Truly one of the greatest songs ever written. If this song doesn’t melt your heart you don’t have one.

I remember the day this was wrote. 09/09/1997. It was for my father. He passed on 09/06/1997. Him and Steve were great friends for a long time. This is one of the hardest songs I have ever sung on. Was in the choir at the end, and that part they did in one take. Everyone was there. Was really cool. I was 17, and getting ready for life.

If someone thinks enough of a person to write a song for them, they were definitely LOVED! I pray for your comfort, I know how it feels. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, tell the ones you love the most what they mean to you, one day they will understand.

I have a cheap hobby of buying DVD's in thrift shops of old movies I have usually never heard of. I was drawn to "You Can Count on Me" when I saw that Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo were in the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the story, acting AND music. I made note of "Pilgrim" and came here to listen again. Best $2 I've ever spent!

I only discovered this song a few days ago and can't get enough, It reminds me of my dad and now I have boys he never met and I think about my boys and my dad every time I play it. Not sure why he wrote it but for me it's very personal, family and the inevitable parting of ways through death.

Actually it was in the car on the way. There was no back area in the funeral home my father was in. Just a side area we sat in. But you are very right. I remember him walking up to my mother and gave her a quick run, and she said Roy would love it. My father passed on 09/06/1997, and 09/09/1997 this song was written by Steve. I got the chance to sing on that choir in the last bit, was a memorable experience.
