You might have heard that it can be tricky to get English teaching jobs in Japan for non native speakers. In fact, many of the jobs are explicitly advertised for 'native speakers' only.
You shouldn't get discouraged, though. Meet Nicholas...

What has he done? How can YOU imitate his approach?

Right now I have a bachelor's degree and a Cambridge English Assessment C2 Proficiency diploma.
If I get master's degree from the UK in Education will that increase my chances of getting hired?
I also plan on getting a Celta and a TEFL.
    What do you think?

Kakuzu [Earth Grudge Fear] I think that'll definitely help you to find the perfect English teaching job here in Japan however I prefer you to do IELTS because that's more famous in any country
Best of luck for your future !

Hi, I'm Ace from the Philippines, I watched your video and it's very informative and educational, however my question in this video is,if a person wants to go to Japan and look for a job as an English Teacher who is a Non Native English Speaker, but s/he has holding a tourist visa, how long would it take to get a job there,is it possible to apply walk in? What would be the system or the process on how to get a working visa and what are the requirements? Thank you!

Thanks for your comment. I must say I personally don't know, but I'll email your question to Nicholas to find out and get back to you. Is this OK?

Hi Ace. How long it would take to get a job is just like any other jobs out there - really depends who call you in for interview etc. As for walking in to drop your CV, I've never done it and never seen it done before, so I can't say. Perhaps this works for smaller/family-owned schools, but for bigger schools (with branches all over the country) sending the CV online will ensure it will land on the HR's inbox.
Well, first you need to have an employer who will sponsor your visa. And on your part, you basically just need an undergraduate degree equivalent in order to get a visa. Hope this helps!
