Only one thats old and near the final can understand this song in its real meaning Im 65 yo and lived well Only for a short period that, the only woman that i loved, mother of my children betrayed me I suffered a lot This is really a great bunch of words and music
Only someone that has lived and made mistakes in their life can really understand that we need to forgive and forget as our life is so short in the end. In one or two generations we will be forgotten.
DAMN!!!!!!!! I have to say, been listening to "the Ghost" for a good while. I feel bad for saying that he is actually better to me than "ol Cash. It started with J.C. though. I give credit where credit is due. I also listened to N.I.N. version when it came out......loved it. I am a very strange anomaly of hair-band hard rocker, old-school country, Elvis, Sinatra and 90's Lithium/Alternative/Grunge. It's because of what I grew up with and what I listened to when I was younger, in rebellion. I also like some folk music and "backwoods" music. This dude right here, David Radcliffe, is the real deal, and evokes some deep feelings! Thank you sir, for your songs and exquisite voice that God gave you! thank you for sharing!
I've listened to Reznor's original and Cash's version hundreds of times. Thought i was numb to the lyrics. Nope. Never thought it possible that anyone could own a song that Cash did. Congratulations, you have proven me wrong.
Artists are warriors of peace and love. They unite the world. I went to the Johnny Cash museum in Nashville Tennessee, and on my way out it felt like the man’s life had just unfolded before me in less than 2 hours. R.I.P. Johnny Cash! I hope you get your reward “when the man comes around.”
I've been listening to Johnny Cash for 50 years. Part of my life. I spoke to Michael Ronstadt a few times, He knew Johnny. Fantastic. Spoke about real people and real problems.
"If I could start again, a million miles away, I would keep myself; I would find a way." Here's to reconciliation, my beloved. My God, what an amazing rendition of such an amazing song! Thanks so much.
I had no interest of country music because of urbananation when I heard Cash it changes my Outlook well thanks for writing and sing this song whoever wrote this I very thankful, thanks 🗻✝️🇺🇲Johnny Cash, and N.I.N.
I have been a NIN fan since the beginning. Hurt is one of their best. When Johnny did it and put a whole new context to it, it blew my mind. As Trent Reznor said, it wasn't his song anymore! Your tribute is equally mind blowing!! You have such a wonderful voice and you give this song, Johnny's interpretation, the respect it deserves. Thank you so incredibly much. You are a true artist. Peace and Love from Australia
I hurt myself today To see if I still feel I focus on the pain The only thing that's real The needle tears a hole The old familiar sting Try to kill it all away But I remember everything What have I become? My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I wear this crown of thorns Upon my liar's chair Full of broken thoughts I cannot repair Beneath the stains of time The feelings disappear You are someone else I'm still right here What have I become? My sweetest friend Everyone I know goes away In the end And you could have it all My empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt If I could start again A million miles away I would keep myself I would find a way
Caro fratello, solo chi ha vissuto ed ha i capelli d'argento..... può emozionarsi a sentire questo brano . però abbiamo vissuto, comunque....e con i nostri sbagli... abbiamo vissuto.Sorriso e pianto.Le nostre rughe.....sono le nostre medaglie.Questo era Cash.
Oh my - this is BEAUTIFUL. This is officially my favorite version of this song; I only (slightly!!) Favor this over Johnny's because you sound like a younger Johnny here. This sounds like a song that he should have/could have made in the he 70s or 80s, however, I'm glad he made/covered this when he did. All that out of the way....LOL... David, you encapsulate the struggle, yet the talent and Esoteric intrigue of Johnny Cash; you truly embody his Spirit and Sound, yet you have your own 'Dark Country/Outlaw Country' embodiment as well. There is something truly unique going on in your music; you sure sound like Johnny Cash with your own slightly darker, bolder, deeper twist (which I love in men's voices 😊 ). You have your own Mystique. I love your voice and musical talent, as does my 85 year-old father; and I only share music with him that I'm sure he'll love! You inspire so many. Thank you 😊
Now that's a nice and sincere comment that shows you know how to express your inner feelings towards someone who has inside of him that Cash voice that millions the world over admire. Two thumbs up for your comment.
This is crazy. You bring out something so powerful and almost metaphysical. I don't know if it's sacrilege, but partly, I find it deeper than the original. The pain. The pain basically. Bless you brother.
When I read about that story; about Cash doing that song, and Trent Reznor's reaction to hearing a legend sinh his lyrics - it all comes back full circle. It's so powerful, even Trent himself couldn't believe it, and felt honored. This; all of this: from One Man's Depression, to Poetry, to Music: to another Man's Depression, and His Music: and to many, many other artists of so many kinds whom this may inspire: There IS Purpose in this life. Even if we don't see it at the Time; look at the chain of Connection that this Art, and many more forms, have been Inspired, and continue to be. 💙

Pain doesn't do the soul any good it just bring more the misery and self doubt. And some pain is to great for one soul to live in.

Sad sa
Sad sam.hi.camilla.help sir
that's a song written and performed after a lifetime of struggle. No child could do that.
Trent Reznor was 35 when he wrote it.
@@johncasperwayne Amazing!
You can feel John's ghost around this region of Tennessee. You feel his fans when they pass you in the grocery store. You can see it in they're eyes.
You could have it all, just to be able to sing like this. A Gift from The Lord.🙏
Jhonny cash is just a legend ✨

I like both versions. While I’m a bit more of a Cash fan. Both singers convey a sorrow, a sadness, and pain, but for different reasons.
I listned 200 time Cash version, and after i concluded is just a cover. NIN version is original. A mercedes can never me replicate.
What a voice and what a cover! Wouah!
I am 17 I understand the song and love all old songs ❤
I love this song Johnny Cash legend ❤️🎸🎶🤠❤️
Sad and dark...Johnny Cash seems to have been a very tormented soul...RIP
God Bless You, Brother. Semper Fi
The greatest singer of the world
Man that's a great cover! Sounds great!
Wow... i don't know what you did here but i like it!
Great pictures of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga…
Amazing cover by Johnny and now you. Thank you.
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I'm still right here
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

It’s a band called the Ghost of Johnny Cash like the title of the short

My pain wasnt a needle but a can or bottle. This song is real.
Do you mean that you masked your pain with a needle or bottle?

A cover of Cash doing a cover of Nine Inch Nails. Interesting choice.
Looking forward to more covers.
