1:55 My lab partner in graduate school was Palestinian. She told me about the olive orchards that her family had owned, and lived upon for centuries-since before Great Britain and the United States created the modern state of Israel, at Basel, Switzerland with the Balfour Declaration. The orchards were seized by Israelis, and converted into a lovely suburban subdivision, with an olive tree in every yard. I cannot even imagine the heartbreak.
I spend a lot of time on Twitter and see far too many Jews expressing radical thoughts about Palestinians. Each time I come across a Jew showing support for Palestine or even remaining neutral-like Andrew Garfield in that one clip, Sarah Friedland in her Venice speech, and you as well-it restores my faith in humanity. Thank you!
@@anthonymc8361why do you expect us to be pro-Palestinian? Or even neutral? Israel is our homeland. People seem forget that “Palestine” has never been a state (the Arabs never needed a state of Palestine until the Jews started resettling it because they have 20+ others) and yet Israel is the *only* Jewish state in the world. So please spare me your sanctimony.
Your attitude is why antisemitism exists and why it's growing. Israel stole Palestine from its rightful people. And I'm saying this as a fellow Jew who doesn't believe in the brainwashing you have been subjected to.
@@therealtulipnot YOUR homeland. additionally, your indifference towards palestinians is shocking knowing you experienced the same thing they're experiencing right now, which is also because of zionists (including YOU) who can't get enough of bloodshed. it takes "humanity" to understand them, but apparently you're missing that value. what a shame.
@@therealtulip Putting the land issue aside, what bothers me the most is how you've been treating Palestinians for decades, with Nakba and everything else in between. Sure, I don't agree with what Hamas did on Oct 7, even though I still believe your own gov killed some of your own people as well. But, what you did for the "retaliation" is just not justifiable in any senses. It's almost as if it was a plot to decimate Gaza and grab more lands, which is slowly being proven to be the case.

I might come across as sarcastic but unfortunately I'm dead-serious: the brave people of Gaza are struggling to survive a war and have been starving for month upon month. If anyone is exempt from Ramadan, it's them.
In Islam, poor hungry people and those living in a warzone are excempt from fasting during Ramadan. But of course, we all hope they get to have peace to worship and enjoy the spirit of Ramadan.
I've followed this situation for 12 years, technically 18 years but very in depth for 12 yrs -- Israel ups the ante in aggression during Ramadan for Muslims and before and during Easter time for Christians

We've also seen statements from the so-called hostages, who are mostly genuine hostages, about their treatment by the group, as well as reports on the news showing that they are treated well. Additionally, there are no "hostages" being held in Palestinian homes.
I actually care about the real hostages: the thousands of Palestinian hostages, including children, women, and men, who have been detained for the last 75 years. This year alone, thousands of Palestinians have been taken as hostages and are being treated far worse than any so-called Isntreali hostage.
Release the thousands of Palestinian hostages-the actual innocent ones-not the non-innocent Isntreali soldier hostages.
As a Palestinian who still lives in Palestine I was happy too see such a thumbnail and I had to click and watch how my culture is represented by you,

Way to go, Beryl! Thank you for all the amazing work you do.

As a fellow jew in Australia I am thrilled to see this video Beryl. Thank you and Free Palestine!!!!
Thank you for creating and sharing such a beautifully thoughtful video celebrating the rich and vibrant cuisine of Palestine. 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

I just went to a Palestinian restaurant last week. It was my and my friends’ first taste of Palestinian food, and among other dishes we ordered Salata Filistini, Wara Dawali, and Fattat Jaj. Of course, we had za’atar and zeit and flatbread complementary. The food was some of the most delicious we have had in a while: bursting with flavor and texture, with many lovely spices and herbs scattered throughout. Also, one of my best friends is from Gaza, and one thing people should know is that they love spicy food! They eat and cook with chilies all the time! They also make a fermented chili paste called shatta which is used as a condiment.
That's true in Gaza we love adding shatta to everything even kids eat it

This made me appreciate you even more! I am so shocked that no youtuber is talking about it ... but everybody was talking when the war exploded in Ucraina. How is it possible for humanity do do such distinctions?! I don't know. So thank you for being a decent human.
Ukrainians didn't go into russia and murder babies, children, and innocent civilians ( including muslims). Ukraine was attacked by another country and is fighting for their freedom. That is why so many have little patience for the people who claim they're the victim when they have supported the terrorists running their state. the billions of dollars of aid we used for tunnels and weapons and making a few men rich instead of education and creating a vibrant country.

@ You’re comparing one single day to what a whole nation has been experiencing for many decades.
@ Again, one family is not equal to the millions of Palestinians that Israel murdered. Israel has caused far greater bloodshed, displacement and destruction than Palestinians ever could.
