Hi Andy. Thanks for bringing this device to our attention (I'd never heard of it before). Couple of questions: 1. Is it _wireless_ CarPlay and _wireless_ Android Auto ? Or do you have to have your phone connected by cable to use those? 2. Price ? 3. Available in the UK now ? TIA. Paul.
Yes wireless, connects in about ten seconds tops if the phone is in your pocket. Not sure on price as it is still in IndieGoGo stage but around £500 plus options, ships in about two weeks direct from Japan (mine came via DPD). I believe they start shipping next week. Link to the English website is in the video description.
Guys ! What is actual difference between this model for 600 usd vs cheap Aliexpress 100 usd units? Looks like doing exactly the same or even more functions on cheap models? Shall be some reason ?
Difficult to tell without knowing the specific model. The $100 ones seem to be missing blind spot detection, TPMS and I can't vouch for the build quality, mounting options or software stability which on the Chigee appears to be good.
Anyone out there recall "Skully" helmets? They sent out samples too. To much fanfare. They took orders, collected payments, then disappeared and the samples were the only units anyone got. Fancy packaging, glamorous product. Yet it was a scam. Im waiting til people can report having them i. The real world. If they are legit, hooray!!! If.
I wouldn't tar everyone with the same brush. Their customer service has been excellent with me as I'm testing a beta product so I was asking a lot of questions, they have multiple products on the market and it has already launched in Japan. The product feels nothing like a sample, everything was polished in the box when it arrived and it was obviously part of a large run batch. That said, there is no harm in holding back for reviews from IndieGoGo customers as they should be shipping in the next couple of weeks so you won't have to wait long. They are also exhibiting at EICMA (this week) so a big investment for a scam!
Not cheap but I would argue not that expensive compared to speccing the same features on the bike from new (if you can) and it has the bonus you can take it with you. Distractions are a different issue which have a lot of mixed opinions. Pretty much the same as a SatNav.

Nice video no waffle. Do you still have the unit fitted? Any issues? Connectivity etc? Cheers 👍
All working OK so far but miles have been limited
@@andybcole 👍
Does their blindside detection also work when you are using Apple CarPlay?
Yes it does - you get a red flash over the top of the CarPlay screen

Is that an original old 'brown' AC30 in the background?
VOX AC15C2 from around 1990, the one with twin speakers but only a 15W amp 🙂 good spot.
Is it possible to rotate it in portrait mode, like the Ducati Desert X or the Yamaha Tenere 700?
No it is CarPlay specific which I do not believe is designed to run in portrait mode
Any touring planned this year?
I’m hoping so, probably shorter trips though due to family commitments (the dogs mainly!)

Looks complicated but your review suggests otherwise. Thanks Andy.
If you don’t mind a little bike DIY or have a friendly local installer it’s dead easy. More importantly works as advertised!
Chigoe is a flea (Tunga penetrans), so it's probably easier to just refer to it as the flea!
I’m hoping they’re successful, it’s an incredibly powerful piece of kit, wonder if they’ll adopt that naming convention 😂
Oops that was actually a typo - just corrected it 😂

And it can easy been stolen 🙄🙄🤦♀🤦♀👎👎
Not really, it’s easier to steal the TFT screen. You could steal the main unit if you wanted to ruin it or cut all the wires but a bit pointless.
Exspensive, too much distractions!
