I think you did an amazingly awesome job! I think you should take as many breaks as you need when you are riding your bike. Pay attention to the rhythm of the bike and to the sound of the bike. It's just my opinion you should ride your bike everyday, even to places you would not normally ride. Keep up the good work, stay safe, and before you know it you won't believe how much you are enjoying the ride.
When turning or riding slow in the lots you should try it in 2nd gear. Will help with the jerkiness. And don’t be nervous about the cop, he’s probably jelly that you are out riding and he’s not
2:00 NEVER stop directly behind a car at a traffic light. Either left or right of the car, just in case someone behind you isn’t paying attention, you aren’t squashed between two cars.
Try not to stop directly behind vehicles as it is a lot harder for people to see you from the car ahead. Pull more the left or right side so you can stay in view of their side mirrors. Plus, should something happen from behind and as long as you stay in gear, you will have greater success to escape the area and stay safe. Enjoy your riding. I plan to possibly get a Grom here pretty soon.
Take it from someone who's been daily riding for 3 years, you did a great job! Especially with taking breaks! It looks like you got the basics of shifting down and now its all about experimenting and practice. I still get it wrong from time to time 😆. Eventually your brain figures out what works best and then it becomes muscle memory. Keep at it, study study study and ride safe! You totally got this👍
When I got the grom new I was nervous enough to snap the clutch pulling into traffic for the first time lol but I put 800 miles on it before paying the first note. Everyone saying to blip the throttle downshifting, that's called rev matching. That's great and all but I probably wouldn't worry about it at first. Normal down shifting is fine until you have basic shifting down pat. Then maybe try to add rev matching sometimes later on.
Let that clutch out slower and blip the throttle on downshifts. Once you get used to it flow it all together in one motion and you'll be a lot smoother.
Great job! I used to live around there. Colonial is a fast street! I’d be freaked out too. I just got my bike last week, it’s nice to see someone else beginning like me.
@@BriannahJeffries I got an F850GS! I had saved up for a while and I wanted an on road off road bike! And got a great deal on it! It’s tall too so I can see over traffic a lot of the time :)
I think you did awesome. I'm on the same journey. Like others just got a 24 grom non abs. White n black. I'm turning 36 never rode a motorcycle or dirt bike either. I've put 585 miles did my first oil change today. Been loving it. It'll be my daily commute whenever the wisconsin weather cooperates. Good luck dear and ride safe.
You’re doing great. Focus on what you’ve practiced and less on telling yourself you’re nervous. Positive affirmations only. Speak on what is going well.
I notice on my xt250 when i blip the throttle when downshifting, that tends to work a lot smoother than just downshifting. At one time, i was making a turn but traveling at least 30mph. I downshifted without blipping the throttle, and for some reason my rear wheel slid, like it wanted to fish tail. At that point, i realized that blipping the throttle while downshifting works significantly better than just downshifting. Well, thats what it is for me on my xt250 at least or maybe i am just a total newb still. Only been riding for 2 years now. Anyways, ride safe. Have a bless journey on your moto and thanks for sharing!
When taking turns, don’t look down. They say if you look down, you will go down. The bike will generally go where you put your eyeballs. When taking turns… remember… revs up, eyes up, don’t touch the front brake. Look into the turn, the bike will do what your eyes tell it to.
Be careful out there. Ride like you are invisible. Attend the MSF courses called BRC and ARC… ASAP! No amount of people’s input can replace the benefit and value obtained from attending instruction from actual MSF instructors. Trust me… it is absolutely worth it. I have been riding for 17 years. I too ride a Grom these days, and I also have an adventure bike. The Grom is super fun, you can whip that thing around town. Most dumbass people in cars have no clue what you are riding though, they will assume that it is a regular bike, and dumbass people in cars will jump behind you because they all expect a bike to haul ass, they will even tailgate, because they are stupid. Try to stay relaxed. If anyone gets too close behind you, move yourself directly into their field of vision in the left side of the lane. Dumbass people who drive cars have this need to see what is in front of the car ahead of them. You can always wave them around you too, I do that a lot because people who drive cars are… yep… dumbasses. Assume that everyone you see is going to pull out in front of you. Ride defensively. Stay safe, and take an MSF course… ASAP!
Lol I appreciate the information. I did take the course, but it was only 2 days here in Florida. Im just learning as I go 😌 but I appreciate the feedback!
Recommend you ride in the left part of lane. Not the right or middle. Did you take a safety course? Maybe practice on side roads until you get your shifting down.

Nice to see another woman new to a Grom! I just got one three weeks ago and downshifting had me too. It’s so much fun!
Awesome good job! 👏

Way to go! You got this! Congrats.
Nice job! And you’re out in 5 o’clock traffic. Better than me when I started..
Awesome time! I ride mine easily over 75+mile trips through SoCal! Enjoy the ride & stay safe

Can you do a video on how to ride with a passenger? Would love to take my Husband for a ride this spring.
Great job! 👍🏽
Great job
Excellent!
Shift sooner to prevent jerking it should be smooth when shifting tension and lube chain 👍👍
You look like you're doing a really good job for a beginner. Good job!
I have a Grom (UK). When riding 25 mph and over, it will pull in 5th gear and accelerate. No need to ride along in 3rd and 4th.
What camera you use and how do you record your voice inside of the helmet?

Learn how to feather the clutch and manipulate the friction zone. I’ll quit bugging you… but go take the BRC course at least ASAP, you will be amazed!
You could use higher gears to make the bike rev less high. Other than that you did a great job.
Sub #600. Very nicely done. 🤙
Thanks for the sub!

New subscriber here wya it’s been 3weeks 😊
