    Tokyo Dome, 55,000 kitsune in attendance each night, two nights in a row, and they didn't repeat any songs, completely different sets each night.
    This song leads into their finale of "THE ONE," a song that started off as a part of this song and was later divided into its own.
    Kitsune dao!

    As someone has already said, the last little bit is the intro to their song The One, which as you know from the interview videos, is what they call the fan base as a whole, and was written specifically for the fans. They actually have two versions of it, with one being completely in English. After ratatata and the guide I would suggest reacting to The One next.

      Not easy? This song 7s a nightmare in multiple Dimension. Therevarevso many things that can and will go wrong. But we also saw this was a song wirh so many changes that there is no chance to rescue you in case of Error. Errors happen but therevis nearly no potential to rescue thevperformance. So it was totally expected that Su was nervous about this song and that they never played it again. You can guess there was war behind the curtain about this song and even Dreamtheater acknowledged this. The fact that they even played this one time was even over a limit. But they knew this before they went on stage with this. They had to play zhis just one Time, while The One (originally only a part of Tales of Destiny) was played multiple times.

      She's great. But the timing is not that hard. Things seem to synch with music even when they aren't really. When you listen to music in the car the blinking lights outside seem to synch with the music.

      @@Dragon-Believer Either you forget, or didn't know, but Su's iem wasn't working properly for this song either. So she had no click-track for this song. She couldn't only go by feel mostly. Also, you say the timing isn't that hard, but were you in the same shoes as her, I'm sure you'd be nervous. Also don't forget, she's still a teen girl, performing in front of 55,000 people, probably mostly adult males. And your performing this song live for the first time on top of all that. Perhaps your right and the timing isn't that big a deal when you think about it logically, but add in all the psychological stuff, and this song becomes a disaster just waiting to happen. But Su and the girls did a great job with it, with Moa, which I noticed for the first time, even being Moa and doing her little faces and having fun during the performance. Was the first time I noticed it because of all the copyright stamps all over the screen, the only part I could really see was the right side of the screen where Moa normally is. This is one of the few songs where I actually normally focus on Su, because I know with this one, she struggles a bit. I always try to find a spot where you can see the struggle. I never have really found it though. She hides it so well!

    Great reaction as always! As you were told before, Tales of Destinies was only presented once in Tokyo dome in 2016. As an extra fact, this show has been the largest in terms of audience, with 100,000 people attending in two nights. And finally the piano that you hear at the end of the song is the beginning of the last song on the album "The one"

    Tales Of The Destinies:-
    A tribute to Legendary progressive rock band "Dream Theatre" from America 🇺🇸. Babymetal only performed this song once which is at the Tokyo Dome in Japan 🇯🇵 to a crowd of 55000 fans over two nights which total of 110000 fans. This song genre is Progressive Metal and different from "Dream Theatre" which focuses more on Rock. That night Su-Metal ear-in monitor malfunction just as the song is about to kick in, Su-Metal has to relied on The Kami Band tempo changes to be able to synchronise with The Kami Band and both Yuimetal & Moametal. Considered Babymetal most technical song and complex composition. As seasoned pros, Babymetal did a superb job that night. Those who love progressive music will definitely appreciate the technical aspects and precision of the Kami Band and Babymetal complicated choreography. The piano melody bridge will lead to the last song The One from their Metal Resistance Album. Progressive Metal at its best. Only done once live at the Tokyo Dome.

    Tales of the Destinies is Babymetal's tribute to the legendary prog metal pioneers Dream Theater, and particularly to the song "Dance of Eternity". Dream Theater are known for their complex compositions with extensive use of time signature variations, key changes, and songs with multiple movements. Dance of Eternity contains 5 key changes and 108 time signature changes over the course of it's six minutes fourteen seconds runtime.
    Taking inspiration from Dream Theater's Dance of Eternity, Tales of the Destinies is easily the most complex and demanding song in Babymetal's entire discography and it remains a miracle they they were able to perform it live at all. They took the many meter and key changes present in Dance of Eternity, and added vocals and choreography to the mix as well. This video is the one and only live performance of this song they have ever done at what is arguably their greatest live show to date, when they played Tokyo Dome for two nights in front of 55,000 fans each night. They only performed this song on the second night to close the show (along with The One). Su-metal's IEMs actually malfunctioned during the performance of this song and she had to sing it just by the band playing behind her. The piano sequence at the end is actually the intro to the following song "The One". Originally, "Tales of the Destinies" and "The One" was a single song, that was later split into two songs.
    Dream Theater founder Mike Portnoy's son showed him this song, and Mike gave it the prog metal seal of approval, which I'm sure would have pleased Kobametal as he is a massive Dream Theater fan and he worked on the song for years to get it right.
    Since you only got the Portuguese subs, here is an English translation of the lyrics:
    We have no luck! We are unlucky!
    Our answer is always...
    We can't help it! It can't be helped!
    "not", "not", "not", "not"!
    That is not it! This is not it!
    Where is the answer?
    Nowhere! Nowhere! Nowhere! Nowhere!
    Nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere, nowhere!
    Don't worry, don't worry! Now we're going to reborn.
    Let's begin the countdown!
    Set me free!
    [Three, two, one, three, two, one, zero?]
    [Three, two, one, three, two, one, zero?]
    It never stops [it never stops]. It never ends [it never ends].
    It's an unlimited melody [melody].
    We [we] never look back,
    Now and Forever.
    It is our eternal memory.
    THE ONE will be with you.
    We are The Destinies.
    Isn't it useless? It's not useless!
    No, no, no, no!
    Isn't it impossible? It's not impossible!
    Isn't it a dream? It's not a dream!
    No, no, no, no!
    Isn't it now? It's not now!
    Can't stop me, can't stop me now. Now it starts.
    Let's aim at the big chance!
    Get ready!
    [Three, two, one, three, two, one, zero?]
    [Three, two, one, three, two, one, zero?]
    It never stops [it never stops]. It never ends [it never ends].
    It's an endless journey [journey].
    We [we] are not alone,
    Now and Forever.
    It is our destiny.
    THE ONE will be with you.
    We are The Destinies.

    This was the Metal Resistance (second album)era. A two day concert where they played every song from both their albums (at the time) in their entirety. One day you should watch this entire concert event. It's on Blu-ray. Three runway stages shaped like coffins with a dual level rotating center stage. One at floor level, and one above the entire stage and sitting atop the lighting and video screen., which they kept hidden behind lights until they revealed themselves. It's a must watch.

    Very cool!!!
    This show was "Red Night" (it's common for Babymetal to do two big shows in a row, in the same place, usually Red Night and Black Night - the shows have setlists put together differently). This only live version of "Tales of the Destinies" was the penultimate song of the night, the piano at the end does not end the song, but rather starts the next one, which ended the night, "The One".
    Tonight's opening was with "Road of Resistance" in a really epic version, I honestly can't decide if I more like this e or the version 2015, which is the official video. Unfortunately, I didn't find this version on TH-cam.
    The following night, "Black Night" started with "Death", I believe it was the first time that the three girls appeared in crosses on stage. I also couldn't find this version on TH-cam. Black Nigth ended with "Ijime, Dame Zettai" and it's one of the most epic versions of that song. These two shows were "sold out", with an audience of 55 thousand people each night.
    If you can, try to view these versions (maybe it's worth reacting to them!).
    Enjoy Babymetal!!!

    We are the destinies!!!
    Tales of the Destinies (TOTD for short) is definitely their most intricate song.
    During that show, the girls have said that they were nervous the entire show just because of that song. Because it is the 1st time they performing it, and it's very intricate. That song was the 2nd last song of the 1st night at Tokyo Dome. They were relieved after performing the song, and somewhat felt more comfortable for the second night.
    Though it is rare, Kami Band do get some spotlight moments, depending on the song. They have what we call 'Kami Intro' for some songs, where they do little flexing for the start of the song. It's actually more rare now compared to before but, it is understandable why they do that.
    I guess next I would suggest;
    Babymetal - "Catch Me If You Can" Live at Budokan 2014.

    This mans like 30 seconds in "like a third tempo" my brother by that point it had changed over 10. The number of signature changes just in the first 20 seconds is nuts. I am a seasoned guitarist, and this is one of the few BM songs I have never really been able to get down. The solo section is absolutely mental. There are changes within MEASURES during that fast legato/arpeggio section. Weird ones too. Mikio was a unit. Always smiling (hes the same guy you pointed out with the goofy grin) but his hands... those were all serious business.
    The fact they performed it the single time, without any obvious mistakes (its practically note for note accurate to the studio track) and smashed it overall, is a testament to just how skilled every person on that stage truly is. Instrumentalists, to vocalists, to dancers. They had one shot, and stuck the landing.

      "They had one shot, and stuck the landing." - So the Neil Armstrong bit at the start seems to fit in with that sentiment.

    ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🌟 🌟 🌟
    Pulling this song off live at Tokyo Dome with only two guitarists still blows my mind.
    A few changes, but it still sounds a lot like the studio track.
    I grew up with early Pink Floyd, King Crimson, ELP and experimental electronic music.
    So I was very ready for this one when the 'Metal Resistance album dropped in 2016.
    Dream Theater's 'Images and Words' is one of BABYMETAL producer Koba's favorite albums.
    Here's what he said about the development of 'Tales of the Destinies':
    "Upon opening the World map of Metal music, this song as well really made me stop and consider how are we going to deal with the genre of Progressive Metal represented by such bands that I love such much like Dream Theater.
    It took about 2 or 3 years to put it into the form that it is in now.
    As you can imagine, there were a multitude of hardships to overcome to do so.
    That goes for the performance side of it as well and we had to put it through countless, repeated changes to its arrangement to finally get it where it is now.".
    Both the girls and the Kami Band did an amazing job especially considering the complexity this song has."
    A link to this song was sent to Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy.
    His Twitter response: "Actually LOVE the new @Korn… and am BLOWN away by what you've played me of @BABYMETAL_JAPAN!
    "Tales of the Destinies" is full-on PROG METAL".
    I love the little ragtime jig that Yui and Moa do in the middle of the song.
    Along with MIKIKO, their choreographer, they rehearsed a few different versions of the choreography for 'Tales of the Destinies'.
    In a recent interview, Moa said that she can't even remember which version they ended up performing live.

    7:30, hey Shade, I'm not a musician or instrumentalist, but I just found some thought I'd like to share about the subject of BABYMETAL not showcasing the guitar solos sometimes, these are not my words that I'm going to say rn, but actually from a musician which I think brings to the light an overlooked aspect of Metal bands that can end up being toxic or rather like something that steals some values of a band, the name of the dude is Syu or Shusuke Ueda, he is officially considered the best guitarist in the world, voted as the best 3 or 4 times in a row, he is from the Power Metal band; GALNERYUS, he mentions that while being a guitarist holds extreme significance in the genre and as every musician wants to take the spotlight and naturally stand out most of the times the overobsession with guitarists end up making the fans or other people to miss the point of a band or "steal" the value of other performers, such as the keyboardist, bassist, but mainly the singer, which is something particularly happening only in the Metal genre where unfortunately male and female singers start to be abandoned by the eyes of the audience who worship guitar solos, Syu believes that a guitar solo is part of the soul of Metal genre, but if it steals the glance over other performers or especially the singer in a bad light, it becomes a dark side of the genre. Syu also believes that meanwhile the guitarist wants the attention of the audience the singer is the most important piece that ties the band together to convey the message of the song and it's the singer who should absolutely never be overlooked and always in the spotlight, a singer who is clear and can "talk" with the audience trough voice, a organic instrument he considers unfortunately not recognised as it should be by Metal fans, because different from an artificial instrument the voice is an unique kind of organic instrument that holds the same power and significance as a guitar or any other instrument being the core of the song. Not saying that you're overlooking the vocals or anything, I just thought about sharing this because it's something that is not really discussed about how musicians are actually more happy just playing what they love rather than getting traction of the camera and its attention, and that's why I think when I see some comments from certain older Kitsune fans not happy about BABYMETAL not showcasing the Kami Band as much as a traditional band is actually a nice sign imo, because it gives the performers and audience a sense of discipline and freedom that is followed by that band as a team, where they know their moments and their spotlight is as if they are like a single entity where there's not a measure of comparison for who should be the star, because they all shine together.
    Also, I think GALNERYUS is a band that maybe you'd like to explore, their music is amazing and their singer is a legend, I'd say just as of a nice presence and singer as SU, I consider him her male counterpart lol.

    Love this one! Koba is a fan of Dream Theater, my favorite band in history. This was written as a direct tribute, even has a similar ragtime piano solo in the middle like in several Dream Theater songs. .. along with the most virtuoso style solos and drumming ever! I heard they only played it live once because, dancing in 16/8 is difficult, who woulda thought 😂
    The gold outfits were only worn for this show, and I really love them!
    Oh! Cliffs of Dover! My wife and I got to see Eric here in Austin a few years ago. My favorite moment involving him was when G3 came through .. it was Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and John Petrucci.
    For the encore, some rando came on stage.. some local named Eric 😂 haha it was the most epic time!!

      @@icarushedoban3536 It can also be translated in many ways, SU is just so thoughtful, she says some things since early on that are very significant yet sadly overlooked. When it comes to many things, even music you don't need to see as to overanalyse which can make you miss the point of what you're seeing or want to see, but listen, so that you can feel the music as intended, she isn't saying for you to turn off your brain, but to have an open mind, rather than having a shallow mindset.

    The final piano part directly connects to The One, the last song of the show. Both were supposed to be one song, but it got too long and they split it up.
    I have all the shows saved here on my HD, especially the one from Tokyo Dome. If there's any way I can send them to you, just let me know.

    Nice reaction. A tuff one for sure. When they did their ten years of Babymetal shows at the Budokan. They talked about this song. And of course, everyone really hoped they would do it. But it didn't happen. As good as that was. Su's in ears went out for the start of the song. That's Su singing the old fashion way. No help at all. Because of this Su said she would love to have another try at this song. Su is a bit of a perfectionist and if she feels it ain't right she's never going to be happy with it. It was during one of their shows at the Budokan Yui fell of the stage. Moa twisted an ankle. Well, let's just say they didn't have the fondest memories of the place. That was until the 10 shows at the Budokan for their 10th year anniversary. Daring to do 10 shows. You know something had to go wrong. Well, almost. Momo almost stepped backward off the stage. Luckly, there were folks to stop her from falling. One of the Kami guitarist, Su ran over. Moa was too far to help by the time she got there Momoko had already recovered. I'm sure Su had a heart attack inside. On stage they laughed it off. The show must go on is something that is instilled in Babymetal along with give the best show you can because these folks paid good money to see you. Which is why they give 100000%. They literally had to have a meeting about it. The would be exhausted at the end of the shows. How to save some for the rest of the tour. Enjoy the journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music. Kitsune UP 🦊🦊🦊

    Who the hell~ walks into BUDOKAN at age 14(YUI and MOA) (SU-METAL was 16) and changes history? In March 2014, Babymetal performed in front of 20,000 people at the legendary Budokan venue - setting a record for being the youngest female fronted band to ever sell out Nippon Budokan on two consecutive nights. If you've played the LEGENDARY BUDOKAN, you have made it. If you've played a sold-out TOKYO DOME 55,000 SEAT STADIUM two nights in a row ( SEPT 19-20 2016 ) - - you are immortal!
    Metal Hammer has decided to share a review of the shows TOKYO DOME red night & black night both shows sold out and 55,000 fans at each show.
    Four years on, these shows are still the most bonkers anywhere on the planet - this is Babymetal at the very height of their delirious powers.”

  • @egodreas
    @egodreas 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    Completely agree that they should be focusing on the musicians for their solos. It's actually one of my main annoyances with how Babymetal has developed. They used to feature the Kami Band more prominently. But around the time Yui left and Mikio died, Koba started relegating the band to the background and eventually put masks on them as well. I assume this was to make it less obvious for the casual fans that the Eastern Kami Band was being gradually replaced with the Western Kami Band (with American musicians). There are still occasional solos, as the girls need a short break now and then, but the masks seem to be here to stay, and the Kamis are not encouraged to engage with the audience the way they once did.
    To see it done right, you need to watch _Rondo of Nightmare_ and _Akatsuki_ (and eventually _Catch Me If You Can, Yava_ and _Awadama Fever,_ which also have versions with great Kami intros)

    • @jimnusbaum3589
      @jimnusbaum3589 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      Watch the recent shows and live performance. The Kamis are much more evident in Legend MM and Legend 43 and they get a couple of solo intros and do interact with the audience more than in the past. That said not having the camera focus on Mikio during his solo in this song is a crime.

    • @autohmae
      @autohmae 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

      I see this complaint a bunch, very understandable. But sometimes some facts are missing, the Japanese Kami band also didn't get as much attention in the early days and it went up over time. The western guys are getting more attention too over time. Still not a fan of the masks. The ladies now need less breaks, so we have less solos.

    • @Ryujin170
      @Ryujin170 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Three of them wore masks in their previous band, Galactic Empire. I can't say for sure, but a reasonable assumption is the masks are their idea because they were more comfortable. I read someone say that it's not the same without the kamis pulling faces and sticking their tongues out, but I'm glad the West Kamis aren't doing impersonations of the previous kamis, just like Momo isnt trying to be Yui. Even if they didn't wear masks, they would probably still be criticised for trying to be the old Kamis, I expect.
      If there's going to be a change in dynamics with the Kamis, it's going to be during the next album phase.

    • @egodreas
      @egodreas 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @Ryujin170 That's a very good observation! If the masks are the musicians own idea, I guess that would excuse it. I still think it's a bad idea, but at least not Koba's fault :-)

    • @Ryujin170
      @Ryujin170 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@egodreas Yeah, it's not helped by Koba not explaining things properly himself, like the Metalverse, lol. Maybe part of the reason they wore masks was because of the huge pressure of trying to follow the most elite band in the world. Not performing as much might have let them concentrate fully on playing. If the west Kamis ever do unmask it will probably be because they feel confident enough to do it. I'm sure they are well aware of what most people think of the masks.

  • @bury0777
    @bury0777 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    The song was created as a homage to Dream Theather which Kobametal is a big fan of. This live performance was a special treat for a special show. It was in Tokyo Dome, a baseball stadium which is the biggest venue in Japan with 55k capacity, they've performed only once there, two nights with different setlists, as usual for their big shows in Japan.
    The resons to not perform it again were two:
    1) Both the girls and the musicians didn't enjoy the experience, as they were struggling to keep it tight and were stressed out it'll fall appart, especially Su who lost her click track in ear monitor half way through.
    2) They've crossed a progressive BM song achievement off the list, but I think they felt it didn't fit the vibe they were going for the life shows.
    In relation to what you've said about focusing on the girls during shredding parts, I think it'd be better and easier to perform, if the girls just ducked low after the piano dance and waited out instrumental part, while the spotlights would highlight musicians. The choreography during instrumental parts was boring and repetitive anyway. I like choreo when they were singing, especially the chorus.

  • @robote7679
    @robote7679 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    People say you can't dance to prog metal. How about do a choreographed routine while singing in front of thousands and thousands of people. If there was ever one piece of evidence for the haters to prove that Babymetal was/is not a gimmick it is TotD. A gimmick band does not do a song like this! Glad you enjoyed it. I'd still recommend keeping on your personal and/or reaction playlist Arkadia, Legend MM live 2024 (link follows) while no as crazy technical as TotD it is still pretty willd.
    Oh the little ragtime piano part in this was a bit of an homage to Jordan Rudess, keypoardist for Dream Theater. He's a classically trained pianist and has been know to throw little seemingly incongruous piano parts like that into his own pieces. And Koba loves Dream Theater.

    It's a mystery as to why they only ever played this live once. Some have speculated that it's because the song is very complicated to pull off live, and demands too much prep and rehearsal. Others have said it's because the kami's today aren't skilled enough to play it properly. I have know idea. all I know is that it's a crime that this masterpiece has only been played live once. The bigger mystery is "Up Down Left RIght BBAB." WHich is the ONLY song never to be played live. I guess they don't like that song.

The combination of those two on guitars in the Kami Band will most probably not be matched by any other duo, even Leda and Takayoshi together doesn't sound that good together.
