FYI: This is a premiere for our channel. Not a repeat or reupload. Thank you. Years of war have left Congo’s infrastructure in ruins. In a country with no airport, no viable rail system, and where the roads are almost totally unusable, transporting goods has become a serious problem. A journey of a few hundred miles can take a month. We accompany the ‘Prince of the Highways’, Domingo, as he navigates his truck, laden with goods and passengers, through swamps and jungle. Despite the assistance of three escorts, the journey turns into a nightmare. Need more? Tom Hamilton could read ingredients on a cereal box and make it captivating I will never complain about road construction in my country again. Love this series going to places I will never be able to travel.
I love this series! When one pops up in time for breakfast I love sitting down watching it. And this guy is my favourite narrator. Roads documentaries and this guy are such a pair
The driver refuses to pay the village woman then Eugene tells her it’s not his problem, even though earlier in the video he said, everyone on board was his responsibility if something happened. Then the truck breaks down 🤦🏿♀️ should have paid the lady.
What is happening is rampant corruption without a shred of investment into infrastructure. Infrastructure is the single deciding factor when it comes to an economy. That's it. It's why in the US a truck carrying double the amount of goods these trucks carry can transport them from New York to Los Angeles(almost 2,800 MILES, not kilometers) in the time it takes one of these trucks to travel a fraction of that distance with less than half the goods. To top it all off, none of those goods in the Congo represent any amount of significant capital going towards taxes to pay for infrastructure. Meaning all that's happening is they're sinking themselves deeper and deeper until they actually put a proper governmental system in place to regulate taxes and how they're spent.
@@deenasmusicbox Someone says it's Tom Hamilton? The guy deserves a lot of credit! His intonation is so perfectly timed, like he's one of the guy in the film. I love his voice! Watching from Switzerland. Deadliest Roads is a whole new level of "Highway Thru Hell"!!
