    That Ilco turned out really nice. It's great to see what a lock would have looked like straight from the factory. Great information for all the Questioners. You should start a series playlist titled Ask Paul

    Hey Paul. On the Yale that is the code cut for the lock. That would have been put on by the locksmith. Only problem is you never know if he has started at the bow or the tip of the key. As always lot's of great information. You are like an encyclopedia when it comes to anything about locks.

    Wow, that Ilco turned out great. You can probably use some sandpaper on just the logo if you don't want to linish it any further.

    Great job on the Ilco restoration. I don't know about the Yale codes. I have Yale catalogs, but no code books. You could probably force patina on that Ilco by putting in elevated above a vinegar/salt bath. Or you could just leave it outside in the Australian weather for a few months. 😂

    • @crankylock7844
      @crankylock7844  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks William. I'll let it cure naturally with time and it will get back to its aged condition. Have a good one:-)

    Another educational video. Thanks for this. What a beautiful cleanup on that ILCO! I know I tempt the patina police when I restore to new(ish) condition. But, some locks just deserve it. You said they start to build a new patina again. How soon does that become noticable?

    • @crankylock7844
      @crankylock7844  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Doug. I noticed that the Lockwoods i have linished start to colour after a few months. I would suggest natural patena will be a long process if left to naturally age. Have a good one:-)

    Awesome video Paul, like the way you explain things, reminds me of Steel Pinnings.
    Anyway, stay safe and distance yourself from people at least 182.88 cm.
    Love you and keep these videos coming!

    Nicely done mate. That ilco turned out really good. A wide variety of answers for everyone. Do you ever sleep?😂 I have a massive ring of those LF keys (140+) but they are all cut unfortunately. Thanks for sharing mate. Have a great long weekend bud 😀👍

      Thanks mate. Yeah, i do sleep. lol. I don't work that hard mate and i do have time to spare so making a video only takes 10 minutes so all good. Just a question for you. Can you have a look at the bunch you have and by chance you have a H506 coded key, i know someone that would take it off your hands. No stress if you don't have one, i can cut one for him:-)

      @@crankylock7844 you aren't supposed to admit not working hard mate😂 we all appreciate the time you take to help out and make videos.
      I just checked the keyring, I don't have one with that number. I do have one that isn't labelled but that could be anything. If you want a photo I'll send it to you. I've also got about a million shorter ones marked ZC.

      @crankylock7844  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@downundermonkey2057 No worries. I'll cut him one. The ZCs are a Lowe and Fletcher key for their cupboard locks. Different codes specific for their product. Thanks for checking your keys all the same. Have a good one:-)

    Great information as always mate. That is a beautiful old Yale. The Yale keys you showed in the book, the tree like part is that for master purposes or newer iterations of the keys?

    One quick question..... What is linish

    • @crankylock7844
      @crankylock7844  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A linish is when i sand the brass on a belt sander at around the 180 grit. Seems to give the most natural finish. Have a good one mate:-)
