, they've moved out of the former IHOP and into a new storefront on the third floor near the food court.
Anyway, this new location of theirs in the Crossgates Mall up in the New York state capital, Albany, just opened a few weeks back. Apparently it was a bit of a soft opening, as they are even now still working on adding more games to fill out the massive amount of floor space they have available. Like their other locations in Nyack and Poughkeepsie, they seem to have a mix of modern redemption games, claw machines, racing games, sports games, and even more near and dear to my heart, rhythm games! I admire their dedication to continually putting a handful of rhythm games in each new spot they open up. Here, they have Sound Voltex and Wacca, both of which are also at their other arcades, but they also have a brand new Pump It Up Phoenix 2024 edition for dance games in place of the usual StepManiaX.
Aside from the rhythm games, I noticed a few newer games out on the floor! They had the smaller edition of the latest Fast & Furious. There was also the new Lane Master Extreme, which is a ton of fun to play. And this was also my first time seeing the impressively sculpted Godzilla vs. Kong whacker!
During my visit, they were busy constructing a new Space Invaders Frenzy machine, and one of the people working there mentioned that they were planning on bringing even more games up there in the near future. One that was mentioned was the Japanese rhythm game Chunithm, which is another personal favorite of mine so I'll definitely be looking forward to that the next time I'm up in the area. (Might be a while, though, because the drive up to Albany from New Jersey was a hike, especially in the middle of a snowstorm!)

When I first went there I hoped it would have games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat along with a few other classics games in the mix with new ones but was letdown the moment I went inside. Managment told me they’re open to suggestions so I hope they’ll Make Arcade Great Again.
