I'm very late into the New Year, but thank you so much for watching! Have had a LOT of personal business to tend to but the next few week should be pretty loaded with videos. I've had a lot of great friends from all over the WORLD help out to get these old cars OUT and bring the new ones in (and hopefully get them working)! Wishing everyone a Healthy and Prosperous New Year!!!

Not so sure about that emblem swap on the airbag though... looking at the old airbag, it kinda looks like the cover is designed to split around the emblem during deployment... wondering if the swapped emblem might cause deployment issues that could injure you (e.g. a flying emblem to the face!)

That was actually a great update. Good to see so many companies producing kits for manual conversions in this cars, the reality is that for a 360 is not the price that stops the F1 system to be repaired, is the parts that are getting hard and in some cases impossible to get, so manual is the only option for keeping them on the road.
    And Happy New Year Sam

These cars use Magneti-Marelli ETM's and these suffer from wear on the resistive tracks. It makes the throttle judder and ABS/CC fail. (Same as Volvo S60/V70 2000-2003?)
A company called Xemodex makes coversions where they convert the ETM from mechanical to magnetische. Way more reliable. Recommended.

In your situation with that pan plug stuck behind things, I'd use a ball valve type replacement plug that won't start draining until you plug the drain hose into it. It's $50, but stainless steel and once it's on you never have to worry about spills, mess, crush washers, or stripped drian plug threads again, as it's good for the lifetime of the car.

I always change oil on my Mercedes and VW cars with an extractor. It's factory recommended for Mercedes, and on VW, there's not but maybe a teaspoon or two of oil left in the pan. This is made up for, by using the extractor tube to suck the old oil out of the oil filter mount after removing the filter.
As someone else said here, be careful the dipstick tube doesn't "curl up" when it hits the bottom of the oil pan when you insert, otherwise it will poke up from the bottom of the oil pan, and you won't get it all. I carefully move it around.
Finally, he was using one of those cheap plastic electric extractors commonly found on Amazon, with mixed reviews and varying failures. I spent about $20 more and bought a metal one. It works just fine, and seems like it will hold up.

    • @sycostylie1

Vw and most Merc's are not dry sump engines, these have multiple low points other than the sump and thus have mulitiple drain plugs. A dip stick suction will not get to the oil in the other low points. This engine has four some lambos have 8, a Bugati veyron has 12....

A recent discovery on my 4200. When changing the oil with the front end raised up, a lot of oil does not drain until the car is lowered back down and level (probably about a quart!). I've got a really low profile oil catch pan that I purchased from the Harley dealership that still fits under there when the car isn't jacked up. Just a tip for your next oil change.
Also, when I bought mine it had been almost 5 years from its last oil change!

The one I used on my boat came with a steel tube that looked like a dipstick tube only smaller. It slide down the regular dipstick tube.

you can put a funnel near the plug, so when you remove the plug the oil falls on the funnel and not the nice skid plate

Hi Sam, did it work? Is there any follow-up on the F360? I binge-watched all 24 videos and the playlist ended up on this episode. I'd be interested to know how it worked with the manual shift and what happened to the F360. Cheers

Joo Sam, I really don't recommend doing an oil change by sucking out the old oil simply because you don't get rid of the sludge in the oil pan. I know a few manufacturers do it this way, but it's just silly and could cost you big time in the long run. Just my two cents. Love the V8 Italian, keep it up brother.

Penzoil is great, I always buy it on sale at Walmart, it flows so much better than conventional oil. However, for engines with a lot of mileage, full synthetic oil flows so good that the engine can develop oil leaks. That's why, for worn engines, I prefere conventional oil.
