Clever Pete! You can use the B natural pad cup below it to nicely trill a long smooth G to G# should that need ever arise. To do this, simply play a G - and then trill the low B pad cup with your right hand middle finger with the finger directly in the pad cup. It works great. Thanks for posting this!
That was so cool,I have been dealing with trying to get used to the pain when i play the low Bb- B trill. Nice ! very nice trick!! ..I am definitely putting it to the test tonite. Thanks for sharing
OMG this is the kind of things that makes sax the most magic instrument. I was annoyed by my slow pinky. In a million of years i hadn't figure out this trick. Thank you very much
Much props. I KNOW that first one hurts. As for the second one, I wouldn't have thought of that in 30 years . . . . . . and I hadn't. Much props. Much respect.
Tricky!!! I like it. I am hoping to receive a Cecilio AS-360-WH for Christmas, is that a sax that you would recommend to an intermediate-advanced high school student for concert use?
simply extend your middle finger straight across the E key and also hold the low B shut by pressing the arm. Then you can trill low Bb using the normal key. Works on alto or tenor.
+Pete Thomas Taming The Saxophone - Hi pete; I dig your videos. It does work on alto even for people with average-sized hands. Sometimes it helps to lift your thumb slightly off of the thumbrest to reach. To do this on tenor is definitely a stretch.
+DirtyBlvdSax That's great that you can do it, but if I try on alto I cannot do a very steady or fast trill. probably with much larger hands it would not be an issue.
You would be playing in the Key of F# on saxophone if Concert Key is A. If they Key on Alto is A, then concert key is C. Just in case I got it backwards.
This is great! Never thought of this!
Never thought I'd see you here!
