      How do I pair those and what is “parable” with MQTT (all wi-fi, zigbee?)

    • @HomeSight

      Hmm, that is a thing which it does to be fair. unless the device publishes its state on a regular basis. There is a work around which I played with a while ago but it took quite a bit of effort and once you have a stable system and stop making as many changes I would think you won’t need to restart as much!

    Great videos! I am looking to start testing some Sonoff Zigbee Bridge flashing and Node Red/MQTT with Home Assistant very soon, so this is definitely going to help! I was just wondering if it is possible to read and display the battery level of the sensor in home assistant as I think that will be an important part moving forward to set up a phone notification to change the battery. Also, how much does this differ to the Sonoff Zigbee bridge setup?

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you! I’ve not setup a sonoff zigbee bridge myself so not totally sure. As far as the data available from the sensors, it largely depends on what the device supports. From my experience, the cheaper the device the less data they provide!

    • @HomeSight

      Hi, garage doors normally have a rolling code, so won’t work with the RF bridge.. what inputs do you have on your garage? I’m doing the integration with mine at the moment to use a nodemcu and a relay board.

    • @GioBen68
      @GioBen68 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeSight thanks for your quick response. Understood it will not work for the garage door 😉 what do you mean by « inputs »? It is 433mhz with simple remote « open/ close ». I added the sonoff SV with nodemcu and it worked well for one month ( once I did put some distance to the 433 receiver) however since tuesday some interferences inhibited the 433 remote control... the integration in HA si no problem. • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I had a remote and socket that it worked with, I didn’t like it too as it didn’t give status, and I prefer the zigbee ones

    • @richardhall206
      @richardhall206 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeSight True, and the remotes don't always catch the signal, so would need some failsafe for that in node red. I'm also going to try to sniff the smart electricity meter we have which I believe is using 433. Have you tried that at all? Failing that, I'll use Shelly EM. With an EV charger soon to be installed and a hot tub to connect I will need to manage my power!

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, my smart meter certainly isn’t pushing anything out on 433MHz. You could always send the signal 3 times to your sockets with a small delay in between. I haven’t got any energy monitoring other than the display my energy provider gave me and an integration with home assistant.

    • @richardhall206
      @richardhall206 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HomeSight Thanks Simon. Some utility meters use 184MHz which is reserved just for the utility sector but, as that's a UK only band, many manufacturers have switched to 433 to have a single European product. I'll let you know if I can see the meter once I get the Sonoff RF. If not, Shelly EM will do what I want.
      I thought the same thing about the sockets. If it works with the remote it will work with node-red!

    • @richardhall206
      @richardhall206 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't think to use the smart meter's display as it's very flaky. Loses connection and wifi very easily and needs to be cycled to regain its signal.

    How were the sensors hooked to the bridge

    • @HomeSight
      @HomeSight  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The RF bridge just listens for the code being sent out by the sensors, so there is no configuration or setup from the sensors as such. You just check the console of the RF bridge or check Node red with an MQTT in node to read the codes being sent. Once you have the code you can configure the sensor in the configuration file.

      Hi, it depends on the device. Some door sensors only send out a code on door open. I bought a sonoff one which did that. It’s really hard to find the right ones some times, as they don’t always specify - a bit of trial and error. These are the ones I bought most recently that had open and close: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Pcs-Wireless-Window-Door-Alarm-System-Magnetic-Sensor-433MHz-/114327146271?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286

      Hi Ton. Is that a typo with - platvorm from when you re-typed it out? It should be. - platform

    Excellent content, but your music and sound effects are SO LOUD relative to your voice. Bad for those who use headphones.
