Avatar was something I watched in my early 20's and has become such a comfort show to me. For me it has maintained is relevance throughout the years and I sincerely hope you love it ^^
You don't have to be into volleyball to absolutely love haikyuu. It's not just about volleyball, it's a super emotional, heartwarming story of a driven boy with a handicap chasing his dream. But not just him, everyone in his team and all the side characters have emotional backstories we get into. It's honestly so good. It's one of the best storytellings out there. There's a reason why it's so beloved.

My daughter & I used to watch Avatar the Last Airbender all the time when she was little (she's now 28) & we loved it!
In 2024 I'll be continuing on with Berserk, Witch Hat Atelier & The Girl From The Other Side. Just started The Blade Itself & liking it a lot so far, so more Joe Abercrombie in my future!

So excited to see you starting Haikyuu. I have watched the anime, it was a slow burner in beginning but as it went on it became my one of the favorite. Can't say about manga but anime was fantastic, so, excited to see your opinions.
Regarding recs, i have come across a manga - "ranking of kings", it brought tears to my eyes in just the beginning of the chapters, as you like endearing stories, you may check it out. It's about a deaf and dumb prince trying to be a great king, the art is simplistic but story is top notch.
Another recommendation i would give is a web novel I have came to know about recently, it's, " the wandering inn". And gosh it seems to be the one of the best story I have ever read, and many people who read it think so, but I still think it's underrated, it's about a modern girl landing up in a mediaeval type of fantasy video game ,so you might enjoy it. The language is super accessible and some chapters just tugs at heart, there's a lot of growth in character arcs, magic, politics, friendship, adventure. It's really long though and have heard people it's audiobook is very good too so maybe you can try that mode. Just some chapters and am sure you will be hooked.
Also though you said you are cautious around shounen manga am still going to recommend like one piece, Naruto, bleach, hunter x hunter, gintama, Dororo etc. So give them a try eventually, I think you are going to have lot of fun with them.

I’m so excited for you to be watching avatar the last air bender for the first time!! I read the first ten volumes of jujutsu kaisen and was having a fun time but it didn’t have anything substantial for me so I put it down once I had my fill. That tends to be how I feel about most shonen series for some reason
I'm surprised you've never watched Avatar... for some reason you give big Avatar fan vibes. I think you will like it!

Well, big corps love to adapt already loved IPs exactly for that reason, they reduce risk cathering to already known and loved properties with big established fanbase.
I think you will love Avatar and A Silent Voice... But Jujutsu Kaisen maybe not that much.
Also, its weird you say Comics are not that accessible, i always see a lot of TPB on amazon, i also preffer physical and never find any problem getting TPB or Harcover in the case of bd comics.

I'm also tired of remakes, but after a little bit of thinking, ATLA deserves at least a decent adaption after that atrocious movie-that-never-happened.
My husband watched ALL of attack on Titan without me, and I tried to get him to re-watch it all with me, and he won't; says it is too long to re-watch right now, haha, so I guess I am on my own!

Yes I’m so sick of all these new adaptations, and I really do think it backlists other stories in the same mediums. Also some things just don’t need to be adapted😭
Avatar the Last Airbender is amazing. It came out when I was in high school, and as far as I know, I was the only one watching it.
I am getting very tired of all the adaptations of animated things. I firmly believe that there's nothing live-action can do, that looks better than animation. There's more (for lack of a better word) freedom with animation with how characters can move and look.

Jujtusu Kasien is very different from the manga in it's realm I can not wait to hear about how you feel about the manga I have been watching anime and its very good. I just finished Avatar the last airbender for the first time I think hearing that the live action coming out some time leads people to look at story even more then watching the live action. If live action gets people to want to watch the original material its good but I am very much over it because even One Piece I am like I could have lived with how it is and been good.
I personally dont care about live action remakes. I dont mind spinoff tho (if they are good).

Jujustu Kaisen: I watched the first few episodes of the anime, and I couldn't take it anymore. anyone or anything with more than two eyes (or boobs) I find really disturbing. When a MC is this way, I'm so out!
