    I clicked on the video because Henry.
    And expected “just another Guntherwerks video”.
    I was wrong. This feels almost closer to a feature film. Carfection is king. 👑

    That was epic and for me, Henry / Carfection has taken on the mantle as the best car reviewer out there. He now makes every review an emotional journey, assisted by the top quality production, to the point where you could almost be sitting alongside him. He doesn't get over-excited, or focus on 'Top Trumps' numbers and Pub talk and he doesn't over-elaborate on the technical stuff, which is still informative but which he explains in layman's terms. A brilliant presenter, and a fantastic production team working in harmony and improving all the time. Thanks for another brilliant watch!

      To me the holy trinity is: Henry, Jethro Bovingdon and Chris Harris; 3 of the best car reviewers out there. No bullshit, well informed on the technical as well as the emotional aspects of the vehicles they drive and their passion for the automotive world is just so intoxicating!

    Hears “down there”
    Thinks “YEEEES”.
    There’s no one I wanted more than the 6.5 foot, british wolverine with glasses to walk us through this work of automotive art.
    I love what gunther works does, I love their passion, craft and philosophy. I’m not much of a 911 person, but I admire everything they do. From the technological aspect to the idealogical, from their lap times at leguna secs to their works of art up close
    It’s on my milestone list that I will build myself the perfect car on a platform that i’ve been in love with since I was 5 years old. The budget might not be the same but my philosophy is similar
    It’s my wish that great names will be able to experience this car and give their thoughts on it. I have a list, and it includes names such as james may, chris harris and gordon murray lol. But on the top of that list, sits one name above all.
    “Henry Catchpole”
    Because if there’s anyone who can showcase a car to the world, it’s him

    I don’t what it about the UK based automotive TH-camrs but their reviews are far superior to the US teams (not saying they are bad just a different style of presentation that is not typically my cup of tea). Maybe it’s the calm demeanor mixed with and high level of information presented. Carfection is the cream of the crop in this space. Please keep it up! I look forward to each and ever video.

    If there was no Singer, I would think this is the perfect Porsche, I would be astonished like I was when I discovered the cars of Rob Dickinson. I think this is also a great restomod, worth of the money required, but definetely, I would pick the Singer, the first one, that with only 350-380 Hp for a couple of reasons: first the styling; I find that first Singer absolutely astonishing from that point of view, well balanced, with unbeatable proportions, and over all this perfect shaped wheel archs, quith the bespoke Michelin tyres sides perfectly matching the rims, and perfectly filling the wheel archs, a masterpiece, a perfect sculpture of modern art; and second, the compactness of those first Singers: I find this Guntherwerks somewhat too wide to be ultimately enjoyed in the twisty B-roads I like most.

    • @gouldnj
      @gouldnj 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Points made, but I was stationed at JAC Molesworth and am intimately acquainted with your B roads, and you can keep them. Far too bumpy, far too greasy, and far too clogged with ridiculously slow diesel shit boxes. I will take California canyon roads any day of the week and twice on Sunday. I frankly wouldn’t pay for either the Singer or the Gunther, I’ll take my 991.2 C2S as it’s faster than I can drive it anyway. Happy motoring!

    • @antoniolleradam9354
      @antoniolleradam9354 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gouldnj I wish I could live nearer than 5900 miles (in straight line) to the mighty californian canyon roads you mention. But anyway I can still plenty enjoy my F-Type V8 RWD (which is also faster than I can drive it ... it could be said that I simply don't deserve it) in the also sunny B-roads near my little town, not that much bumby and greasy (just 500 m from home there's the start of a once world championship rally special stage), but sadly, even more full of slow diesel shit boxes than you imagine, and if the worst forecasts come true, soon full of EV-shit-boxes. Enjoy your superbly engineered (I'm not joking) 991.2 CS2 and the superb countryside that goes with! Thank you for your comment.

    I love the looks of these, MUCH more cohesive than the Welties and still looks like a 993 turned up to 11. (I still consider myself a bit of a Porsche purist)
    I have to ask if they changed the firing order of the engine as it doesn't sound like an A/C Porsche at all? It's a nice sound but far more rice than that wonderful metallic rasp and bark of the typical A/C Porshay (think 964 with an elbow).
    Does it smell like a Porsche? (hot metal with just a hint of burnt oil).

    Awesome work as usual Henry. I can tell the car didn’t appeal to you all that much as a great iteration of the 911 for that classic driving experience. The car is clearly over the top for anything but track work. I’m immensely enjoying my plain Jane Boxster S as it’s capable enough to drive faster than you should on the street, but usable every day and still quite entertaining, a lot like a regular 911, but at half the price and a more balanced and easy to drive at the limit chassis at 8/10’s with its mid engine. Can’t wait for the next review!

      @@patrickrosington1174 Maybe. I wouldn't argue that point as I do love a Singer Porsche for sure, but Guntherwerks has been around longer than Singer and they modify their cars a little bit differently than Singer. Singer is without a doubt the PINNACLE of Porsche restoration/recreation/enhancing, etc. The very best of every single part on the Porsche they restore/enhance. Guntherwerks would outrun a Singer though as they focus a lot more on performance to the ultimate level. Singer just does EVERYTHING on their Porsche's to the next level, down to the last nut and bolt, sort of like Pagani. Even Horatio's screws have the Pagani symbol on them and are made to the highest possible perfection. Pagani is one of my all time dream cars! Especially the new Utopia they just put out a couple years ago.

      The coupe commissions are based on existing 993 coupe models. The cabriolet donor cars are for the Speedster commissions, with 25 of those to be delivered to clients.

    I've historically stood by my blanket statement that even the highest of the high end Porsche tuners and conversion companies can build a beautifully engineered product, but they still lack a crucial element of old school passion. Singer started down a good road to redeem that thought, but I don't feel drawn to them like I do with this masterful creation. Not only does the body pull your eyes around it, wondering why the factory didn't do it this way, but my gawd that engine! Who knew you could get that kind of power and reliability with an air cooled motivator, and then the cherry on top, _that_ exhaust note! I'm getting a little weak in the knee just listening to it.

      I prefer the Singer ..... seems like a much more agile car to me. Prices are silly though in my opinion and none of what I see makes me want to restomod my low mileage 993 turbo.

    It would look less of a toad and the handling would be more lively if they took 30mm off each arch and 30mm off each tyre width.

      Yeh but it wouldnt be as fast on the track which was one of the focuses of the vision. I think in the 911 restomod scene, you cannot try to fill the same shoes as everyone else

      @@bingoberra18 fair point. They've definitely done what they set out to do, so I respect them for that and the quality They've done it with. I suppose it's down to subjective taste really. What would be your choice of restomod 911, money no object?

      @@howarddavies136 I mean its hard to argue that there is something better out there than Singer, theyre on a whole different level.

      @@howarddavies136 Yeah but as stated in the video it has fully adjustable suspension. So you could bias it towards road or track with some adjustment. I think with restomod 911s from Singer or Guenther they wouldn't be very good if they didn't include that kind of suspension. I think a lot of the owners of these resto 911s want a car that is fun on track but also nice to drive at a slower pace on a coastal with sunglasses on and music playing.

      @@teabagtowers3823 I think you would have to really mess up the suspension kinematics and give it some scary handling to reduce the grip to below what is inherent in a set up with such wide tyres and track.

    A fine review / film Henry but still think that meeting with you on NYMoors listening / watching you wragging that 911 GT3RS & Merc V8 is the highlight for me! :) p.s. just where is that road you drove this test on - looks fabulously, sinewy (most Un-American) :)
