Gaps of employment! You mean gaps of slavery! The more they rested at home the more their body, bones and joints will be fine and ready for work even they’re mentally fresh and hungry for work

I don’t know why you’re bashing workers like if they were your corporate slaves! The problem is not in the staff it’s the corporate greed

Encouraging to fire employees within first 30 days might be a harsh decision! They might lack basic training or bad training from previous management. They deserve to know what areas they need to be improving first, they might fit in different area or departments. At the end you give them the option to resign so they can go to work in other branch that appreciates them

I've worked as a manager for a while, and became a regional operations manager a couple years ago. Now, I manage the managers of over a dozen service locations. I came here to continue my learning and see what's on offer here. Something struck me right away. The instructor left out an extremely important lesson I learned on the job. Do NOTHING for the first few months. Just LEARN. Look at the business, take in everything, put nothing out, make NO CHANGES. That's for people walking into new employment at new locations, of course. I can tell you, if you walk in the door and start firing people, scheduling a bunch of meetings, and changing the processes and culture, they will hate you and you have no idea how the policies/actions you're taking with actually impact the business. Know the place and the people, and let them know you, BEFORE you dive in. Getting associate/employee "buy in" is supremely important. If they believe in you and your objectives, they will meet and exceed your expectations every time.

Misconstruing not seeing it with people not being vocal about it. You’re probably an example of why people have harbored disdain for the corporate work environment for decades, at least. If an ignorant know-it-all came out of left field with this BS, I’d understand why someone who isn’t an ignorant know-it-all wouldn’t want to do what they consider wasting their time and skills. Even worse, YOU DIDN’T SAY A GODDAMNED THING OF VALUE OR RELEVANCE. Management like you are precisely the issue.

I have no clue that some institutions did not allow their store managers see their P&L's That's absolutely absurd! How can you run a business? I understand why they would do it, but i just want to see how they work that out. Now I'm wondering, maybe some managers really don't do anything, but tell their workers what to do!. Wow. A world i never thought existed.

Also, if you don't understand a P&L, i suggest you actually complete an excel on your homes actual P&L.

I just stepped up into management in a store that’s in trouble. Corporate has just sent in a top store manager to clean up the store. One of this stores issues is no training! Thank you for your video. I’ve had no training. I’ve been hired purely based on work ethic. I want the store to succeed badly, but I also feel incompetent. I do not feel it’s my own fault I’m incompetent. I’m going to go listen to your video again, and take notes.

Just found your videos and this is the second one I’m watching ( I’m going in order from week 1 lesson 1) and it’s already very helpful and confirming to me I’m in the right track in some of the things you’ve said. I’ve just become a maternity cover beauty counter manager within a department store and have had 2 days at my counter which confirmed to me couple of things that I thought would be a challenge for me. But it now seem those couple of challenges will he more challenging than I thought. One issue is one of the members of staff is older than me and has worked for the brand for many years . She is clearly very capable of being a manager herself and comes across quite bossy but she is a part timer only. At the moment her attitude towards me seems to be a sort of attitude where she is telling me what I should do as a new manager at this counter which comes across to me as her taking over my role. I am scheduling to have a 1 on 1 with her next week, and speak to her about this. It’s not an option to let go off her and she does seem to be good with customers and have been here long time but would you have any advice how to handle an employee like this? I’ve had other managers roles in fashion retail and did very well but never had an employee like this to deal with, she just seems bosy and controlling.

In the office. tooK 3 Days. found the manager commiting fraud by turning in hundreds of dollars in coupons, and taking cash from the safe.HOW? just looked suspicious when he worked the weekend, no office personnel around , cash pickup on Monday. Found a store sporting goods manaqer discoounting fire arms to his wife. Wow wtf were you thinkis commiting a federal crime and I call in ATF

I disagree with this, if you see a problem, notify Loss prevention, and give them permission to hunt down the problem. They are the professionals, give them the latitude to DO THEIR JOB. They Love their job, let them do it.
