    Loving the content....even getting in to your older content. All hail the Lip Blade! Being from FL I don't get to do your type of fishing on these streams etc...I find it very interesting and it's on my bucket list. Keep up the good work and rocking that blade!!!!!!

    Great tips for skinny water fishing... that's something we do not have a lot of in Mississippi, atleast in my area. Gotta watch out for Cottonmouths, Rattlesnakes & Gators too... Lol 🍺 🎣

      Biggest thing I have to watch out for are mosquitoes. They are TERRIBLE May in late June. They are manageable after that.

      @ShaneJMcNair 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HobieWanKenobi Yes, they were horrible this year in Michigan, worst than Mississippi. Last year was completely different up there, almost no mosquitos. You guys had perfect breeding conditions for mosquitos this year... Thank you again for taking time to do these videos 🍺🎣

    I use that exact same Plano box when I'm wading small streams in SE MI. I find it really handy, I keep my floating minnows on one side and sinkers/suspenders on the other, plus one divided row for terminal. Plus the latches so far have proven to be very strong, I've had bad experiences with two-sided cases before from the latches failing but that one youve got is much, much sturdier.

      I have been liking it. I been using it for years. I had a prior one for ice fishing I broke but, they are not expensive and readily available.

    Greg with the small guides on bfs rods is it better to use your main line or line with a leader. On over hand cast line has been snapling on the brade be hind the not.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Casting light lures on light line, backlashing can break line easily. Using a leader will provide some cushion when using braided line that will give you less chance to break your line on a cast. Braid is really finicky.

    Howdy. Did that belt come with the waders? If not what belt is that. Also what short (shorter than 6 ft rod) would you recommend for tight trout fishing with a shimano calcutta bfs hg

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They belt came with the waders. I would suggest the Tsurinoya Ares or a short glass rod. So much fun...and functional.

    If you haven't yet, 2in easy shiners can be great. I only fish stocked trout in a pond however I don't think anything wouldn't hit it at this point.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those baits work great for bigger trout in lakes. In rivers like I am about to fish, they would get pushed around in the heavy current.

    Very interesting! A backpack would be too much of a load for my back and it would start to hurt too soon. I prefer carrying my stuff in a hip bag. This way, I have no weight on my back and can fish throughout a complete day (well….I don‘t have to care about camera equipment ;)). With regard to your rod prototype….this plastic/rubber material doesn‘t make a high quality impression. Maybe a different design would change the esthetics?
    Keep on doing your good work Hobie and greetings from Germany.

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a hip bag for a while. It works and is more accessible than a backpack. I keep my lures in my waders so, anything that would be needed beyond that, isnt needed quickly.
      For the rod, the grip is carbon fiber. This is also a prototype. The reel seat threads are not exposed and there are some minor cosmetic differences.

    • @arnemueller2112
      @arnemueller2112 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@HobieWanKenobi wow…Carbon fiber….this is for sure a completely different story and of course high quality…I got the wrong impression in the video, sorry for that!

    • @HobieWanKenobi
      @HobieWanKenobi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arnemueller2112 No problem. Carbon fiber is not used very much on BFS rods. I wanted to make the rod different and performance based, not overly focused on cosmetics. I want customers' money to be paying for performance. I never used a rod that a fancy reel seat or AAAA Portuguese Cork made a difference when catching fish.
