I was watching it with my daughter. Even the replays weren’t playing back properly. We kept trying to see the replays and they’d get all scratchy. The time it takes to complete a challenge is crazy. They need to fire the commissioner and get someone that can grow the league 3X. Coach/train the players on communication and image. It’ll never grow if they remain a bunch of whiny, angry, ungrateful people.

They had to change the call, everyone in the world saw there was no foul. The fact that they didn’t overturn it is proof that the game was rigged. That’s the only evidence you need, that was literal rigging live in front of our eyes, although there were a lot more tainted calls.

I don't think they define their entire season of success based on one bad call. There were bad calls on both sides, all series, each one unfairly changing the course of the game. It is what it is, and the Lynx still had the opportunity to win in overtime.

O foul attempts for Napheesa and she played 40 minutes. Alanna Smith got body slammed, held, dragged with no fouls called. JJ got away with so many obvious fouls. Even when she did get a foul called, she shook her head no, no way.

No foul. She traveled, and the ball was to the Linx. With 2 or 3 seconds the Linx should be the champions. But if you look at the statistics the Liberty shoot 26-28 free throws and the Linx 6 or 8. The Liberty didn't have an MVP because Stewart and Ionescu failed almost every shoot they tried. Collier received many hits and pushes and was the real MVP without any fouls called. wnba is not a serious league. They should apologize to the Linx team and declare them champions. Watching Napheesa Collier quietly dominate during the playoffs has made me a fan. She's so fluid with her footwork, and she'll drop a cool 20+ pts without creating any noise. She's a class act, and she deserves more hype, tbh.

First of all, Stewart took at least 6 steps on that last play, and no call.Then a strange decision by the ref that the defender was in an illegal guarding position. The laughing during the press conference was obnoxious. If I were a player the status of Stewart I would not be happy winning like this, championship or not. The refs cheated and the game was rigged from the start. SHAME.

There was no agenda, conspiracy, or rig job. The New York Liberty played legal, old school defense. It was one of the best defensive basketball performances I've seen in a while. If you've followed Breanna Stewart throughout her career, from UConn to Seattle to NY, she's always been known for locking down in the clutch. That play when she chased Hiedeman around from under the basket and then to the elbow before blocking her shot as the shot clock expired was iconic. Stewie made at least 5 winning defensive plays late in that game that secured the Liberty the championship.

Where are you seeing any of this? I watched the game live last night, and Breanna Stewart bobbled the pass, finally established possession, gathered herself, and jump stopped to the right elbow, where she was fouled on the wrist as she put up her game-tying attempt. There was no travel (the ESPN commentators would have mentioned it as it occurred), and the foul was clear as Stewie is one of the best players in the world and almost never misses a shot by that much.

A championship trophy use to mean something. Now it is only a participation trophy. Maybe the rigging wouldn't have been so obvious if the game wasn't so messy and unregulated for most of it. But the refs jumped in towards the end of the 2nd qtr and then towards the end of the 4th qtr, both times to close the point spread between the teams ONLY because the Liberty were behind. They were the chosen team not the deserving team. I suspected rigging of games several times throughout the season but seeing it in the last game of the season still shocked me.

A'ja Wilson was the correct pick for league MVP. Most points, rebounds and blocks in the regular season. Plus, first WNBA player in history to have 1000+ points in the regular season. Nypheesa Collier was the correct pick for defensive player of the year.
I agree Rachel, the game was rigged and the league is corrupt (as well as petty, jealous, mean, and delusional). But what about the abysmal level of basketball playing? This is NOT professional basketball, not even close. Both teams should be emabarrased.
Both teams were exhausted after a grueling, physical series. The play in this game was in no way indicative of the product. And had the refs been willing to call fouls on NY, it would have likely looked a bit better.
Both teams normally play MUCH BETTER than they did during the Finals. This is especially true of Sabrina, Stewie, and Courtney Williams (the mid-range assassin). Bear in mind that both teams were playing against OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE TEAMS. The Sun are statistically the best defensive team in the league, but I have never seen such great defense as that played by the Lynx during most of this series. Statistically, the Lynx allowed one less point per game this season than the Liberty, so the Lynx and Liberty are ranked second and third in the league for their team defense. As most avid basketball fans know, a great defense can make even the highest scoring offensive teams look just HORRIBLE!

Challenges should be decided by an entirely different team of officials. The fixing and rigging has been going on all season long. The officiating has been so horrible, there is no way it could be accidental. It MUST be intentional. The WNBA needs to fix this. I for one, am not watching next season if they don't.

My daughter was once the starting point guard for Swin Cash who is now in the WNBA Hall of Fame and was sitting with Angel Reese at the finals game in New York yesterday. My family owns a basketball training facility. Clark got a "Special Whistle" and that is for sure and no doubt in my mind whatsoever. Been around basketball most of my life. What I'm glad about is that they started calling them out towards the end of the season. What did Clark do, cry like a baby, curst the refs, threw the water bottle at the water boy, started hitting things because she is not used to ref calling her fouls. I hear the same thing happened in college. She constantly elbowed people and pushed off horrible because she can't create her own shots. . . . of course that would not show in the stats because they weren't calling them.

1. Officiating is HORRIBLE
2. The game is ‘bull ball’
3. I don’t know what a foul is

I don't think they define their entire season of success based on one bad call. There were bad calls on both sides, all series, each one unfairly changing the course of the game. It is what it is, and the Lynx still had the opportunity to win in overtime.

Fans and a lot of people in the media are calling it rigged they might be able to shake it off but when people like Le Bron and others are also calling it out there will always be an astrix by the win no matter how good you were the rest of the season and people have very good reason to be saying it was Rigged. Also W players this year have clearly not been able to handle social media commentary well and there has been a lot of commentary about this so I think its a fair question to wonder how they see this commentary, and if it dampens the win for them that people don't believe they are real winners.

No foul. She traveled, and the ball was to the Linx. With 2 or 3 seconds the Linx should be the champions. But if you look at the statistics the Liberty shoot 26-28 free throws and the Linx 6 or 8. The Liberty didn't have an MVP because Stewart and Ionescu failed almost every shoot they tried. Collier received many hits and pushes and was the real MVP without any fouls called. wnba is not a serious league. They should apologize to the Linx team and declare them champions. Maybe we need a really truly professional league.

Watching Napheesa Collier quietly dominate during the playoffs has made me a fan. She's so fluid with her footwork, and she'll drop a cool 20+ pts without creating any noise. She's a class act, and she deserves more hype, tbh.
She's amazing and cool as a cucumber. She really was the MVP, if that could be given to players from either team.

First of all, Stewart took at least 6 steps on that last play, and no call.Then a strange decision by the ref that the defender was in an illegal guarding position. The laughing during the press conference was obnoxious. If I were a player the status of Stewart I would not be happy winning like this, championship or not. The refs cheated and the game was rigged from the start. SHAME.
The Lynx player was more penalized for phantom poking that ball than Dijonais got for poking Caitlin Clark in the eye!! 👁️

There was no agenda, conspiracy, or rig job. The New York Liberty played legal, old school defense. It was one of the best defensive basketball performances I've seen in a while. If you've followed Breanna Stewart throughout her career, from UConn to Seattle to NY, she's always been known for locking down in the clutch. That play when she chased Hiedeman around from under the basket and then to the elbow before blocking her shot as the shot clock expired was iconic. Stewie made at least 5 winning defensive plays late in that game that secured the Liberty the championship.

Where are you seeing any of this? I watched the game live last night, and Breanna Stewart bobbled the pass, finally established possession, gathered herself, and jump stopped to the right elbow, where she was fouled on the wrist as she put up her game-tying attempt. There was no travel (the ESPN commentators would have mentioned it as it occurred), and the foul was clear as Stewie is one of the best players in the world and almost never misses a shot by that much.

A championship trophy use to mean something. Now it is only a participation trophy. Maybe the rigging wouldn't have been so obvious if the game wasn't so messy and unregulated for most of it. But the refs jumped in towards the end of the 2nd qtr and then towards the end of the 4th qtr, both times to close the point spread between the teams ONLY because the Liberty were behind. They were the chosen team not the deserving team. I suspected rigging of games several times throughout the season but seeing it in the last game of the season still shocked me.

I agree Rachel, the game was rigged and the league is corrupt (as well as petty, jealous, mean, and delusional). But what about the abysmal level of basketball playing? This is NOT professional basketball, not even close. Both teams should be emabarrased.
Both teams were exhausted after a grueling, physical series. The play in this game was in no way indicative of the product. And had the refs been willing to call fouls on NY, it would have likely looked a bit better.
Both teams normally play MUCH BETTER than they did during the Finals. This is especially true of Sabrina, Stewie, and Courtney Williams (the mid-range assassin). Bear in mind that both teams were playing against OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE TEAMS. The Sun are statistically the best defensive team in the league, but I have never seen such great defense as that played by the Lynx during most of this series. Statistically, the Lynx allowed one less point per game this season than the Liberty, so the Lynx and Liberty are ranked second and third in the league for their team defense. As most avid basketball fans know, a great defense can make even the highest scoring offensive teams look just HORRIBLE!
That wasn't abysmal basketball. The New York Liberty played championship level defense. You can't appreciate it because you're some Gen Z kid who wants to see a wacky 171-168 final score.

Challenges should be decided by an entirely different team of officials. The fixing and rigging has been going on all season long. The officiating has been so horrible, there is no way it could be accidental. It MUST be intentional. The WNBA needs to fix this. I for one, am not watching next season if they don't.

My daughter was once the starting point guard for Swin Cash who is now in the WNBA Hall of Fame and was sitting with Angel Reese at the finals game in New York yesterday. My family owns a basketball training facility. Clark got a "Special Whistle" and that is for sure and no doubt in my mind whatsoever. Been around basketball most of my life. What I'm glad about is that they started calling them out towards the end of the season. What did Clark do, cry like a baby, curst the refs, threw the water bottle at the water boy, started hitting things because she is not used to ref calling her fouls. I hear the same thing happened in college. She constantly elbowed people and pushed off horrible because she can't create her own shots. . . . of course that would not show in the stats because they weren't calling them.

refs also knocked indiana out by allowing WWE moves to be executed against Clark. Not just the eye gouge but being clotheslined on lay ups and Forearm smashed across the face on lay ups ...all ZERO calls. The fix was in for who was Supposed to win, and it was implemented according to plan.
