My Nissan Altima 2013 SV 2.5 airbag light on the instrument cluster came on this past Friday. When I notice that I pulled to the side of the road shut the car off and the light went off. When I started the vehicle back up after 4 hours it being park the airbag light came back on and it was just a solid light.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra SR. I have owned it for two years on August 13th 2014 and it hasn't had any issues since Day One... Until now. The airbag light is flashing and I am scared to put it into diagnostic mode, in case I can get it out of it. Nothing has changed inside of the car and the only real thing I can think of that I did differently was turn the steering wheel to the left harder than normal(All the way to the left). Any ideas?
Mark Everson It could be a number of things unless you have a scan tool or place the vehicle into diagnostic mode. If you're worried about tooling with it just bring it to a good mechanic. Ask your family and/or friends if they have a good mechanic. If you're lucky they may check the code for you w/o charge. Good luck!
CarsNToys I actually put it in diagnostic mode and the light went off which means that it was just a glitch or hiccup right? Now when I turn my car on it doesn't flash anymore.
Mark Everson That's awesome. Glad it worked out. Just keep an eye on it. The Sentra in the video (a 2008 model) did the exact same thing for months; then one day I got an error code for the rear side curtain airbags. Turned out there was a recall from Nissan. So if it happens again and you do get an error code just search if there is a recall for your vehicle. Cheers.

joe hays Looks like the airbag diagnosis unit. I downloaded the manual you mentioned, and it was a great deal of help. Hopefully this can be proved that it was the fault of the accident, because it was not on prior.

Hi, I got a instrument cluster for my 07 Nissan Sentra 2.0 from a salvage yard. When I plugged it in the airbag light was flashing and the ads, brake, ps light were on and the light wasn't working on gauge. Is there anything I can do to turn them off/fix them? I got another cluster because my fuel gauge keeps showing inaccurate fuel readings and that's after I replaced my fuel pump like 3x's. I just came across an article stating that many people are/have experienced this same problem with their fuel gauge/pump. It's a faulty resistor in the fuel pump.

I was trying to check the pattern on the video but I didn't see a match. So it turns on for 7 seconds, off, then continues to blink every 1-1.5 second continuously, no delays or gaps in the blinks. I resetted and was able to turn off the flashing because it was annoying but now I'm curious if there was really something wrong w it. Hope you still have the troubleshooter :)
I'm afraid that isn't enough info. After blinking every 1.5 secs it should stop and then provide 3 or 4 fast flashes. Nonetheless, I remember reading there was a recall for the side airbags. The NHTSA has a site where you can search - www.nhtsa.gov/recalls
By coincidence I have exactly the 2008 Nissan Sentra 2.0 S, and I have been having this airbag blinking light problem for some time. I took it to my repair shop, and they replaced the seatbelt tensioner under warranty, which was great! Of course, three days later, the light was flashing again. Now of course I'm looking at over $800 to replace the airbag control unit, not under warranty this time. I generally trust the dealership shop, but I just want to make sure we're not hitting this with overkill when it could just be a faulty wire due to the repeated adjusting of the tensioner. They're just following the standard repair procedure on this, but I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on the matter! Also, thanks so much for this video on accessing the diagnostic codes. That's a little trick I didn't know that should come in handy in the future!
Aaron Bilawchuk Unfortunately, airbag components are extremely expensive. You can try getting an estimate from another shop and maybe save some cash. Some people will also buy a used part from a donor vehicle. Completely up to you but maybe that can save you some cash. I'd go for the option with the best warranty.

Guanhui Cheng You have to get the vehicle into diagnostic mode. In order to get into diagnostic mode, just follow the steps I show in this video. (Starts at 2:30 in video)

Mine came on after having my shifter assembly replaced on my 08 Sentra, did this trick, went away, but a month later came back. I've retried and the flashing comes back after 5-10 min, and the blinking sequence doesn't match up to any on your diagram. I called the shop who did the work and he said it might not be related to the work he did as he didnt disable it, weird coincidence though it came on a few minutes after I picked up the car. What do you suggest? Dealer said $150 just for diagnostic, that's crazy!

I have an 08 Infiniti M35 and the SRS warning light has come on. I reset it but it came back on in 3 days. I reset a second time and again it came on in a few days. My mechanic pulled the error code and it is the occupancy seat sensor. I've checked and this is an expensive repair. I have seen aftermarket bypass circuits for BMW and Mercedes that trick the airbag system to think there is always an adult sitting in the passenger seat and keeps the passenger airbag on all of the time. Peter Arnold Sure. That's the driver air bag module. (The air bag in the steering wheel.) It could be the module itself, the spiral cable or the air bag diagnosis sensor.
Hey, I have an 07 sentra, never been in any sort of accident but the airbag light is flashing. I did your diagnostic video and I got a pause then 4 flashes, what does that mean? Is there a way I can try and fix it with a harness clip check or wd40, I'm a college student and I know airbag fixes aren't cheap. Great video btw.
Hi Emily. Four flashes indicates a problem with the left-hand side air bag satellite sensor. I'm afraid you'll need to have your car checked out by the dealer or a pro that's able to read and repair airbag codes.

Some people will also buy a used part from a donor vehicle. Completely up to you but maybe that can save you some cash. I'd go for the option with the best warranty.

Guanhui Cheng You have to get the vehicle into diagnostic mode. In order to get into diagnostic mode, just follow the steps I show in this video. (Starts at 2:30 in video)

Hi, my Sentra SR '11 cruise control lights come on while driving without being engaged, all the controls buttons on the steering wheel (cruise control, Bluetooth, volume up down) won't work only the horn works.

I went through the pattern of the key on and then the airbag light comes on and then goes off and turn the key off I did that six times in my airbag light stayed off I guess thanks
Mine came on after having my shifter assembly replaced on my 08 Sentra, did this trick, went away, but a month later came back. I've retried and the flashing comes back after 5-10 min, and the blinking sequence doesn't match up to any on your diagram. I called the shop who did the work and he said it might not be related to the work he did as he didnt disable it, weird coincidence though it came on a few minutes after I picked up the car. What do you suggest? Dealer said $150 just for diagnostic, that's crazy!

I have an 08 Infiniti M35 and the SRS warning light has come on. I reset it but it came back on in 3 days. I reset a second time and again it came on in a few days.
My mechanic pulled the error code and it is the occupancy seat sensor. I've checked and this is an expensive repair. I have seen aftermarket bypass circuits for BMW and Mercedes that trick the airbag system to think there is always an adult sitting in the passenger seat and keeps the passenger airbag on all of the time.
Do you know where I could find one of these bypass circuits for my car?

Peter Arnold Sure. That's the driver air bag module. (The air bag in the steering wheel.) It could be the module itself, the spiral cable or the air bag diagnosis sensor.

Hey, I have an 07 sentra, never been in any sort of accident but the airbag light is flashing. I did your diagnostic video and I got a pause then 4 flashes, what does that mean? Hi Emily. Four flashes indicates a problem with the left-hand side air bag satellite sensor. I'm afraid you'll need to have your car checked out by the dealer or a pro that's able to read and repair airbag codes.
