on the termite indicator, in the tube under those balls is a stick of wood. the idea is that the balls are held up by this stick, and normally when termites are not present make the green color visible in the small window, but if you have termites they will eat that stick of wood causing the balls to fall down the tube and you will no longer see the bright green ball in the window. indicating you have termites

43:13 There are absolutely decorative metal cases/jackets for matchboxes. They’re not that common anymore, but I think there was one floating around my house as a kid.
Yep, my grandma has a porcelain matchbox with a hinged top that has a painted design. She keeps it on a table to use for shabbat candles (she's orthodox Jewish). It perfectly fits an average sized matchbox inside.
Yep those existed, but they went out of use due to the safety match. Old western style matches could be ignited on any rough surface like boots. Or denim so people regularly set their pants on fire. This led to the invention of the safety match which needs the strip on the matchbox side.
1:21:23 I mean, illegal bars and similar establishments were called "speakeasies" because the operators needed a way to verify someone wasn't a party-pooper before letting them in. Besides, before central air and heating were widespread, opening your door just to talk to someone would let in inclement heat or cold. I love Robin as a narrator, really. Just, sometimes, it feels like he thinks the world is only as old as he is. Then again, he seems a lot less curious-natured than Jack or Lexi, and he does make a point about not getting hung up on non-affecting things.
52:30 Having your house buried helps A LOT. My grandmother’s house was similar to this and while she had an air conditioner and heating, it was almost never turned on and like 68 degrees year round in the northern Midwest. And to expand on “ground is good insulation”, there are some companies that have warehouses in caves in Missouri and Tennessee (probably other places too) because they’re naturally temperature controlled. When I was a OTR truck driver I’ve had to go to Missouri’s quite a few times and it’s kind of surreal to drive a truck through a cave system.

1:28:52 Yup. I work in an injection molding plant. Each part made comes from a cavity in the mold. So, they have cavity numbers. If I find flash (excess material) or a short (missing material), I can tell my supervisor I found it on cavity 8 or something. Saves us the trouble of having to figure out which mold section it came from. They can adjust how much material is going into the cavity, or identify if the mold is broken/not seated properly and is allowing material to squeeze out the sides. And then our job goes from nonchalantly dumping handfuls parts into boxes, and goes to miserably sitting at a brightly lit table having to inspect each part individually to figure out when the issue started, and if it'll continue after whatever fix that was done. Usually for the rest of the order over multiple shifts. I got to do that today. Oh joy.
13:00 -- Those purple lights would very unlikely be from grow lights; mainly because grow rooms are typically dark rooms without any windows, so you can precisely control the plant's day/night cycle. They have to have a certain amount of pitch black time to control different stages of their growth. I used to grow indoor "medical" (i..e legal) marijuana. You also wouldn't want the neighborhood to know there's a grow room in your building, making you a prime target for theft. I grew all my batches of plants in separate tents with reflective aluminum siding on the inside -- so you could barely tell the grow lights were turned on when you were inside the room.
9:07 Nebraska. I only know that because that state was just added to American Truck Simulator and I'm participating in the Cruising Nebraska event. 1:23:41 Oh yeah! Bite the end off, sprinkle a tiny bit in the flashpan and close it, pour the rest into the barrel and pack the cartridge down like a regular musket ball).
4:35 Since it's on their side of the fence you can't touch it, and reporting it to the cops can get messy since you still have to live next to your neighbors. Re: 52:25, I live in a split level house and my first floor is half underground (about four feet), the eye level windows on the first floor are at ground level outside. Being partly underground does actually help a lot with temperature control, as the first floor stays relatively cool in the summer (never goes over 79F even without any A/C during weeks with 85--95 temps), and relatively warm in the winter (never goes below 58ish with the heat off even during months of -10--10 temps), while my second floor in the same situations would reach much more extreme temperatures
32:55 ND means Negligent Discharge. Your weapon system should already be cleared prior to reaching the barrel, however if you squeeze the trigger and discharge into the barrel, that means you put the weapon into battery, did not look into the ejection port, where you would have seen a live round, and proceeded to discharge anyway. The purpose of the clearing barrel is to avoid damage from discharge because of human error. I.E. failing to observe the port, or placing the weapon into battery with the trigger engaged. Negligent discharge is when someone's just a dumbass, and their life is about to get a lot more difficult because of it. If you have a negligent discharge in the military your about to have the worst time of your life.
46:02 it's called a tire lever it usually used to remove the tread off of mtb(mountain bike) wheels to either replace the inner tube or to add/remove the tire sealant in tubless tires
100:25 - The proper name for that is a 'flower frog'. It IS used for putting flower arrangements in, probably short roses for that particular frog, as it's so shallow.
March 17, 2024 - Stainless steel soap is a piece of stainless steel, in the form of a soap bar or other hand-held shape. The hair cutting tool with the spirit level is called a creaclip and youre supposed to tip your head upside down and clip your hair into it then cut and you end up with face framing layers. I had one. The fringe one is smaller and less curved.
ND is negligent Discharge when used for weapons (most commonly in the military)
3:35 typically they use a come-a-long or hydraulic press to tighten the bolt using these wrenches. These big wrenches are used to tighten something with 1000's of pounds of force.
54:33 they could have made the flair EODaddy but NO !! they picked the lame option instead

Yup.

Nebraska. I only know that because that state was just added to American Truck Simulator and I'm participating in the Cruising Nebraska event.

Oh yeah! That would hold paper cartridges for muskets and the like! (Pretty much it's a musket ball with a pre-measured amount of powder. Bite the end off, sprinkle a tiny bit in the flashpan and close it, pour the rest into the barrel and pack the cartridge down like a regular musket ball).
I honestly thought it was North East

Since it's on their side of the fence you can't touch it, and reporting it to the cops can get messy since you still have to live next to your neighbors.
Secure a large metal bowl to a stick or post and place it right in front of the speaker with the open part of the bowl facing their house (make sure the bowl is on your side of the fence)
12:45 I actually got to see this and me and my friends thought it could've been some sort of electromagnetic storm. Guess we weren't even close.
Edit, Article 15 is a form of non judicial punishment with 3 levels of punishment, the heaviest being reduction in rank, half pay, extra duty, and confinement to base for 45 days
02:36 : yeah, that's definitely two earthworms doing what comes naturally. Fun fact: in earthworms, the mating process can take up to 24 hours, and they repeat it every week or so.

3:42 - I think those wrench are usually used with hydraulic jacks and/or cranes to push/pull the wrench end around the bolt/nut.
Once I saw how people doing this with manual chain crane.
But that wrench was only 52 mm sized, much smaller than this monster (it's like 300..400 mm I think).
10:28 - that name makes perfect sense, on older products where light sensors were a novelty.
32:00 in Basic Training, one of our drill sergeants used to call us "His little Clearing Stations"😂

18:50 If you are unaware at one point the area now known as a the North Sea was (in prehistoric times) above land. It was full of Mammals and trees and was almost all below sea level. But around 6500 BCE a Tsunami from a North American Great Lake sunk it, England was the Highest peaks of this region many proto-human artifacts like spearheads and knifes have been fond from this area, even fossilized footprints. This area was known as Doggerland and I wound recommend doing research on it as it is quite fascinating.

1:47 the country is pronounced check-E-AH, formerly the czech (pronounced check) republic. it is where my late dad was from and i thought i'd correct it as the country means a lot to me
I always knew in the back of my mind the the escalator skirt had some function related to safety, but my whole life I saw it as a free shoe cleaning.
15:01 That's a fence post driver. You put the open end over the top of the fence post. Then using the handles on each side (we can only see one but there's one on the opposite side) lift it up and throw down forcefully. It acts as a hammer to knock the fencepost into the ground.
