Nice to see Vanden Plas getting some love here! Theyre so creative. Discovered them by hearing the song Rainmaker on a sample cd, loved them ever since. ChristO is my fav album by them. Saw them live on that tour (with Riverside). Love your channel. Greetingz from the Netherlands \m/
VANDEN PLAS "On My Way to Jerusalem " is by far my favorite song from Vanden Plas. It represents ,to me, everything that Vanden Plas is- Emotionally charged ,Dynamics,Progressive,Original,Lyrical,Melodic. "On my way To Jerusalem" is an original conceptual story that takes the listener to a spiritual place where the heart is emotionally affected and the notion of God/Jesus becomes real. I tend to hear OMWTJ every time I end my 7mile runs and no other song has ever given me in a state of gratitude and acceptance of the idea of "God" and peace. If you ever see a whimpering old man jogging the streets and in peace- this old man is listening to Vanden Plas- The Best !
Quite the epic - they've maintained their lineup for over 25 years. Now, lead singer Andy Kuntz and guitarist Stephan Lill have formed a side project with some new members called "All My Shadows" - still proggy, more rock. Take a listen to this track - "Wolverinized": th-cam.com/video/YH7hxOR55os/w-d-xo.html Then look at "Silent Waters" to see their rocker side: th-cam.com/video/nqY55vucbAg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/users/hashtagnicknlexrequest
Oh ! Nach Silvan auch noch Vande Plas !!! So eine tolle Band. Wie mitgeteilt nun noch Pyschotic Waltz oder Threshold welches ebenfalls grossartige Prog Bands sind ;-)
I need to listen to more metal bands. This is great. I just checked out an interview with the drummer, Andreas Lill, on the Sea of Tranquility channel. Definitely a talented band.
Ohhh, that surprised me, the sense of urgency the music had while he was singing "no way out" was amazing. I also loved how some of the places where it got quieter where more poppy and some seemed poisoned by distortion.
I love their album Cristo. It is about the Count of Monte Cristo. They even have a choral choir in it. The singer Andy has so much passion in his voice
Narvik that was special brother! What a journey, first time introduction for myself !loved it..thank you 👍Nick there's not a lot I can say after that.......except!! Inspiring in so many ways my friend 💓 Thanks Nick 👍
That was awesome Nick! But I’ve got another band you are really going to love. They are called Jag Panzer. And they are from your area, Colorado Springs. I am going to go ahead and give you four songs, because I know you’re going to want to do a marathon of them. Sworn To Silence, Take To The Sky, Condemned To Fight and Born Of The Flame. They are recording a new album right now. And from what I’ve heard from their guitar player Mark, it’s going to be really awesome.
Great suggestion indeed. Jag Panzer is probably the first US power metal band all the way from early 80's. Vocalist Harry Conklin aka The Tyrant although in his 60's has an amazing voice and can still belt it out like he used to in the initial years.
Megadeth's guitarist "Chris Broderick" came from Jag Panzer, and also played on the 2006 Tour (to back-up Jeff Loomis on guitars) of Nevermore which was featured on the DVD "The Year of the Voyager".
If you ever get back to chicago.....Chicago 2 the blue album...marathon the first two sides....its structured like a classical piece with different movements
Great reaction. While this is probably the best song of the band (especially the first 5 minutes which is a constant and neverending buildup), it is not a great song to react to. It is the final song of a concept album and it takes the whole to really get what it is all about. It is extremely story oriented and this particular story does not have an epic ending, it has an open bitter sweet ending, which is not the normal mode to end a metal song...
Well it figures Narvik knows this band (I'm sure Rudi as well). Great track for a 1st time hear Nick, glad you like them. Every album is solid through and thru. They are another Rabbit Hole much like Pain of Salvation, soo much to listen to (though PoS _now_ sounds VERY different from their 1st 5 albums). I'll have to remember to put this track on a special themed Playlist soon :). I bought their 3rd album "A Far Off Grace (1999)" as a blind purchase and was really blown away, and then to learn there were MANY fans on the Prog Internet Station I always mention from back then. I guess tracks from "Christ 0" (2006) would be good one to checkout, as it was very popular (based on Alexander Dumas "Count of Monte Cristo"). - Thanks Narvik & Nick! I'm sure Lexi will enjoy as well :D.
Yes !!!! My favorite Prog Metal Band since 1995. There is no bad Album by them. You must see them live, that's epic.
so happy to see this band get some love. Beyond Daylight and Christ 0 are absolute classics
One of my favourite prog bands and one of their greatest epic songs. Just when he starts singing I get goosebumps.
Thanks for reacting this fantastic band from K-town
Never heard them until today. Downloaded every album on Amazon Prime absolutely loved this song and they have a new live release coming August 12.

Rainmaker was the tune for me as well. Saw them in a little bar in Sachsenhausen back in 1999. Good times!

They have so many unbelievable songs. It's hard to pick 20 of their best songs.
So true. About 50% of their songs if not more are among the very very best there are.

Their last studio album is freaking amazing. All killer no filler. The Ouroboros would make a great reaction.

Love the way these guys go from calm and quiet to rocking!
Check out Seventh Wonder, or Riverside.
Slayed me.

Good suggestion. Maybe some Titan Force as well.

@@mvunit3 Chris Broderick was a good "sideman" to Jeff Loomis. I love the DVD filmed in Die Zeche/Bochum, the living room of Axel Rudi Pell 🤘
