  • Over the past couple days east coast has been getting waves from Tropical Storm Cindy so in this entry I talk about taking myself out of my comfort zone in bigger swell. I would normally not paddle out on a day like today just because of the clean up sets that where coming through. But I saw a few smaller ones roll in and wanted to see if I could connect one of the bigger ones. I also wanted to see how The Progression 140 felt in groundswell instead of wind swell. I was really pleased to see that it worked really well through all the turbulence and currents moving against me. I also decided to give the Shunt (front pressure) stab a go and it really helped with over foiling and breaching. Best part was that I could keep my mast where it was so I didn’t have to move my feet too much. All in all it was a super fun day on the ocean and stoked that I decided to give it a go. It’s kinda nuts how you feel power through the foil compared to feeling it through fins on a surfboard. Surfing is so surface based to me nowadays in the idea that a breaking wave is the only energy. With foiling everything has energy and everything below the surface is what matters.

I’ve been enjoying your updates! Your leggy string - if you loop it back through then feed your leggy through both loops it will shorten the string which is what demolished your pad
    Hope that helps yewww

Thanks! I’ve had 2 sessions now on my Uni P170 having changed from Armstrong HS wings after finding your channel. Absolutely stoked😂 I’m 7 months into prone and 18months winging. I got the Katana 830 in case I use it for winging. It’s so much better than the 720 Armstrong I’m used to, more forgiving, and the pump insane compared to what I’ve been using.

Focusing on the connecting waves is where I fall short every time I get up I just want to shred all the wave to the beach 😅

Surfline isn't very accurate for us in the sw uk , I think its because we have a long sea shelf . Windy is better, I think because they combine all weather models, learn to use the free version it's very accurate
