One thing I love about this channel is how pragmatic you are about ev's. They have their place but they are best for people with their own charging points.

The standout moment on HubNut for me was when you rescued TWC and TPA from the field. It was such an unusual plan that would never have happened on any other channel. The following video series was incredible, getting her up and running a little further every journey. The rattling noises and the sound of the cvt soon established TWC as a car with a personality that suited her cute face.
Ian, your channel fills a very real need by celebrating accessible classics. I enjoy reading about Astons, etc. as much as the next guy, but my own “pet car” is an MG Midget which I’ve owned for nearly 30 years. Therefore, I can relate to your adventures in a big way and I appreciate that a lot. Your inclusion of both the lows and highs of the hobby reflect my own experience, and I can relate. Being an old Škoda nut i stumbled across your channel whilst looking for Škoda videos. Hooked on your channel ever since. Not everyone is into watching expensive supercar tests which we can never afford. This is my kind of channel. No nonsense but informative and entertaining. When the Tesla Roadster first came out, I remember listening to Jason Calacannis (tech investor) talking to Leo Laporte on the TWIT podcast about it. I assumed I would rarely see Teslas, I thought they would be like Maseratis, Astons and Ferraris: you'd see one now and again if you were lucky, especially up here in northern New England (which ironically is more like Wales than England); but the reality is I see them everywhere. I counted a dozen a couple of weeks ago on Interstate 295 in a 35 mile stretch. So I think they've definitely been 'normalized'. Congrats on 10 years. Been here for about 60% of that time. The best motoring channel anywhere. Fun, factual and accessible. Makes me feel less geeky and more connected with my motoring experiences. I’ve owned Karmann Ghia Type 3’s, Vanden Plas, Nash Metropolitan, most of which never worked properly, to more modern wonders like the Skoda Yeti, Octavia and various hire cars of mundane rubbish like the MG ZS and HS which are lovely and doomed by appalling electrics. It’s my motoring home… the world of HubNut!

Congratulations Ian, this is the first channel I sub'd to about 7 years ago, was never into youtube prior to that or the internet to be fair, other than checking google for stuff I didn't know. It was a Maestro van video I watched first and thought I like this guy and his presenting style, watched a couple more and then figured out how to subscribe. Channels have come and gone out of my list in that time but not this, it's my genuine favourite, the first Motorist social was amazing, I loved it, missed the next as I had covid ☹. Here for the next ten, bring it on.

Congratulations 🎉 I watched your Leaf video in 2016, when we ordered one (still have it). I followed and your channel re-awakened my dormant classic enthusiasm. This inspired me to restore my 1965 Herald 12/50 to the road, which I’ve owned since 1995 (1 previous owner) and had been stored, almost forgotten in my garage for 17 years. A process I thoroughly enjoyed and now have a much needed (for my own wellbeing) hobby again. So thank you Hubnut, long may you continue 👏👏👏😀👍
I was an earlyish adopter with a '66 Leaf, public charging was a breeze, 6 years later and an i3, charging was a nightmare, and stupid expensive, now have a regular car. The ridiculous increase in electricity prices has made EV's unrealistic too. Congratulations on 10 years, a true example of how people follow someone who has a passion.

Nice seeing the Nissan Leaf. I live in Sunderland and did my BSc at Sunderland university. They were early adopters of the Leaf. I reckon you would fancy trying my 2010 Honda CR-Z hybrid. Only between 3,800 and 4,300 units sold in the UK over 6 years depending on where you got your info from, but they are lovely little cars. Cheap as chips to run and insure.

I've little interest in old 2CVs or Invacars but watch all your videos because you seem like a thoroughly nice chap, along with a lovely family dynamic. here's to the next milestone. BTW, we've had a VW ID3 for over 2.5 years now. We did invest in a home charger right at the start so have probably saved £hundreds n fuel in 20000 miles. I don't think I could go back to petrol / diesel now.
I was thinking about buying a used Citroen C5 many years ago, and popped on TH-cam to look for some reviews. I quickly stumbled upon a C5 review video by some HubNut fellow. I remember thinking "this is just perfect", so I just sort of stuck around. Your laid back style and subdued British dry humor, your like for the common but forgotten vehicles that always tend to struggle with their underdog status, combined with your no-nonsense presentation is great. I found the channel sometime late 2018 or maybe early 2019, when I got fed up with watch all these insanely rich youtubers buying yet another supercar and I thought to myself I wanted to watch something a bit more interesting - so I typed "Citroën BX" in the serach window and found your test of a lovely BX Break. What a relief that was. Thank you for shinging the light on the ordinary but quirky - that was just what I needed. About EVs - I do agree on how awesomely comfortable they are to drive. That was part of the reason why I got my Zoe; the Modus was too much fun to drive as a commuter car and It just made me frustrated when I had to conform to everyone elses slow pace. (Also I intend to keep it forever and I didn't want to put a lot of more miles on it, so it would reach the state my Scenic got to, where a lot of small things together made it far too expensive to keep in good order.) In the Zoe I can just float along - but that does not stop me from winning the stop-light GP now and then. It never ceases to amuse me to pull away from stop-lights and leaving seemingly more powerfull cars behind with my rather unassuming commuter-bubble 😂 An EV + home-charging is really the ideal when it comes to commuting in cars.
Thank you for ten years worth of delightful road tests on cars other people spurn. I came to this channel when you did the Morris Marina review, as a family back in late seventies we never had a car but did hire. Always seemed to be Marinas, so I have many good memories of them.❤
Im glad you got the sound effect and wiper test in at the end. It wouldn't be a HubNut vlog without them. Mystery controls: our old KIA had a "cat folder". I avoided learning what it really did because the concept of a device for folding cats was much more entertaining. Yes. EV torque and regen braking are good things.

I remember the first ride in a leaf. My friend had just got one and offered to take me home in it from work. He pulled out of the carpark and onto the main road and put his foot down. It was like the car was shot out of a gun. Thrown back in my seat. For a while from 0-30 it was the second quickest car I'd been in with only an aerial atom shocking me more and I'd driven or been driven in Porsche Boxster S, Mercedes SLK AMG with a 5.0 V8 in it and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Above 30 it got left by all of them but for instant urban acceleration we'd entered a new age.
If nothing else, through ups and downs (both yours and ours), please remember we all love you dearly as Hubnutters. Never change my good man, keep wiper tests coming for years to come. Congrats on 10 years, here’s to 10 more 🎉

First of all I'd like to say congratulations , ten years and the jumper still looks perfectly serviceable. You are absolutely right Ian regarding the way you can capture so much more with the medium of film. If a picture is worth a thousand words then video must be limitless. Your achievements with your channel are inspiring to say the least, HubNut was one of the channels that set me on my own TH-cam journey a few years ago. A very strange decision to place charging points in disabled parking bays when infrastructure is still somewhat limited. 🤔 I'm not in any particular hurry to join the electric revolution yet but my Dad has been purely EV since 2017 and is a passionate advocate of the technology. By the way, the auto wipers on my MK4 Mégane are exactly the same as the Leaf with regards to having to twidle the stalk every now and again.

I joined as soon as I watched the test on the Talbot Sunbeam. You had about 7-8000 subscribers, and were the first person I had seen who found windscreen wipers as interesting as I do.

Discovering you channel probably coincided with me discovering TH-cam as an alternative to TV. Maybe 5 years on I hardly watch TV because youtubers like yourself put out such quality content. Cheers for the videos 👍

I remember the first ride in a leaf. My friend had just got one and offered to take me home in it from work. He pulled out of the carpark and onto the main road and put his foot down. It was like the car was shot out of a gun. Thrown back in my seat. For a while from 0-30 it was the second quickest car I'd been in with only an aerial atom shocking me more and I'd driven or been driven in Porsche Boxster S, Mercedes SLK AMG with a 5.0 V8 in it and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Above 30 it got left by all of them but for instant urban acceleration we'd entered a new age.
If nothing else, through ups and downs (both yours and ours), please remember we all love you dearly as Hubnutters. Never change my good man, keep wiper tests coming for years to come. Congrats on 10 years, here’s to 10 more 🎉

You are absolutely right Ian regarding the way you can capture so much more with the medium of film. If a picture is worth a thousand words then video must be limitless.
Your achievements with your channel are inspiring to say the least, HubNut was one of the channels that set me on my own TH-cam journey a few years ago.
A very strange decision to place charging points in disabled parking bays when infrastructure is still somewhat limited. 🤔
I'm not in any particular hurry to join the electric revolution yet but my Dad has been purely EV since 2017 and is a passionate advocate of the technology.
By the way, the auto wipers on my MK4 Mégane are exactly the same as the Leaf with regards to having to twidle the stalk every now and again.

Quite a ride it's been; I think the first videos of yours I watched were the revival of the "Green Goddess" at one of the "Shite-Fests", and a look at a couple of the "humble classics"; one was an Audi 80 IIRC. I also appreciated that you were celebrating the "lesser" cars; we'd already had enough "supercar" channels, w/ mega-budgets...Anyway, here's to continued great adventures, electric, diesel, gasoline, biofuel and all!

The original Leaf had a menu option which allowed you to choose between 2 different startup jingles or to switch it off completely.
I quite like the start up tune.
