  • Hello. Welcome to Mart's. In this video I am ready to start putting the motor together. I slid in the cam but lost the footage. Lets pick it up as I put the lifters in, put the gallery plugs in and faff about with the bearings and crank. I'm not an engine builder. Engine builders please avert your eyes. This is how I did it. Mart.

Thanks Vette. It's in the editing suite as I type.

Throw a shop towel or old rag down under the wheel or wheels of the stand to keep from rolling about.

Love watching you build the Crusty Flathead Mart. Do you have seals on the intake valve guides?

Hi Aaron, no, Mate, no seals on the inlets on these early jobs with the split guides.

Hey Mart! Bummer about the cam footage. The life of a TH-camr!! Another great episode and we're getting slowly closer. Are you gonna put it straight in a car or test run it?
I test ran mine and I'm thinking I didn't get the rings seated correctly. Going to the V-8 Meet in Auburn last year in my '35 Fordor (2K miles) I used more oil than I'd have liked on a fresh build. Oh well! It is what it is now.

Hi Jeff. Current plan is to fit it into either the 41 pickup or the 33 coupe, start it on the front drive and immediately take it out on the road. Who knows whether it will be the right thing to do. I might not even make it around the block! Mart.
