    I live on the Texas Gulf Coast. The go to beaches are Galveston and Corpus Christi. Few years ago stumbled on South Padre Island. Could not believe the beautiful, clean waters and real sand beaches. PINS cannot compare. Great restaurants and fishing. I just don’t go during Spring Break.
    Now, I’ve stumbled on Coastal GX and I am a fan. Keep up the enjoyable videos. Got to get myself a kinetic tow rope and I’m set.

      Thank you for sharing. I prefer SPI too, but PINS has its own charm since it offers such a long stretch of drivable beach. I was disappointed with the amount of trash though.

    Hello coastal. I’ve always wanted to make the journey of driving on spi but never knew how before. I’m from the area and it’s always been a goal of mine to make it out there. Thanks for posting and sharing your moments. They help a lot, and importantly, they teach a lot of good information.

    Looks like you had the Ark Trailer Jack set too high. Use the spring pin on the left to push the whole assembly down, that will get you more lift in the future. Also you’re not supposed to winch with it fully extended as it could break, there should be a line on the tube marking the “max moving height”.

    Good stuff. Just left there this weekend. 14:12 Got a hilift jack for that wood? One of the main reasons I use steel cable over synthetic is sometimes I have to run the winch line under the carriage. Yup. It works! Be safe. Subbed!

    • @CoastalGX
      @CoastalGX  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How does the steel cable do with the sand? Thanks for watching.

    • @tangledline
      @tangledline 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CoastalGX It's galvanized so the cable is pretty durable but as with everything, its how well you take care of it. After its use I am sure to completely unwind and rewind the winch so it spools correctly to prevent binds. There are always pros/cons with both but historically, I have never had an issue with steel cables and I been 4 wheeling since 1992. Warn all the way.

    Hey brother I do like your rig the issue with the GX is horse power that trailer weighs 3000 lbs and it is tough on your truck. Might have been a bit easier with a bigger truck. Not sure what the max towing is but I am guessing around 5000 lbs. I go the island all the time and the couple times I've taken a trailer thankfully I haven't had any issues. But I do drive a newer Tundra. I'll see you out there one day, we go often. I am looking into the opus 15 myself!

    • @CoastalGX
      @CoastalGX  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The op4 doesn’t stress out the v8 on my GX. Especially when I’m on the road since the low profile helps while towing.

    Great video, thank you for sharing it with us. I have a full size 21 foot off grid single axle travel trailer that fully loaded weighs 5,200 lbs. I live in Texas and I 've been wanting to take the family down to PINS and do some fishing, my concern is that the trailer might get bogged down. I tow it with a Power Wagon so I've got lockers front and rear as well as a winch so I'm not concerned about getting unstuck I just don't want to have winch my rig out out every mile or two. It looked like you had no problems with your Opus, in your experience what do you think my chances are of getting my trailer down to East Cut?

    • @CoastalGX
      @CoastalGX  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I would advise against it, but if you’re set on the adventure, please go when the weather is perfect and the tides are at the lowest points. Keep an eye on the “wash up” line from the high tide so you know where to set up camp. Leave as soon as you know about a storm or changing weather. Oh, and coat the truck and trailer with a lanolin based oil like Fluid Film or Surface shield in order to protect it. 🎥

    • @CoastalGX
      @CoastalGX  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s doable, but not going to be fun at all. The winds feel more intense and the sand is annoying.

    • @CoastalGX
      @CoastalGX  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ve seen people reach the spot in a 2wd, but they are taking a risk. It can only be done when the weather is perfect and in low tide. I don’t recommend it.
