    Thanks for this video, man. I have multiple sclerosis and it’s getting to be that time where driving is more of a chore than a privilege... unpredictably scary, too. You sold me on these. I was looking at a couple of them but this video definitely sold me on the Quickstick. Thanks man!

    Randy Todd, have you ever heard of The Kemp system it's placed on the steering wheel it's a ring and you lightly press on it to go and release to stop. If they have an Ability day Expo in your neck of the woods any of the new gadgets for handy abiled folks like yourself can attend. Moreover, the registration is free Moreover, they have speakers like yourself that also are great motivators. Great video as usual and thanks for keeping us informed.

      I’ve been to the Ability Expo before. They had a race car there that had the ring around the steering wheel. The clutch was on the stick shift, pull lever and shift. It was a very cool setup.

    Thank you for this video. I’m newly in need of this system, having lost my legs due to MS and some unrelated progressive axonal neuropathy.I’m 49 and pretty afraid of trying to learn to derive again…feeling the car’s vibration and using intuition has me staying away from driving, more often than not. But you gave me hope. I think I can do this. I see you have it on your right hand side, I think I will place it there myself. Have you used this in conjunction with a spinner ball? Does it help or get in the way?

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad you are encouraged to drive again. You can do this. I have not used a spinner ball but only because I have good strength in my hands and arms. To me, a spinner ball gets in the way but it might be very beneficial to you. Everyone is different.
      I do suggest practicing in a safe space with a friend or family member before attempting any driving test or driving with traffic. There are some organizations that may help with you learning to drive again. Research, reach out, and do it. You’ve got this. Best of luck.

    Do you have to go to a rehab center to get evaluated for portable hand controls?

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It might depend on your state. In Florida, it was only recommended, it’s not required. It might be a good idea if you don’t have a lot of experience driving. If you do have a lot of experience, just practice using the portable hand controls before you take the driving test.

    Hi Randy> Nice video! I have neuropathy and sadly it's now in my big toe. I am unable to feel my toe therefore
    , when i place my foot on the gas pedal I can't tell if it's on there solid or partly off and will slip off as I brake. Same with gas pedal.
    I love to drive so need to get some hand controls. Looks like a whole new world compared to learning the regular way to drive.
    My motto will be JUST DO IT!

    Thank u for your video! 2months ago my MS took my ability to drive. I am unable to use my legs now since I’m getting weaker now. Been looking for options and bumped into your video. I think this is so far the most affordable i can get since it costs an arm an a leg to go through a company and get my car modified with hand controls. I do have a question, is it hard to press the button for gas pedal or easy like a joystick? Thank you and take care!

    That looks like a complete death trap wriggling around like that, and you can only steer with one hand.
    You can get ones that attach onto the steering wheel and a steering ball. It's much easier and safer.

    Randy how long does it take to learn to use this device?
    Also Can I set it up just to use the brakes and I use the gas petal with my foot still?

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheryl. I practiced for 10 minutes before I took my driving test. It was very easy and intuitive. If you want to only use it for the brake, you could remove the gas petal side of it. Then all you have to do is push with the palm of your hand to brake. It’s honestly so very simple. Good luck!

    How did you get insurance with out a driver's license? I'm in Arkansas and studying for my driver's license. And can't get insurance for my truck because I don't have a driver's license. Could you please help me with any info . Thank you forvyour very impressive video.

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to use someone’s car to do the driving test to get my license. Then once I got a car, I had no problem getting insurance. Maybe you can have someone drive you to take the driving test and use their car or if the DMV, or whatever it’s called in Arkansas, has a car you can use to take the driving test. Rehab facilities also usually have a driving program. I hope that helps you. Good luck!

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frank, these are really easy to install yourself or with the help of a friend. They have clamps that go over the pedals, tighten the wing-nuts, and you’re good to go. Very portable. Depending on the state, an evaluation isn’t needed, just some practice.

      Technically, yes. They can clamp to any pedal. I wouldn’t recommend it though unless you still have a foot to operate the clutch. If you’re paralyzed like me, there are other setups that enable us to drive a manual but they are more complicated.

    His steering style is all wrong. To use the reverse hold on the steering wheel will lead to problems when he encounters a skid.

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone has their own style of driving that works for them and their hand controls. I don’t know what you mean by it’s all wrong. Works for me just fine, never had an issue. Why would I encounter a skid in reverse?

    • @danielthomas3333
      @danielthomas3333 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Todd
      When you hold the wheel with your reversed grip you loose the versatility of steering into a skid. Admittedly you didn’t do it at highway speed. But when driving on snow and ice you could run into trouble

    • @RandyTodd
      @RandyTodd  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahhh I see what you mean. Yeah, not a problem here in Florida.
