Frank wants his sons to be "manly" but tries to get them there in the stupidest ways possible to where they just don't try at all. And Susan does everything to try and make her kids "successful" in life, but fails. Rodrick on the other hand wants to be a profressional drummer. He's the drummer in a heavy metal band in HIGHSCHOOL, which gives him a high chance of becoming one. He is also very dedicated to playing the drums.
Also, Susan was trying to make Greg look famous at the basketball game, when she's always telling Greg that he shouldn't be full of himself. Hypoctitical...
The only positive thing I'll say is that Greg's mom can be very supportive. Unfortunately she goes about it badly or for the wrong reason most of the time.

In Double Down, the reason she lets those people that patted greg and believed her son stole a lego piece because she likes those people and sides with them than her son because they share her interests and wanted friends that can relate her interests. She cares about her appearance. Glad she ruined Rodrick's talent show and he was unable to get into the music business since he doesn't deserve it and his music is terrible.
