In my early 20’s I lived at the north boundary of a 22,000 sq mile Indian reservation. There were between 9 and 10 thousand residents there. We lived by a small lake in a housing community and folks would often walk their dogs or go horseback riding on trails in the area. While exploring early one summer I found an amazing patch of wild mountain blackberries -the kind that people covet for pies and preserves and when you find a patch that amazing you guard it’s location like Gold is buried there. This patch was about the size of a costco parking lot . There were literally large mounds of vines covering other vegetation and stumps from felled trees. Mounds high enough that you couldn’t see around or over them. I quickly gathered some and went home for buckets to gather more. I spent whole days out there feeling like I had won the lottery and my freezer and pantry were filling up and i had made several pies to freeze. I never saw anyone else out there which seemed odd considering how many people lived in this community and how close it was to a paved road. I had never seen a bear in our community let alone anywhere that I went in the foothills and mountains so other than in a zoo I had zero knowledge or preparation for what to do if I came across a bear. I now know just how foolish I was to assume there wouldn’t be bears in the area. The last day I went out berry picking I noticed some odd, almost black colored piles of what I surmised was animal scat here and there. I wasn’t sure what animal made it and at first I wondered if maybe a horse had done it. Then I looked closer and saw lots of blackberry seeds throughout the piles and immediately my heart started pounding and I got scared stiff. I watched enough wildlife documentaries to know that bears were particularly fond of berries and I knew then that what I was seeing was bear scat. It looked fairly fresh. Let me tell you I listened very carefully and watched for movement as I quickly gathered up my buckets and started to my car about 500 feet away at the edge of this logged off area. I made it and that was the last time I went to that patch. I thank God I didn’t run into that bear because I would likely have been mauled to death.

@Bruce Wayne Riiiigghhtttttttt?! They’re TOO SHORT and that’s THAT!! 😂🙅🏼♀️ I’m going to be so sad when he runs out of stories ☹️ I have already resorted to watching videos of big game hunts for bears. Sometimes they are unpredictable and thrilling! Just hate the bear dies tho 😟 But I have to remember hunting in moderation is a useful tool to keep populations under control and keep more of a balance. I know things can get crazy if a species is overrun! Anyway, yeah! Can’t wait for the next episode! I’m always waiting so impatiently 🤣🤣
I have been binge watching your videos. TH-cam started recommending your channel since I have been subscribed to 'sharks happen' for months. I'm glad I finally gave in and watched a video, now I'm working my way through your content 🙂
The crowding of bears to 1 per 2 sq miles is insane. Food must be plentiful, but territorial fights must be common. It's like the ursine inner city. I read that mountain lions need 50 sq miles to set up shop. Thomas' life was a dream until that damn motor issue. That is no way to die. Great video.
There seems to be a common denominator here, no weapons, or signaling devices? Go prepared, and stay alive. Think Redundancy, in your coms and defense.
All these stories make it all the more mysterious how Tim Treadwell managed to survive so long and actually live among hundreds of bears and even name them. The luckiest man in history?
There was plenty of food and he was included in a hierarchy of power, but being able to maintain that is a big deal. As far as I know, Timothy may not have noticed the redistribution of the cards in the game when he came back to bear territory after arguing at the airport. A bear that is troubled, old and comes in front of him to accumulate fat for the winter may have perceived the rules for himself.
@@kamalrex1 I’d never read it in those terms, but I think that’s exactly what happened! Though humans may not have been on the menu for the bears he visited the previous season, any number of factors can change that. I believe I remember reading that the salmon hadn’t run that season, or perhaps I’m recalling a different bear attack story (entirely possibly since I’ve watched every video on this channel). At any rate, in the case of poor Tim and Amie, I know they were staying in the area later in the fall then usual too, so that alone is gonna have bears in a hungrier mood, and adding in a scarcity of their natural food sources basically meant they had everything working against them.
@@nickyurick8313 I'm satisfied . Thanks , Nick . I think this bear was a troubled bear they called the "red machine". In another source, I read that bears from another region who cannot recognize them can cause this event. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee anywhere, but it is in our interest to make the most of the contribution of science. I am very sorry for my english.
Glad to hear that you've sped up the playback speed of your voice. It used to be so slow it sounded like you were drunk or something, and was distracting. This video seems normal speed. Much better! Thank you!
Crazy how many new videos of bear attacks I see, that's why I pack a 10mm in the woods when I am bow hunting, I also have the Washington State archery black bear record, I have him rugged out, he takes up a HUGE part of the wall
Love the videos. Just a suggestion to always remember to include the 5Ws. You many times forget to include the date of the events. Also more real pics as opposed to stock pics help people visualize the story. Keep up the great work!
But he already covered all the 5Ws. WHO? Names the victims WHAT? A bear attack WHEN? Gives us general info when it happened WHERE? He literally shows us the exact location on a map! WHY? Because it's a freaking bear attack that's why! I don't mind the stock pics, he usually includes real pics of the victims most of the time at the beginning of each video in case you haven't noticed.
I never used to be too afraid of bears in my area but now I always take my Marlin 1895 .45-70 when camping, canoeing and fishing. I like to be prepared, I will always try to scare a bear away first but I have no desire to become a statistic. Also I keep an airhorn in my tent at night.
Almost thought it was Bruce Campbell doing the narrating for a sec there, dude sounds just like him. I'm so happy i live in a country without bears, i could not imagine coming face to face with one, no thank you :)
It's deplorable that a logging company wouldn't have basic worker safety procedures in place. Having only one engine, no firearm, and only one person seems to risk exactly this type of accident/injury/death. Fie on the logging company.
You're exactly right. Reminds me of my grandfather telling me about how during the Korean war it was impossible to find young loggers and older folks was afraid of alligators in the swamps so he and a friend would have to go out at night and wade into the swamp with a lantern to capture and relocate big gators so that the ole timers would come to work. St Regis was the largest paper mill in the world back then. One would think that they could have afforded a better solution.
@@jumpingjackflash1214 AWW! They relocated them? They were not only brave to do such dangerous work but respected the animals who lived there by treating them humanely as possible. I'm glad the company did that. But what were loggers doing in swamps?💓🐊
@@isabellind1292 swamps have tons of trees. Cypress, mangrove, several kinds of oak and pine and many others. Some Florida swamps are having trouble due to melaleuca, one of the most invasive species we have. They use up a ton of water so are actually drying out wetlands and marshes, which destroys the habitat of a lot of other species and it crowds out other plants. But the biggest problem with getting rid of them, or even checking their numbers, is that they grow extremely fast and drop a lot of seeds and multiply like crazy.
Been there. A stalking bear intent on killing and eating you is terrifying. Bears are incredibly intelligent and use this intelligence in many ways. Another reason to have a Honda engine.
Whoa, now that's a string of unfortunate events for Thomas Puerta. It seems a bit odd that he was minding his own business near the shore and had a fire going, not roaming around in the woods and he still ends up on this channel. It kinda makes me wonder if he was their first human prey because the circumstances aren't typical. Thanks for another interesting tale!
@@timeittakestoletgo1687 Yes, I have no doubts that they have killed other humans. Polar bears usually have such a limited supply of food that they even eat each other if the cupboard gets bare.
You'd be surprised how many people don't watch TH-cam videos about bear attacks. They just don't know what we know and that works out well for us viewers and for the bears.
When logging/thinning, you watch out for the bar + chain, trees falling, and widowmakers. I'm sure a trip into town for shopping wasn't high on his list of dangerous times.
I been listening to ALOT of these videos I can't stop listening to the action. I didn't know so many people got attack by so many 🐻. It ALOT things in the woods and very damage
Great stories. Sad for those mauled and sometimes killed, though. I've been to Alaska twice and would love to live there for one year to experience the seasons both short and long. I am in love with bears 🐻 and bear behavior. I've read every book about bears starting with Stephen Herrero. Such amazing animals. And so many odd things people believe about bears. You're doing a super job. I live on the Outer Banks of N.C where on the mainland across from us live the largest black bears in the country. We're talking up to 800 lbs. For real!
I’m from NC and you are correct…. As a child, I was rabbit hunting with my daddy… I will never forget hearing a noise and in the distance I saw a huge black mass. I told my dad, there’s a bear and he said oh it’s probably just a cow. I think he was trying to keep me calm. I remember saying a cows in the woods Daddy. Needless to say he picked me up threw me over shoulders and we took off. All he had was a 22 and that wasn’t taking that big boy down. We made it back to the truck and he was screaming for his dogs. He wouldn’t of left without them. Thankfully they were well trained and listen to his commands. By the time we closed the dog box and got into the truck the bear was already on the tailgate. I’ve never forgotten that and how terrified I was…
Love this channel sorry for the loss of this guys life remember it's the bears home and you're seen as a threat and you have to be on your guard always thanks for sharing enjoyed the live!!
Heya Scary, I was wondering how long we'd have to wait for another attack. Wow, poor ole' Thomas, no gun, no spray, cooking food, no chance. Travelling alone also.... These bears eat each other right? A man would be such an easy snack and I wouldn't imagine a sow and two cubs would leave much behind. They probably smelled the kill, investigated, and got "fitted up". Wrong place, wrong time, just like Thomas . Just a thought... Thanks for your report. Another timely safety briefing.
What's amazing to me is all these people seem to have one thing in common NO Protection, Yes he was in a boat but many things can happen that put you on the shore and the bear yelling to the kids hey dinner has just arrived. If it were me I would have on me at all times 5 lines of defense a boat aerosol horn, bear spray, 10mm glock with chest holster, 45/70 lever action rifle, bush knife, and hope I never need them. Even with those items you can still be killed, bears can be quiet and fast and be on you in seconds. I enjoy your video's and we need to learn from them on knowing what not to do when in the bears house.
I agree with you. I feel like my truck and car will get me where I'm going but you never know when you might have a breakdown. I always carry protection. No grizzly's in my state but plenty of other dangerous things.

Yayyyyy!! Was just watching your other channel as I’ve watched all the bear attacks! Desperately want them to be longer 😩😭😣🥺 I love your videos! Grizzly bears are one of the scariest things to me on earth yet so unbelievably fascinating! More more moreeeee please! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you very much! I really appreciate you!
Great job, once again! Truly a nightmarish situation.
Thank you!
@@scarybearattacks You're welcome.
Love your work
Thank you!
Always enjoy your videos and the background information you share ☺️
Thank you! I seriously put hours of research into each of these videos out of respect for all parties involved and you viewers.
I have been binge watching your videos. TH-cam started recommending your channel since I have been subscribed to 'sharks happen' for months. I'm glad I finally gave in and watched a video, now I'm working my way through your content 🙂
I'm flattered and thankful to have you! Take care and enjoy! Feedback welcome!
This guy is the goat of bear stories
Thank you!
Thank you! Take care!
There seems to be a common denominator here, no weapons, or signaling devices? Go prepared, and stay alive. Think Redundancy, in your coms and defense.
Another horror movie in my mind. The narration of the stories is greatly improved. Thanks!
Thank you! I'm trying to get better :)
Not very smart for a man to pull out food in an area with SO MANY bear.
And to not be armed?? People must pay attention.
Thank you for the video.... ❤️
Your welcome Gypsy Lady! 😃
Great footage in this video!! You're really improving! 💜🐻🐻❄️🧸
Thank you Nancy! Take care!
@4:58, I understand using stock footage but 14 seconds of this creepy dude just staring at the camera?!
Lol good point!
@@scarybearattacks use him as a thumbnail, he is scarier than some of the bears! lol love your work, much love. 🇨🇦🍻👉
Looks like a "Gain of Function " research Scientist.
😱 wow that's a lot of bear's in one place. Poor guy, may he rest in peace, 🙏. Another interesting video thanks 🖤
Thank you and please take care!
Its scary listening to these stories so I appreciate that the videos are short, otherwise its too stressful for me lol
Thank you!
Really enjoy hearing these. Keep up the good work. Maybe do shark attacks next as that way you could do longer vids. Anyway thx from Texas
Thank you! Great idea 💡
I don't know about Tim Treadwell being lucky. His ending was predicted but terrifying!!!
@@markalan8017 Unlucky for the four bears who paid for it w/their lives even though none of them did anything wrong.
Two bear per square mile ?? OMG That's a lot of bears !
Admiralty, Baranof, Chichagof Islands (ABC)
i wish people were more aware going into bear country. it’s rare to be attacked by a bear, but you never know if you will be the next one
That's right Nicholas!
Bears are like a cross between a dog, gorilla, and lion. Shaaaaat!!!!
Yes thankyou scary bear man we all love you brother
Thank you very much and love you too!
Great content! Thanks for working so hard!
Thank you my friend!
Another well done story buddy....no way am I going there without spray or a firearm. Thank you.
Thank you and take care my friend!
Never knew about the bell but congratulations you are my first channel I’ve used to bell on.
Thank you my friend!
Glad to hear that you've sped up the playback speed of your voice. It used to be so slow it sounded like you were drunk or something, and was distracting. This video seems normal speed. Much better! Thank you!
Thank you and I really do appreciate your feedback.
The stare of the labcoat guy at 4:57 is giving me the creeps
He stared a little too hard didn’t he?
@@richardcranium3417 I think he's trying to hypnotize me
Bears scare shit out of me 😳 enjoyed the video thank you 💗
That is the mystique of bears. They are powerful and mesmerizing. Thank you for watching my videos and I hope you have a wonderful safe weekend!
Same.
Me too! The way some feel about sharks, I feel about bears. Could never camp or hike in bear country. There would be that one rogue......
Crazy how many new videos of bear attacks I see, that's why I pack a 10mm in the woods when I am bow hunting, I also have the Washington State archery black bear record, I have him rugged out, he takes up a HUGE part of the wall
2 bears for mile2...I wouldn't even visit that island for 20 minutes
Excellent narration!
Thank you!
I love this channel.
Thank you!
Love the videos. Just a suggestion to always remember to include the 5Ws. You many times forget to include the date of the events. Also more real pics as opposed to stock pics help people visualize the story. Keep up the great work!
But what are the 5 w's? Who what when where why? Sorry for when I skip important info. Some of these cases make my toes cramp. Seriously.
But he already covered all the 5Ws.
WHO? Names the victims
WHAT? A bear attack
WHEN? Gives us general info when it happened WHERE? He literally shows us the exact location on a map!
WHY? Because it's a freaking bear attack that's why!
I don't mind the stock pics, he usually includes real pics of the victims most of the time at the beginning of each video in case you haven't noticed.
I never used to be too afraid of bears in my area but now I always take my Marlin 1895 .45-70 when camping, canoeing and fishing. I like to be prepared, I will always try to scare a bear away first but I have no desire to become a statistic. Also I keep an airhorn in my tent at night.
Amazing again brother!
Thank you my friend! I appreciate you!
I’m early for this one. Good story as always 🙂
Thank you!
I wouldn't walk through any woods where bear lives, just horrible.
Almost thought it was Bruce Campbell doing the narrating for a sec there, dude sounds just like him. I'm so happy i live in a country without bears, i could not imagine coming face to face with one, no thank you :)
Thank you my friend! Take care!
He was at the wrong place at the wrong time….
I really enjoy hearing these !
Thank you!
Maybe because he was preparing food.
The Sitka brown bears have surely killed other people, but they’re related to the polar bear- who are predatory. 🐻❄️ 🐻
@@susanalexander6721 That definitely would have been of interest to them.
@@timeittakestoletgo1687 Yes, I have no doubts that they have killed other humans. Polar bears usually have such a limited supply of food that they even eat each other if the cupboard gets bare.
Cubs and food.
Scares the bejesus out of me, and live in Australia 🇦🇺 LoL 😲
🇦🇺 🇺🇸 🇺🇦

Good video's,why don't these poor people take a gun no matter what.🇦🇺🙏😔🙏
A “ gun “ doesn’t even guarantee your life or safety when dealing with a hungry bear
Buuuuuuut it helps 🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣🤣
They are prob Dem voters
@@PowerofPlacebo some guarantee is better than No guarantee
Right !
You'd be surprised how many people don't watch TH-cam videos about bear attacks. They just don't know what we know and that works out well for us viewers and for the bears.
4155 bears!!! that's a town!
Bear town😆
I desperately want to visit the wilds of Alaska one day. For now though I'll just watch this channel from Australia 🇦🇺
When logging/thinning, you watch out for the bar + chain, trees falling, and widowmakers. I'm sure a trip into town for shopping wasn't high on his list of dangerous times.
Bear says your the groceries
What a complete fool, to go into this environment without a weapon to kill bears.
Why weapons are low priority in the lion's den. Poor guy
Very generous of him to feed himself to the bears.
HEY BEARS!!!! JUST BEEN TO THE GROCERY STORE, HAVE A FULL BOAT LOAD OF FOOD AND IMMA COOK UP RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU OK....
R.I.P
I been listening to ALOT of these videos I can't stop listening to the action. I didn't know so many people got attack by so many 🐻. It ALOT things in the woods and very damage
Take care buddy!
Thank you!
I don’t think this bear saw him as a threat but saw him as dinner
Heya Scary, I was wondering how long we'd have to wait for another attack. Wow, poor ole' Thomas, no gun, no spray, cooking food, no chance.
Travelling alone also....
These bears eat each other right? A man would be such an easy snack and I wouldn't imagine a sow and two cubs would leave much behind. They probably smelled the kill, investigated, and got "fitted up". Wrong place, wrong time, just like Thomas . Just a thought... Thanks for your report. Another timely safety briefing.
Thank you and take care my friend!
No firearm? C’mon. A hunter with no gun?
Everyone carries a firearm in Alaska, even the dead people.
LOL!😀
Love these videos as a nature nut/animal/wildlife lover but damn...probably shouldn't have chosen to eat my sandwich while watching at lunchtime here in sunny CA. The decomposed carcass scene @4:33. Yeah, enter gag reflex! Salami be gone! lol
Lol sorry!
Great video. I can't believe anyone would step outside in Alaska with out a firearm. At least a 44 pistol
Thank you and take care!
I really am so interested in your videos because bears do not exist in the country I live in. I live in Fiji.
