I love your classes. They are short, making them easy to learn and uncomplicated. How can anyone dislike it? You explain just wonderfully, Alexa! Thanks.
Alexa, you're such a great french teacher, I love how natural you are at interacting with an audience that isn't there when you filmed these lessons! Merci beaucoup
Thank you so very very much Ms Alexa. I learned so much today. I took French in 1973 in college and I am amble to retain what I learned back than. You have turn me into a big fan. I will tell my friends about your lesson and encourage them to purchase your T-shirts. A bientot.
I have been learning French for 2 and a half years and I've always struggled spelling French words because I keep putting the accents around the wrong way! I just couldn't memorize where they went; so this really helped me as I can now hear where the accents go. Thank you so much! The examples were very helpful!
Didn't learn this during 5 years of studying French in high school and can now understand the difference from watching a 10 minute youtube video. Thank you.
I notice the video is a few years old so I wanted to drop in and say THANK YOU for keeping it up here! I am a homeschooling mom teaching French for the first time. Your videos are the most helpful ones I have found. Thank you for this great instruction!
My friend in my French class told me about you and I'm so glad! You've made this SO simple and straightforward that I want to cry with joy and relief! I am naturally getting the French accent much more accurately just by reading the sentence you provided. Thank you SO MUCH! My passion for learning has increased and I'm already enthusiastic! You even taught me a word in my native English, 'ephemeral'! 😅 I'll be recommending you to everyone in my French class who doesn't know about you!
I'm a French beginner. I have a test next week and i don't know nothing about French pronunciation. Thanks for supporting me with all these videos. I hope i can do the test well also🤗

Hello guys, I'm from Normandie, France, what I can say after watching a lot of those tutorial french accent vidéos( for some reasons) is: There are less views for this one but it's the best teacher, her french is perfect and her explanations are very right. just saying...Bonne journée ou soirée à vous tous amis anglophones!( have a good day, or night, to every of you english-speaking friends!)
after thinking about it, I said to myself, you're maybe french? teaching french, in fact....So my comment seem a little dumm...? BTW I used your voice when you say "Frrrrench accent" for a scratch dj session... hope you don't disagree with if so, sorry about it and will delete the work... just tell me
You are an incredible teacher. Thank you very much for doing what you do! I watch your videos and learn how to pronounce correctly; my French tutor is impressed!
Merci Alexa, communications major in college. Whenever I hear languages other than English I listen to where the stresses are and pronunciations. Another posted video was teaching grammar rules, I will look for yours, love your sense of humor!
Merci Alexa💕 your energy and way of creative teaching this difficult language makes me alert and attentive to listen all of your videos again and again. Never get bore to watch your lessons again and again. Thank you so much for the shower of your knowledge. Good luck ahead to have a meaningful and happy life ahead my favourite online teacher 💐 with love Youdon(Tibetan from Tibet)
You always have such great videos, but I feel the need to clarify something you didn't really touch on enough, in my opinion. When you're dealing with a grave accent ( ` ) and you're trying to read it when it's accenting 'a' or 'u', it's important to note that those don't ever change the sound of those letters. In fact, « ù » is only ever used in the word « où » to distinguish it from « ou » in writing. « À » is used a lot more frequently, but it's main purpose is to, again, differentiate between two words with the same sound in writing; in this case: « a » (third person conjugation of _to have_ ) vs. « à » (at or to). The only part you really have to pay attention to is the fact that when « à » is at the end of a word, it signifies the enunciated syllable for the word.
You guys are wondersful...thank you for these videos very easy to follow and understand. Very sincere. Thanks again. Hope to learn french in no time.👍👍👍👍
You are helpful and very useful as I am Indian but still i want to learn french... I was getting confused in duolingo butbecause of you i can speak better french😊
Hey, I have a small tip for you as a teacher, which I found very helpful when learning the difference between these two accents (aigu and grave). Use it, or not! Just wanted to tell you, as a student, who used to not understand the difference at all, until.... Grave: Starts on the top left, and dives down ''into the grave''... The reason I'm telling you is because it's natural to start on the left side, because us western folks read from left to right. And I noticed you said ''grave goes from the right, towards the left''.. Which is quite confusing, I think, and hard to remember. So, if you start on the left (like we do when reading) the accent grave dives down into the grave, and then the aigu jumps up towards the right (and here one could add a rise in pitch, I guess, just to remember it better... :-) As in ''Aiguuuuu!!'' Graaaaaave........ Aaaiguuuuuuu! (easy :-) Thanks again - pour les vidéos. Takk skal du ha, hilsen fra Oslo. Tack så mycket, mange tak, gracias .
You have to look for the shape of the mouth while pronouncing, the acute accent is made when you stretch your mouth sideways, almost like smiling it sounds "wider", the grave accent requires you to just open your mouth like when you are in "aaw", it sounds "closeted", is very subtle but there is a difference
That’s how it was for me learning English, to my ears my accent was good but people didn’t understand me, I ended up writing everything to be understood.
7:37 I was still struggling to read this and not listening to what she said but then I was shocked at first that she knows I'm not concentrating anymore.. I thought she can see me..

This can also be visualised. Aigu has a rising "dash" so the flow of e sound goes up. With Grave the "dash" is falling so the sound drops.
