Just got promoted to Store Manager. Thank you so much for this. I have 9 months of education and no GED or High School Diploma. I'm so out of my league but with these videos I think I can handle it. Only thing on my side is 15 years of experience in pizza and 9 months of 1st asst experience. Wish me luck.

Just found your videos and this is the second one I’m watching ( I’m going in order from week 1 lesson 1) and it’s already very helpful and confirming to me I’m in the right track in some of the things you’ve said. I’ve just become a maternity cover beauty counter manager within a department store and have had 2 days at my counter which confirmed to me couple of things that I thought would be a challenge for me. But it now seem those couple of challenges will he more challenging than I thought. One issue is one of the members of staff is older than me and has worked for the brand for many years . She is clearly very capable of being a manager herself and comes across quite bossy but she is a part timer only. At the moment her attitude towards me seems to be a sort of attitude where she is telling me what I should do as a new manager at this counter which comes across to me as her taking over my role. I am scheduling to have a 1 on 1 with her next week, and speak to her about this. It’s not an option to let go off her and she does seem to be good with customers and have been here long time but would you have any advice how to handle an employee like this? I’ve had other managers roles in fashion retail and did very well but never had an employee like this to deal with, she just seems bosy and controlling.

Encouraging to fire employees within first 30 days might be a harsh decision! They might lack basic training or bad training from previous management. They deserve to know what areas they need to be improving first, they might fit in different area or departments. At the end you give them the option to resign so they can go to work in other branch that appreciates them
