First class as always. A real shame you are not completing the full restoration Marc, with your skills and ethos for doing things right, it would be one fine example in every area, not just those you are working on. Take care.
Cheers Darren for those words that means a lot. She is one very poorly examples currently which is a shame. Whole knows we might see some more of her. Thanks for watching 👍
That definitely seems to be the way to go, welding the three front panel together and then installing the whole works at once. I used to think British Leyland was bad but Rover has them beat. Cheers,
Thanks. Yes I definitely have much preferred doing it this way for sure and for this instance it massively helped the fitment of the panels as they really were playing ball.
Hi, great job on the front end - just a thought, but the headlight holes are the earlier round type - don't mpi's had the elongated holes for the height adjustment headlights?
Hey thanks buddy. Yes the original wings did have and mpi’s should have the cut out for them. I mentioned this in a earlier episode. These wings were in storage so have been used. They will her a little mod once it’s ready for paint 👍
Marc, why isn’t the A-panel flange folded round before it goes on to the car, and secondly, if you are changing the bonnet, do you have to allow for a slightly different size/shape bonnet to allow the right gap at the wing tops? Looking beautiful 👍
Hi Phil, There is a fold in the panel but is not enough to grip the a post enough hence doing this. I am hoping the bonnets doesn’t get changed as it’s only the lip at fault and it’s a nice genuine bonnet. I guess we will see what happens I don’t to be playing the panel gap game again. Cheers for watching 👍
I'm really impressed with how well this project is coming along, are you finding this more of a challenge than the Budget Clubman or is it just a different set of challenges?
@@SimpsonsClassics I see, apart from the obvious differences ie; Round nose/Clubman it did cross my mind that this one had a lot more rot in it to the point of being able to have reference points would be difficult. I'm finding this a lot more interesting than I expected because as you know I'm all about the Clubmans.
@@graemew7001 yeah like you say apart from the obvious changed in shape it’s more the fact that the later mpi’s just seem to have no rust proofing and the metal is like paper compared to the older minis. But none the less she has been saved for sure.

Thanks Graeme. I would say they are different challenges. These panels are different and the car is very different. But I do like a challenge.
