From outdoor recreation like kayaking on the James River, to art galleries and museums around every corner - there's something here for everyone. Additionally, the cost of living in Richmond is relatively affordable compared to other cities in the state, making it an attractive destination for those who are looking to save money.

    I’ve lived in Richmond for 2 years and I’m already sick of it. It’s beautiful is some areas and there is so much to offer nearby. But on the other hand, everything is so expensive and rising, we’re having to pay hundreds of dollars a year for a car that’s nearly 20 years old in personal property tax. the schools are awful across the state, traffic is a nightmare and drivers are so aggressive. The panhandling is also so bad, some of these people follow us and have harassed us and made us feel incredibly unsafe. We feel unable to take walks or bike rides anymore. Not to mention our rent has gone up 12% each year so it’s becoming impossible to continue saving for a down payment for a home. And don’t get me started on vcu, that’s a whole different can of worms

    Lived in Richmond for 30 years both on Southside and Downtown Richmond and I loved it there. That was 20 years ago. Shockoe Bottom is non existent now

      @@livinginrichmondvirginia6306 I loved The Bottom when there were endless bars and restaurants, Cary Town was cool. Grew up in Midlothian through high school. Enjoyed it until it got huge. Browns island with free Dave Mathew’s on Friday. Moved to Church Hill in my 30’s and loved it. Pony pasture, etc. Oh and lots of buddies live in the Fan still

    There needs to be decent senior housing. We have plenty of that up here north of Albany NY.

      There are lots of 55+ age restricted communities being built now in the RVA area.

    I've lived in Richmond,VA for over 20 years and in the area for more. DO NOT MOVE HERE. The city is incredibly unsafe. Poor city leadership has really ruined this city. Taxes continue to climb with the rate of violent crime. No community policing. Mayor Stoney seems to enjoy stoking racial tension in a once charming city. So much corruption, so much crime. Public safety is neglected and public works is a nightmare. Videos like this highlight very small portions of the city and ignore MAJOR REALITIES.

      While I agree with a lot of what you are saying and would not personally live in the city for a variety of reasons, the surrounding counties like Chesterfield, Henrico, Hanover, etc are safer and more affordable. As a realtor, I need to next exclude the City id Richmond though in my videos.

    My opinion is Richmond is overpriced for what the city and surrounding area offers

      I understand your thoughts on pricing. The market sets the prices and people have been willing to pay the premium for living in the city.

      Same. Just moved here (from Los Angeles, then Lynchburg). It's pricey for what they have to offer proximity/quality-wise.

      @livinginrichmondvirginia6306  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CreditSolutionist I would think Richmond is less than LA but I don’t know that market. If you get outside of the city into the surrounding counties, prices get a little better. Welcome to Virginia.

    A lot of the up and coming neighborhoods! That's what they call them, are crime ridden slums, they take a old warehouse, make expensive apartment's out of them, but the neighborhood is the same as it always was. Crime ridden. But don't listen to me! I have only lived here almost 63 years.

    They need Douglas Wilder back as their mayor. He seemed to really help turn Richmond in the right direction. Douglas Wilder wasn't your typical leftist Democrat. I liked the area around Richmond. Richmond is a beautiful city.

    Con# 1 should have been: CRIME.
    CON# 2 should have been CRIME.

      Sadly most big cities do have a crime element. I find most of it seems to be concentrated in certain areas. It is certainly an area that Richmond, like most cities, could improve on. Thanks for your input.
