9:10 I work as a cashier in a small grocery store. Several homeless guys come over daily to buy those tiny one-shot bottles of booze. Short before Christmas, one of them came in crying, asking if he could have one vodka and pay for it later - somebody _stole his backpack with everything he owned._ I gave him that vodka. Later, after my shift ended, I went on to buy a new backpack, a wallet, filled it up with food, some hygiene products and all the leftover cash I had. It was altogether a bit over 100€, but I thought, it's Christmas, so what the hell. To say he was happy would be a gross understatement.
*The shit I got for this from people was appaling.* I was so very disappointed with the sheer amount of folks who felt the need to inform me how "handouts to this kind just encourages them" - to do what exactly? To continue not having a roof to sleep under? Some people wear their complete lack of compassion like it's a crown. To think I used to wonder why would nazis ever get votes... I get it now. These people are not rare. They're not few and far between. Fcking disgusting.

    • @masterkevkev
      @masterkevkev 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

They'll bitch about the homeless being around, in their sight - as if they should get away *SOMEHOW* and go somewhere else; But at the same time if they *DO* get help and live somewhere out of the kindness of someone else's heart to give them a chance their own greedy asses were given (to obtain a job, family, something to help them propel in the first world country) - they'll snap back and state awful shit.
They're vile. Some people just have bad luck. Some lose families in accidents, some obtain cancer, some get laid off and get screwed over with accident after disaster after misfortune. There's a thing called debt and rent that always keeps going up per month, per year, with no repercussions to the rich assholes who could slow it or stop it. But lord knows the people who are lucky who have dodged all of these are the deserving ones to stay not homeless and have the right to degrade those who are - and to those who try to help. Lord knows those who help the homeless are dumb, whilst they also go out to order packs of cigarettes and care about avocado toast or to figure out which out of their 4 streaming platforms they use little of to potentially cancel so they save a bit of money.
I'm not saying people deserve death, but lord some of them deserve to suffer in *some* capacity... be it large or small - to put their ass into place. When any of them get homeless - they'll blame the world and state how it's unfair or unfun but never see the hypocrisy they've stated or how much of a hypocrite they are in the present.
Also, long rant aside- Thank you for being a considerate person. It's a shame that *needs to be thanked* now for how rare it is, when it should be *common* ... but you (should) hopefully know there are those who appreciate what you've done and wish for you to live a happy and long life. I am one of those people, and I'm sure the 25 others who liked the comment are more-or-less the same. Your kindness may never be repaid in any physical capacity, but I hope life pays it forward in a positive way. ☺

It sounds like they're buying into Suella Braverman's nonsense about sleeping rough being a "lifestyle choice" - a notion which she used to try to justify banning homeless people in the UK from sleeping in tents. Fr I do believe that we should encourage people to work and support themselves however, there’s nothing wrong with offering help to those who need it. It’s one thing if these people are always coming around asking for handouts and not doing anything for themselves, but we should care for them and we should be nice to them. You seem like a great person based on this. Keep doing what you do and ignore the selfish people who look down on the homeless.

The fact that you've got people saying "Lol, calm down, schools aren't indoctrinating anyone" is kinda sad but hilarious since it shows our school system has failed these people because this is LITERALLY a form of indoctrination. More fucked up is that the union was actually still on the fence. They only declared they were fighting slavery (if my education was good) to deter foreign support going to the south. They still had slave states in the union, even after the war ended. The 13th came a bit after the war. The emancipation proclamation was only to the confederate states.
Crazy shit how we were fucked up back then. We have definitely progressed alot. But got a ways left to go. And if i recall, Mississippi is known for the Lost Cause education, teaching this bs of states rights. But likely some spots in the other states. Interestingly enough I can agree one of the biggest lessons that employment ha taught me is that efficient workers get punished with more work but if the leadership is terrible, they will somehow flip your efficiency as an issue.
I had my role change at my last job after an accident and guess who was being told off for asking for tasks to do because I finished my tasks and anything else that I could help with, I couldn’t because of lifting limitations. The amount of times I was bullshitting my way to the end of the day. I literally would count stock just to have something to do. I rearranged stock a lot too.
That or they see it as a reason to not let you progress further. It took me 2 years at McDonald’s to get into the kitchen because I was too damn good at the drive thru. And it ended up being I provided myself to be an asset in kitchen as well. Shocker. The biggest plot twist is the fact that they never made me a crew trainer. Even though I knew all the standard stations, I was training other crew and also helping to maintain proper food hygiene when even managers were missing it. Heck me and another guy were running the store cause the manager (with 15+ years experience at McDonalds) that shift was shit, I’m talking managing breaks for the crew, making sure people are going home when they are meant to be, dealing with customers, assigning people tasks or station changing when needed. we were two crew members, I had been working at McDonald’s for about 3 almost 3.5 years at this point, running that store.
So yeah. Don’t be efficient. You either get stacked with more work, get grilled for completing tasks and asking for more work or you just don’t get to progress at all.

Our office is in the middle of Texas, so when he saw me wear my "Ride with Pride" shirt one day, he went on a bit of a rant about how he "never uses pronouns" and "only idiots do that". I asked him if he would be OK with me never using any pronouns on him, and he instantly replied "Yeah, duh!". So from then on he was Kevin. "Can Kevin take out the trash so I can clean the counters?","What did Kevin do over the weekend?""Can everyone and also Kevin join us for the team meeting?" *All* of these questions were directed at him by the way. He tried reporting me to HR (especially after almost everyone working there joined in). But when I was called in, I simply acted confused and said that "Kevin specifically asked me not to use any pronouns on Kevin. I have several queer friends who genuinely don't use pronouns, and I wanted to respect Kevin's wishes." Kevin quit not too long after.

As someone who can only drink decaf for neurodivergence reasons; a certain part of the coffee lovers can somehow get absolutely rabid about coffee. No joke, I've legit been told to kys for that multiple times before I could even explain why. I mean, I'm autistic, and that caffeine messes with my ability to generally process conversational information so badly that someone could tell me something 5 times, and I STILL wouldn't remember what they actually said. Not to mention a migraine the next day that's so bad that I'm really only able get out of bed to use the bathroom, and that's literally it for the entire day. And I sadly had to learn all of that the hard way back in high school, so can you even blame me for permanently switching to decaf whenever I do drink coffee if that's the tradeoff? So whenever some coffee lover goes absolutely batsh*t at me again for not drinking any kind of caffeinated drinks at all, I always have the urge to tell them that, and go 'Well, excuuuuse me, Karen, or not wanting to go through that again!' It's so funny how hard they want to backpedal after that all of a sudden, though. Like, it's not that I don't drink coffee at all, it just has to be decaf if I actually want to function that day. Most coffee fans are nice and definitely respect my choice on that one, but I swear; a certain part of them probably needs professional help.

Before the Civil War started Lincoln pledged to keep slavery from spreading to new states, but also promised he wasn't going to try to abolish it in states that already had it. I haven't seen any evidence he was intending to break that promise. Regardless the slave holding states didn't believe him and decided to break away. Lincoln initially started the war just to keep the US together, but at a certain point abolishing slavery became a convenient political tool for him to use.
So yes it was all about keeping slavery from the South's end of things, but the North was more about keeping the nation together with ending slavery as a convenient side-quest. However since the South was the initiator of the conflict by breaking away it is true to call the war as being over slavery.

Fun fact about food preferences: what we like and dislike is, at least partially, determined by our genetics. The rest of determined by our upbringing and our experiences. A decent portion of the population of America has a sensitivity to tannins, a compound commonly found in teas, coffee, chocolate, and wine. People who like dark chocolate, black coffee, strong black tea, or red wine likely don't have that sensitivity. If you find those things overwhelmingly bitter or astringent, that's a good indication of a sensitivity. I don't have any issues with tannins, so red wine and dark chocolate are my favorites of the available variations, but I prefer my teas and coffee with milk and sugar because it's easier to chug it without irritating my stomach before I have to go do something. This is an example of my genetics vs my experiences, where tannins don't cause my an issue on a biological level, but it can cause an inconvenience to my day to day if I'm in a rush.
It's a similar story with the more spicy compounds too, where biology plays a role with your internal reward system and hijacks the pain into a dopamine rush for certain people.

There are many reasons why you might be in someone’s yard such as if you’re delivering something , crossing through, or retrieving something you dropped. Yards are more gray areas for that reason. However, considering that going into the yard to put something on their property is a little bit different than going into someone’s yard because you dropped your ball or because you have to cross through it to the doorbell or something like that, I feel like it’s different. You don’t really get charged for trespassing unless you are told to leave and you don’t or you enter the actual house or into a fenced area. The cross can easily be removed so it’s unlikely you’d be charged for defacing either. 7:55 oh lord this is another area where the education about sex and genetics is lacking in high school. The reason you can know who the mother is 100% is because of mitochondrial dna is passed only through the mother. Men’s mitochondrial dna is the tail of the sperm propelling it forward and is used up so it isn’t passed on. Essentially linage is accurately traced through the female line. There is an awesome book called “The Seven Daughters of Eve” by Bryan Sykes. No it isn’t a religion based book it at all. It explains genetics and tracing lineage. The title will make more sense once you read it. I promise it is all science.
I didn’t write this because I think Robin agrees with that dumb meme I just thought sharing the knowledge and the 1st book that taught me about it. It is an accessible text even if you have only a basic understanding of DNA.

As a true chocolate lover, I love dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and yes, white chocolate. The thing about dark chocolate though is, the higher the cocoa content, the purer the chocolate is. But there are plenty of "dark chocolates" that don't even reach 50% cocoa. And many milk chocolate barely pass beyond 30% cocoa. Then there's white chocolate which, technically isn't real chocolate, but still made from cocoa butter. This is what dark chocolate snobs are on about.
I am one of those people who can and literally have enjoy a plain 100% cocoa chocolate bar but also someone who loves a Hersey's milk chocolate and loves a Hersey's Cookies and Cream.
But if you want to try a milk chocolate that actually has a high cocoa content, try a bar called "Endangerered Species Chocolate". Their milk chocolate has 48% cocoa which is higher than Hersey's Dark Chocolate. And OMG! The chocolate is smooth and creamy and melts evenly in your mouth, isn't overly sweet, but by no means bitter.
