Aang is 12yo, Katara is 14yo and Zuko 16 and Sokka 15yo, so Zuko is probably laughing at Katara being 2 years younger than him when he called her "big girl"...it's hilarious because making fun of somebody for being 2 years younger is totally something teens do, so pretty accurate.

Dang I just noticed Yue’s dad said some of the faces from there tribe were about to vanish and the first face they showed was Yue’s

I’ve never realized that until you pointed that out.
I love Chris. He's great. However this show holds a special place in my heart and I really enjoy seeing only the fresh reactions for these. People who have seen it don't need to be included. I'm sure many people feel the same way. Keep this group of four for most of the series if you can.

what bothered me the most was like in episode 1 I think, where you told them how Iroh was gonna progress as a character or what his values and his stregnths was instead of letting them experience the character development and so. I do love you as a Normie you are one of my top 3 favorites, but it saddens me to say I rather have only these 4 watch the show to secure a spoiler free journey.
11:15 Zuko can hold his breath for so long because of his fire bending training. Remember in the 1st or 2nd episode, Iroh lectured Zuko that "fire comes the breath" and later in the Deserter episode ZhongZhong made Aang train by focusing on controlling his breath > Breath = fire bender
Wich also comes back into play in season 3, in the Boiling Rock episodes

Katara is wearing the necklace because her Gran-Gran gave it to her Mom and her Mom gave it to her. And since her Mom is gone now, the necklace is all she has left of her mother. There will be lots more on that later on but even in season 1 you could already see how deep the impact of losing a parent was on Katara, even more than on Sokka I think. She is obsessed with that loss to a certain degree, and it is her one weak spot that f.e. Jet was able to use perfectly to bring her to his side.
So in short, the necklace is a symbol for Katara's mom. That's why losing it to Zuko was so horrible for her too, it was like the Fire Nation taking her mother a SECOND time.
I've just got home after working 32 of the last 40 hours with 5 hours of sleep in between and I absolutely refuse to wait to watch this...

I think ATLA IS a kid's show, but it is what a kid's show is supposed to be - intelligently written, subtle, elegant, it doesn't treat its audience as idiots just because they're young. It doesn't aim to turn them into idiots either. It aims to teach and show important matters in a children-appropriate way, but it also doesn't pull any punches. It's a very fine line to walk and ATLA walks it beautifully.

The scene between Iroh and Zuko at 8:43- melts and breaks my heart at the same time. They have so much empathy and love for each other. Like how Iroh's voice breaks when he mentions his son and Zuko saying he doesn't have to say it. Some deep shit right there

Part 1 and 2 are definitely up there on my favorite episodes.
So I know this was 6 years ago. And I’ve watched this multiple times (I admit I was stoned for most of it so it’s not the most memorable thing for me) but hearing Rana’s theory was GENUINELY interesting to me! It made me think, what if that’s how the story actually went? That Zuko brought Aang to Iroh, basically saying “what’s wrong with him?” And Iroh saying he’s meditated into the spirit world and needs to return him to where he was originally. Not only does that introduce an entirely new concept to the show but it gives potential for the story to flesh out in a dozen different ways. Idc how late I am with this comment. I HAVE to give some creative credit to that theory.
I hate how people say "this isn't a kids show" like it's somehow wrong for something like Avatar to be a Kids show. What, all kids shows have to be purely comedic with no kind of deep messages or worldbuilding of any kind? Fuuuuck that, Avatar's a kids show and that's probably what makes it so good in my eyes.

I noticed something pretty interesting about this episode. When they noticed the fire nation attack coming on, the chief said that some faces would diaper from their tribe, and while he talks, the camera shows the faces of yue, her almost husband and Pakku. Pakku gone to the souther tribe, yue died and the other probably died as well (Scene when zhao throws him overboard). So they all we're gone, in a way or another, from the northem water tribe.
What I just realized is how can firebenders "create fire" instead of having a source of element like the other 3?
Plot convenience. It'd be pretty lame if firebenders had to carry around torches everywhere they went. :P
