It never ceases to amaze me, the subtle yet purposeful strokes used in wet shaving. I am just grateful for your videos! Having to shave with one eye, theses videos are a godsend!
Hi Geo, very nice video like everytime. 😀 I am using the Mühle R89 myself. I am German, so just a very minor comment: the tagline "Mühle - Rasurkultur" does not translate into English "razor culture". To be precise it is "Mühle - shaving culture". Razor is a false friend. 😉 Best regards from Cologne, Germany. BTW I like all of your 460+ shaving videos! Keep going Geo!
Been a wet shaver all my life, but I learned so much from this video. Started at 17 with a badger brush, safety razor and Wilkinson Sword blades (I'm in the UK). About to go back to old skool shaving, it looks so much fun. Great presentation, just the facts, no gimmicks, no ego. I can't wait to enjoy shaving again. Subscribed.
Thank you, geo. You guys provide a quick delivery service. Love the R89 I got from you guys as it’s harmless towards my sensitive skin. Started becoming a collector & polishing ‘em all with the Flitz. 👍 I still need to experiment with sharper blades. The Astra gave me a closer shave with the R89 than the Derby.
Hey geo, just picked up one of the r89 heads for my Muhle handle from shavenation after watching this video. Thanks for shipping it so quickly and i appreciate the personal note of gratitude! :-) R-89 makes a great everyday shaver, and i can easily swap the head with that of the R-41 for taking off a three day growth very easily. 😊
A fantastic razor. I use it with BIC, Feather and Bolzano blades mainly. Very smooth. I swap in the R41 head for heavier growth but the R89 Grande is a great every day razor.
I purchased this as my starter DE razor, it was great for a beginner. Also, once I got a little more experience, switching to a feather blade helped make it a touch more aggressive. One year down the line, I'm looking possibly at a feather artist club; however, to pirate someone else line, I'm not too keen on looking like Deadpool.
Let’s have an open comb next. I love seeing them in action. And Mr. Geo, seeing you keeps me motivated enough to keep myself groomed everyday. Thanks. Love and support from India.
Thanks Geo💈💈 Another great daily shave using some quality products. Castle Forbes is good stuff and the balm is very soothing. The bottle has a flip top or mine does anyway. R89 easy and comfortable, superb daily driver. Enjoy!
You deserve a medal. An idea for a future video: Shave Nation Shave Station, i.e., a stand or cabinet one can place next to his sink that organizes all of the shaving gear, logically.
Just got r41. Unfortunately my skin too sensitive as got nicks all over the place. I’ve just ordered merkur fatur as I had the qshave clone of it and I really liked it.
I've used this for the past .. let me check .. 4 years now. It's maybe a tad too mild for me these days, I got it as a beginners kit :) Still does a good job, but you have to move it over your face many more times compared to a Muhle R41 for instance.
@@geofatboy But you also have to be a lot less careful - So there's that :) It's a wonderful razor for daily shaves, no doubt about it. It's mild and safe. You really have to work hard in order to cut yourself with this razor.
Hey, man! I just got a Muhle R41. What angle to you use when you're using it......30 degree, 35, 40, or more? Thank you. I really have learned so much from your vids!
I need some help! Looking at this exact razor and trying to compare to the Merkur 38C. I am new to DE shaving and I shave every work day. I was given a CHEAP Leponix shave kit and I like the smoothness of the shave. The blades are crap, handle is crap but for some odd reason I still like the shave. Help...which route to take?
So he can see the sideburns clearly and make sure he doesn't cut into them, but just under them and make them all lined up and defined again! The cream will leave enough of a residue, that may not be visible on the video but it leaves enough to lubricate that spot.
@@johngoard8272 true! That's the beauty of it. Everyone can prepare, shave and finish the shave in their own way. Can't believe i used to hate shaving when I was younger lol it's theraputic for me now
I don’t know- I’m just not getting it. I’m trying but the neck still gets razor burn and even after 3 passes in different directions, the mustache area still has the 5 o’clock shadow look. Any tips?
I don't, but yes they do. Check out channels by guys named Kensurfs or SinatraLennon and they have a ridiculous number of safety razors. I just use what works for me. Tried the cheap Vanderhagen from Walmart, didn't like it so I spent some real cash and bought the Rockwell T2 (Voted 2022 Razor of the Year) and haven't regretted it one bit. Perfect shave from it every time so I see no need to buy anything else.
Tomorrow my R41 will arrive and I'm just a beginner 😮 Just too curious about it 😳 3 passes are a bit too much for me so I will test out which result I can get with one pass. Maybe one pass with an aggressive razor is beter for the skin than 3 passes with a mild razor... I like shaving more when I have a good amount of stubble so I'm not the type for daily shaves.
I would be very careful about doing 3 passes on the R41. If you have sensitive skin, you may develop razor burns. R41 is usually designed for advanced shavers. I would try using a mild like the R89 or the 34C, which imo provides a closer shave. But if you wish to try R41, stick to just 1 pass & put no pressure on your skin. Shave slowly and gently.
@@michelhouben4233 I wish you the best & enjoy the shave. And I'll keep what Joy Ghosh said about using the Wilkinson with the R41 in mind. Thank you both!
Yes 2 passes & mission accomplished. This is a great effortless razor, fast & efficient. I use this & a r41 (once a week now), the r41 demands a bit more attention & time from me but when in a rush this bad boy is the biz!

I find it difficult to go against the grain on the chin. Everyone's face is different, especially the chin. It's just more prone to nicks and irritation because of the curves. I'm still learning though, so I do agree that by now, I would think Geo would be more comfortable going against the grain on every part of his face haha who knows though
@@austinsterne2404 I don't mind the nicks because my good friend Alum takes care that for me but if you can't go against the grain then I suggest not to do that but if you have like myne which is as thick as a Rhino you can easily go against the grain
