I'm on day two of my cycle. The state health insurance here is terrible and I've had such difficulty making an appointment for removal. I just sat on my toilet after reading and watching this. I grabbed the string, bared down a bit and slowly pulled it out!! Ever so slight cramp, virtually painless and my body felt INSTANT RELIEF!. I was prepared to go to Dr if complications came up. I am soo happy!! ❤
There are women are doing it themselves because they are going MANIC from unlisted side effects like copper toxicity and their providers are pressuring them to keep it, won't get them in for months, in or refuse removal. The side effects and risks are not being disclosed to patients in an honest way.
My OB also wouldn’t remove it unless I paid $345.00, Planned Parenthood wanted $150.00, and the Heath Center did not have anyone “specialized” in removal of IUDs. I’m cramping, so badly I fall over, and no one will remove it!
Honestly this is why I did it after almost 5 months of pain cramp like from rhe moment I woke up to when I slept it drove me nuts I called the doc due to pandemid they aint seeing anyone but pregnant women i tried to hold on n let it not bother me i finally had enough i cried asked my bf for help make sure to sanitize him wear gloves and removed it in less than 2 mins and I feel weird but I also feel better of course I will be going to a doc if possible but this covid 19 got everyone in a mess
My doctor told me the copper toxicity wasn’t possible when I brought it up ive had it in for 4 years now and planning on taking it out this coming up week , I feel like I’m in full blown labor everytime my monthly comes around and the heavy bleeding is just ugh can’t do it anymore
Removed the mirena IUD after this video with ease, less painful than a tampon. Period every two weeks and moody often. It needed to go! Had it for 11 months.
I know you commented this a year ago but I have a mirena that's about 4 months expired and needs removing but I can't seem to get an appointment because the NHS is on its knees, and I'm so tempted to just do it myself but I am scared ill somehow stab myself lol.. Did you just reach in pull the strings and bobs ya uncle out it came easy peasy? :0 xx
@@SoulxSpectreI'm so sorry for the late response, ensure the T is intact. Removed gently with lube, and booked an appointment the next day for a check up. Everything was fine! 😂❤Sorry again I missed this.
I just took mine out while laying down, no pain whatsoever. I felt a little twinge at first but I continued pulling the strings slowlyly while on my back and it came right on out. As long as you aren't experiencing pain I would attempt yourself. I'm excited to start this next chapter in my life, especially without a 1200 fee lol. Thank you for the courage girl!
Thanks to this video I was able to pull my eyes out this morning and skipped my doctors appointment back to bed I go!!! I’m so glad its out. Won’t dare go blind over any birth control or sign up for anymore excruciating cramps and daily bleeding
@@kortneycorrea8446 I’m removing mine (copper iud) bc I’ve been spotting for 2-3 months straight already. Had it for 6 years 🥲 Other than the spotting I enjoyed it. Hate this spotting
@@GM23XO was the removal easy after 6 years? I’ve had my copper iud for 6 years now but terrified that it will break into pieces when removed since it’s been in so long. Reading all this lawsuit stuff is freaking me out.
They have an actual doctor saying they sometimes leave the strings longer if a patient is interested in self removal. It's a do at your own risk type of thing.
OMG!!! I just took mine out after 3 years! Did it In less than 1 minute. I have been trying for months to get an appointment or even to get someone to look at but unsuccessful each time. Today I finally found a place, called first, they told me to come in. So i took the day off. Just to get there and the Receptionist told me, "sorry too many people came in after you called, we can't accpet you today, come back another time". I was just done with the whole hassle. On my way back home, I thought let me just Google this and see if there's a DIY. Found this video, watched it and read some comments. Went into the bathroom, sat on the toilet seat, washed my hands, inserted a finger, felt around and the finally located the string. Inseted my index finger and my thumb. It was a Very short string. Tried grabbing it but my fingers were slippery. Then I pushed down as though giving birth and grabbed the string, pulled gently and out it came!!!! Just a little bit of discomfort as though it were a cramp. Very easy! Felt immediate relief! TG for TH-cam and all the comments from all the brave women on here. Y'all rock!!!!
@@kortneycorrea8446 it made my cramps so painful i couldnt stand at times and i also had a few cysts that it was making more painful. i felt better immediately after.
I did a bit of research (not much tbh) and pulled mine out this morning. It was easy and painless. My uterus sits at an acute angle so I was a bit nervous. It took a few minutes to locate both threads but fortunately they were quite long so I gripped them and pulled very slowly whilst bearing down a bit. It’s free for removal in the UK but I had been waiting more than two years to get it removed. Every time I went to the doctor he gave me another excuse as to why I couldn’t have it removed. The last time I went he said I might get pregnant. I’m 54, post menopause and my partner had the snip over ten years ago. I have lost all faith in the NHS over the last few years.
Dude same here. The doctor at planned parenthood told me she couldn't find the strings. And I reached up and told her I had the string. She just made excuses to not take it out.
Not a doctor. Just telling you what I know from reading up on it and watching TH-cam vids and what I did with that information. Took mine out today. I learned that it’s better to wait till right before the period starts or during your period so that the cervix is lower and the strings are more reachable. There’s a risk for sure, but I was thinking about that the pain of it being in than the pain of doing it wrong. But iud was intact and now I have zero pain. I had a bit of cramping while I was pulling it out. But no more. But my strings were hard to grasp, I had to squat and I put my thumb and pointer finger in together to grasp( it was difficult but successful). I’m very glad it’s out. No more pain!!
I did it as well, honestly only felt a pinch. Right after I took it out my craps stopped completely. I think this doctors just want to scare people because they're losing money.
Katy Alvarado I agree on the money part, my Gyno had told me it would be fine to do it at home as long as I don’t pull it out too quickly. Had to pull twice just to get it low enough for a good grip, but the it was easy.
My IUD wanted to come out so bad & I almost felt like I could push it out. Mine was so easy to pull out (do it gently) & it was a relief! My cramps & bleeding instantly stopped.
@@elaineadams6227 You really aren’t supposed to do it on your own. I did some research first. I used a firm grip and a steady & gentle pull. I didn’t force anything.
I've had 3 days of excruciating cramps that have left me rolling around on my bed unable to really do much. Since I'm on my period, I just figured they were especially bad menstrual cramps. Due to being on blood thinners, couldn't take any pain meds. So today I felt a surge of blood come out and started to wonder if my womb is trying to push out my IUD. Decided to feel around with my finger and sure enough: could feel that the strings were waaaaayyyyy longer than they should have been. Called the emergency health advice number and asked whether I should just try and pull it all the way out. They consulted the gyno clinic while I waited for more instructions. They said it's ok to try and remove it myself, BUT if things get worse after this: bad pains, bad bleeding, bloating of my abdomen, fever etc, basically anything appears to be an infection, I need to go to the docs. So, right after the call, sat on the toilet, took a firm grip of the strings and tugged it out. The IUD was encased in a huge blood clot, no wonder my body was trying to push it out!! Felt immediately better after that and the cramps stopped right away. This is now my second attempt at using an IUD and I guess my body just isn't built for using them. I know many women love them though. What a shame, since the main reason I had one put in was to control heavy blood loss due to being on blood thinners.
here’s my input on this bc i took mine out last night. i tried for hours hours so when i did this it came out instantly. if your string is short get rubber gloves it will give you a better grip. after that sit in a froggy position and as you pull the string with your hand push like your giving a baby
I told myself that if I took it out, I’d comment, so here I am😭😂 I am 20 years old. I’ve had the Kyleena IUD for 4 1/2 years! I called several places including my OBGYN. Every single appointment I made & went to they always came up with a reason to not take it out. & I am dead serious😭 every clinic, office, urgent care within a 50 mile radius of me turned me down. When I got the IUD in I specifically remember my doctor telling me that it needed to be taken out 6 months prior to the 5 year mark. Well due to COVID every other place that I tried calling could only get me in 2-3 months later and that is why I landed on this side of TH-cam😂. I removed it myself about 30 minutes ago & I did feel a slight pinch but definitely was bearable. I was shaking & very scared but I took a deep breath! I’m currently laying down and I’m gonna take it easy the rest of the night. Of course I’ll go to the ER if anything were to occur but honestly I feel 110% times better. It’s almost like I got this huge relief off my shoulders and I feel so much happier. I’ll be 21 in 4 months but my boyfriend and I are ready for another baby! (Of course im gonna wait a week until my body adjusts since I had that thing in for so long!) We already have a 5 year old and we’re emotionally/financially ready. Although I don’t recommend doing it yourself, but just wanting to share my experience/situation. Prayers to all the women out there that have that device in place!
Were you able to get pregnant again? Many women complained it ruined their fertility even when they removed it after few months. Please help me out here. Many thanks.
@@fahimal9417 Yes ma’am! I took it out October 1st of 2021 and found out I was pregnant December 29th of 2021. I will be 36 weeks tomorrow with a very healthy pregnancy! I’ve had no complications. I was very thankful to be able to conceive as early as I did. I don’t recommend doing it yourself but I don’t regret it if that makes sense lol! After I did the IUD removal, I was spotting and cramping for about 4 days but nothing severe. I will definitely be looking for another form of birth control after I pop this baby out😂 I hope you have a better experience than I did!
I had one for 5 years with no issues and that was 7 yrs ago. Last week I got another one....so far so good. I can also say I can't imagine pulling it out myself. I'd rather let my doctor take it out.
You really need forceps. I'm a nurse in gynecology and I actually had a pt come in and say she had hers fall out so she had her bf try to insert it again. Do not do that!
I accidently did that! I thought I felt something weird, went to check my strings and ended up pushing my iud back in. Nothing bad happened but I had to get checked and make sure I didn't have an infection from it
I tried to make an appointment for a removal and it was essentially mission impossible. My sister recommended I do it myself, I looked into it, and it took exactly 3min of trying before I got it out :)
Yeah, no. A doc inserted it, I'd rather she take it out...even if it's just a pull of a string. The other reason being, if it's coming out I'm replacing it, or I'd be thinking about getting pregnant and would have additional questions.
Just removed my IUD, after the doctor's office receptionist told me I had to make an appointment to discuss removing it and then make another appointment to have it removed, because it has been 8 months since I last saw the doctor. WTF? Do they think I am going to be talked out of removing it? I have had that in for 12 years! It is at the end of it's functional life! And I have been taking about it for years! After removing it, it appears to be in one piece and I only have a little cramping. I have just starting my period, I think that made it easier. It came out with slow and constant pull on the strings, in less than a minute. Hopefully the lower abdominal cramping and bloating I have had for the last 12 years will go away. You can do it yourself!
Megan Kohtz same thing I experienced! They told me the same thing and the first appt is two months out! I figured I can totally do this so I researched for a couple days and I tried it a couple of times and I can honestly say that it was easy! I had a fight with the strings at first but once I got a good trip it came out with a couple of tugs! I'm so happy!
I bet they only ask you to go in and have a consultation about removal so they can invalidate your symptoms and push pills on you instead. Anxiety and depression are common I've read from other women with the IUD it's disgusting what the medical device industry gets away with.
I removed it. Struggled to find the string but once I did I pulled just a little took my time to see if string was slowly sliding out and before you know it it was out.. It didn't hurt at all. I made sure it was all in one piece... No pain at all.. So happy it's out I had previously gone to the doctors and she said to give it time went again and again was told to give it time.... I was so unhappy with the side effects. after a year I finally got the courage to do it myself..
Susie Xxx I pulled mine out too and it had blood on it. I was feeling some cramps and feel it was the time of my period anyway but I am worried I might’ve cut myself with it inside or something but I didn’t feel any pain just felt it coming out like how your cervix feels during the first or second day if you know what I mean. I just need a quick reply google isn’t helping and I’m scared my obgyn is going to scold me. I had an appointment to remove it on Saturday. 😬
amal zuhair I did mine today . I’m about to start my period and the blood that came out I think was from my uterus. If your period is about to start than I think you just saw your period blood. But i didn’t bleed again after I took the iud out. And no more pain. If I were you, I’d go get a check up at the obgyn and just check to see if everything is fine. I’m going to in a week since I’m due for a check up anyways ( I would have had to make two visits and two payments if I had them take it out ) but are you having any pain right now since it came out?
I’ve removed two IUD’s from myself. No, I did not “reinstall” the same one. All that’s involved is slowly pulling the strings and as long as there’s never any pain you’re good. Be sure to make sure all the “pieces” of the IUD is removed, simply look at photos of the brand you had inserted online and compare.
Incase anyone wants to know, I think certain clinics and places like Planned Parenthood can remove your IUD for little to no cost dependingon income. And Medicaid can help cover the cost as well :) ... I can't imagine having it in, and not being able to afford to get it out. Stay safe everyone.
Eff these people on the show "I think IUDs are great" .. yeah right. My first was painful but manageable, the 2nd Insertion was the most painful experience I've had in my entire life. And removal hurt as well. Never again. I have anxiety about getting the 2nd one taken out. Anxiety about going to the gynecologist in general now. I will refuse to have it taken out without being put to sleep.
I have had two one of my ex boyfriends took it out of me in my sleep having intentions to get me pregnant I didn’t feel pain then again I was asleep he was a physco ... I just removed mine about two months ago now my fiancé did it this time we have been talking about wanting to try to have a baby for a while now so he painlessly took it out im glad to see other women did it too I was concerned I just dont want to be charged 300/500$ for a removal . Now we’re hoping for good results I got my period right away and now I’m ovulating... that’s my story
I can't imagine doing it. Mine hurt like hell to remove and I had to take medicine to expand my cervix. I feel like it would hurt to come out and I would want a doctor to do it since they know what to do. Everyone can cut hair or tattoo themselves but doesn't mean you should.
I tried to do it,and I started sweating, feeling instant cramps almost like contractions.😵🥴I stopped right away,so I scheduled an appt to get it removed in 2 weeks.
I had a great experience with my IUD. Got it 6 weeks after my c section and it eased my terrible period pains (pain used to have me on the floor). Only watching this video because I’m nervous to get it removed since my 5 years is almost up
Just removed mine two minutes ago with ease. Hardest part was getting to the string since it is slippery in there. I used the laying down method to feel where the string was and then sat on the toilet to get it out. I felt like I had it when I was laying down a few times but it slipped out of my fingers. I made sure that I didn’t just yank it out and pulled it with caution. I had no pain or blood. Just a few cramps. Now to finally be able to lose this baby weight
@@joannajess4891 oh gosh, I hope you got it out. I don't advise others to take theirs out, but if you do all I can say is be patient and go slow taking it out. Maybe try to lay on the bed and do it or try sitting on the toilet. Worse comes to worse you can get a gynecologist to do it for you if you are having too much trouble. I haven't had any issues but not everyone is the same and I want others to be safe
took mines out after i watched this video . cleaned my hands , sat on the toilet, looked for the string , gripped it and slowly pulled it out . it was fine . i had it for one year and felt like it was slowly killing me . i gotta find another form of BC . cause that one sucked . FYI it was lilletta
I'm going to see the dr monday with possible cysts :( didnt even think it could be down to my iud, they said I may have to have it removed, feel scared:(
My insurance doesnt cover voluntary IUD removal. What I mean by that is that if I wanted to get pregnant, I have to pay my OBGYN $135 to remove it because the only times my insurance will cover removal is if it breaks, slips or moves, causes infection, or if the IUD runs its course and I need a new one. Right now on my husband and my Budget Inn, I can't afford $125 to remove my IUD period I would like the option to be able to do so myself.
Anna Kohler And I definitely see the risk of doing it myself vs paying for it, believe me. I dont want the risk of complications especially seeing the example of the one breaking but as a single mom on disability, its not im budget to pay for something like that. Sure for my next child, I'll definitely be in the best financial place possible and married lol so it may be easier to afford at that point
I hope to God my removal goes smoothly. I get sick just thinking of the removal. I'm worried the strings are too short. I can feel them though so I'm hopeful
I always thought when you paid to have one put in whether your insurance covered it or you pay out of pocket that the price was including insertion/removal meaning that their shouldn't be any additional charge for removal as long as you had it removed by the same practice that inserted it. Actually I quite remember that being a selling point to mine by my medical provider. Regardless of whether you want it out a month or five years later I thought removal was included in the price and that could be done anytime for any reason by the patient
Kes * thisnis exactly what I was told. The initial cost includes removal. BUT insurance is always changing and I bet now it’s not covered just because. I love my OBGYN but honestly I don’t even like the idea of wasting my time to go 45 mins for a one minute situation a waste of both our time being that he’s the most popular OB in San Diego.
I just removed my second Mirena IUD on my own yesterday. I had the first IUD for 5 years and removed it within 10 minutes. Felt a few cramps but came out easily. The second IUD I had for one year. I tried to remove it about two weeks ago and it wouldn't budge. I couldn't get a good grip of the strings and they kept slipping out of my fingers. I stopped trying and waited until I started my period when my cervix was more open, soft and low. This time I had more string to grab and gently pulled and it came out with zero pain in just a few minutes. So relieved it is out of me! Will never be on hormonal birth control again after all the symptoms I had with the Mirena IUDs!
What these male docs are missing is that women are actually supposed to be able to check their strings every month so its really not a huge leap if they feel comfortable and have been checking them anyways.
I just removed mine as well. Canadas health care is down the drain I would be waiting for months to see any one…and even if I did there would be pressure to get another one. I skipped the line and avoided the hassle by doing it on my own. THANK GOD FOR THIS VIDEO! I just went slow and steady, no pain just a slight cramping, it hurts so much more going in for some reason.
Just took mine out, not gonna lie it hurt but felt way better immediately after and it was whole. Not telling anyone to run to the bathroom and do it, but it is possible.
You get miss A HUGE key point, one I'm experiencing currently ..... Is there or is there not potential cervical damage if the IUD is left in the cervix instead of the uterus? Mine is stuck, and I'm terrified of prolapse because I experienced some minor prolapse pre pregnancy. I don't have care, and I need stop know how urgent possible complications could be.
I want to remove mine, but I don’t want to go to a nurse because, well, I’m trans FTM and pass as a guy. Imagine a guy asking to get their IUD removed... embarrassing.
@@wandarosado3303 not painful and no bleeding. Stick your fingers far as you can and give little light tugs at the string. You will feel it coming out slowly. Takes a few minutes.
I just took my out later in my bed with a pillow under my hips and knees up pushing my pelvis forward, I used my left hand and spread enough and my index and middle fingertips were in and at the end of the string to help guide the pliers to grip, I just SLOW AND STEADY stated pulling and it was out before I knew it. I could feel it coming out tho but that just told me to keep going. it wasn't as painful as it was getting it in, it wasn't painful at all for me just a small cramp. I wonder why I didn't just do it sooner, bc there's so many people telling you not to do it... But I don't have insurance or extra money to have planned parenthood charge me for removing it. Now if it did feel difficult and really painful I wouldn't have considered it but worse comes to worse I at least wanted to try before making an appointment. And it was a success
Had Mirena for 5 years and got it removed yesterday by a trained, board certified gynecologist. Don't try this at home. Just go get it removed properly. I was in and out of the office in 5 minutes. Don't risk puncturing your uterus. Just go to the damn doctor.
@@tyreewright3176 No, it was nothing compared to insertion! I had terrible pain with insertion, and the removal was a walk in the park. It's like a tiny split second of pain as they remove it; but it is literally as quick as the blink of an eye and it's done! Just take a deep breath and it's all over with. But it's minimal pain because it was removed by a trained professional who knows exactly what to do. Go to a doctor and treat your uterus right!
I took mine out and I'm so glad. Ask your alexia what happened when postegren is in your body for long time... I was shocked and now know when I was depressed and no emotion and ETREMELY EXHAUSTED. I know someone who has very strict parents and it would be life threatening if they find out that she is sexually active. At some point she needed ultrasounds for a medical checkup and she had to remove it herself.
I’m in a situation right now where covid is everywhere. And no one in urgent care will pull it out for me. Unless I want to wait 3 weeks for a person to help, but I can hardly stand up right now 😭
Brooke Baxter I’m sorry :( I ended up going into the ER and apparently, I have 5 cysts and a couple had burst 😳 The IUD is at the end of its life so it actually caused my cysts with hormonal imbalance. I’m getting it removed in 2 weeks. But thankful it wasn’t embedded. Hope you get yours figured out!
Just took mine out. Was actually very simple. Hold the strings firmly and slowly pull. Do not tug it as that might do some damage. Very slowly and gently. X
A reason some women are removing them themselves is because they're being gaslit by their own doctors. I was in the emergency room with cramping a few months ago and the ER doctor told me having my paraguard IUD in for 8 years is a stretch [even though i was told i could have it for upto 12 years initially] & could be causing my pain, yet she refused to remove it.... just gave me pain medication. So I just removed it myself in the end and I regret ever having one put in, I'd had abdomainal and period type cramps with heavy bleeding for years since having it but every doctor talked me into not removing it. I had the best sleep ever after removing it 😌
What they don't tell you is the iud hook hurts like a son of a biscuit eater. The midwife didn't tell me, but when I went to a MD that does complicated IUD removal pulled it no problem and she said those things are like torture devices I don't know why the midwife used because it caused you more pain trying to locate the strings rather than help you get the iud out.
I’m trying to figure out if I should pull mine out because the nurse didn’t cut the strings short enough and now their hanging out I’m getting a bit of pain so I think the iud has shifted and it’s a bit low
My husband help remove mine.I was feeling sharp pains similar to labor pains.I wasnt comfortable with at at all.Constantly feeling bloated.Had it in only for 2 days only.Took about 10 mins(for him to find the string) and the removal did not hurt at all.I felt better right away.
She’s totally right, the middle eastern lady. The other lady should try to humble herself and maybe learn something. Got mine done at a world renowned facility in 2010, the string was very short I went again in 2017 and it, the string was much longer. Her method has proven itself. Have had it two years and my husband never complained.
Do not do this! I recently did this and it broke. I have part of it inside of me. I'm waiting for a transvadge ultrasound and then I have to have a d and c
Im about to squat in the shower and pull mine out. I have had it for a month and 2 weeks now and I’ve had my period everyday day since. My period has still not stopped along with painful cramps and migraines. So painful I would lay in a fetal position most days even after taking 200 mg of Tylenol. I also noticed I’ve become very lethargic, I wouldn’t say I’m full blown depressed but since insertion im very down and I don’t feel like myself. Before I would jog 4 days a week and exercise for 5 days. I’ve worked out about 3 times last month. My acne got worse and is purging across my forehead and cheeks - I had just got my acne under control before insertion and the IUD completely eliminated all the progress I made with my skin. I know that the adjustment period is between 1-6 months but I can’t imagine doing this for another 4 months. I also would get painful cramps after having sex which was very strange. Sometimes I would get cramps from standing up too quickly or lifting heavyweights. It’s just been too difficult for me. If I wasn’t in a relationship I would wait it out but then again what’s the point of getting an IUD if you’re not having sex? 😂 I’ve tried being positive about this whole situation and if I could name one positive thing during my time with Mirena is that I felt nothing during insertion which is very rare. I even asked my gyno if she was sure she put that sucker in and she was very puzzled and surprised I didn’t feel anything. TMI: I lost my virginity a month before getting my IUD soooo I went in prepared to feel labor pains lol but nothing. That’s the only positive thing I can think of other than that-wish me luck!
@@L0veepanicc 👋🏼 Hi ! I removed it 8 months ago lol. I was having severe pain and told my gyno I needed it removed. During removal she found it lodged between my uterus and cervix. Basically my body tried to expel it. Very traumatizing! I only lasted a month with the IUD. I’m sticking to the calendar method these days.
@@alanisc9439 omg that sounds scary! I actually tugged very lightly on my strings and it hurt so I stopped there. But getting an appointment to get it out has become so complicated when I just want it out now! I’m gonna go back to my Tempdrop + condoms.
I went to a doctor and had my iud removed. I wouldn't want to risk anything.... I had copper..it was terrible side effects. Extreme bleeding and terrible pain and cramps. Worst experience ever, having it .
Stormi Maya did you have horrible discharge? That is my issue. Its been 5 months of horrific bleeding, horrible cramping and discharge. That's what gets me. I've never had this DC before, sometimes it stinks, sometimes it ruins my pantries. Most days of the month I am forced to wear a pantie liner.... Pain in the ass. I am so ready to have mine removed!
Mommy E it might be your having yeast infections which in my opinion sucks. I have been experiencing similar situation I'm ready to get mine removed not sure if I can do my self I'm to chicken to do it lol. I have had mine in about to be 8months now
Lol had been debating taking mine out for a couple days. Did lots of research. Most say just make sure it doesn’t break or be careful if it moved. But mine just came out. It hurt much much less going out than in. Still painful for me tho like a cramp x6. Came out perfectly. I think it’s good for some but it was hell for me. Had it less than a year.
I hate the IUD! I gained 30lbs since March. I feel horrible and I am depressed. I work out and exercise and eat healthy...I even went as far as eating a raw vegan diet and I gained more weight...probably because how much water I am retaining on top of the watery fruit I am eating. I am not peeing as much. Water in does not come out for sure.
When I had mine put in my doctor said I can take it out myself if I wanted too its going on 10 years I had mine in and it's time to take it out so I'm just going to do it myself
My first iud was dislodged without me knowing. I would think that there would be a problem for me trying to do that on my own! I would never ever ever ever pull mine out! This is my third IUD and my first one was morena, which was too large for me. I went in with the worst pain ever and come to find out it was dislodged. Doctor switched me to Skyla and three years later I'm on kyleena as of 1/17/18
The DEVIL. I cannot take the pain of having mine removed or replaced without feeling like I am being torn in two. I will most certainly NOT be removing anything!!!
She said iud hook n my body clenched. I took mine out a day ago after months of calling the doc office n them saying their aint doing procedures n the cramps day in n out was torturing me not painfully but constant little pain would drive everyone mad. I asked my bf to hell me n it didn't hurt it felt like a pinch when he pulled it out today i feel weird but no pain so far
When I had mirena I was miserable. After six months of constant bleeding and cramping I couldn’t stand it anymore. I got so frustrated I took it out myself because I couldn’t wait for my doctor to be available. I did go get checked a couple days later to make sure it was okay
katiexxpaige I'm getting mine removed tomorrow. I had it for 2 months and I haven't stopped bleeding or cramping at all. I got it during my first period after the baby. I have been bleeding everyday for three months now and I'm just done with it.
Reading these comments only confirms I did the right thing saying no to the mirena. My own mother called me an idiot ("People are trying to help you!) and a female doctor told me "You can't even feel it" and "I'm not trying to pressure you." (Really?). But I stuck to my guns and said no. I learned my lesson with the antipsychotics I was forced to take for too long. I wasn't prepared to risk my health again.
@@sharonjensen3016 i have the merene for more then one month, I didn’t stop bleeding from that, I feel misserable, since then I am constantly on bed, tired, have cooked only twice, have three children who have their exams, so tired, my husband also is starting to feel depressed, we did not have intimacy, and I had it done because of the heavy bleeding periods I had , so together I am bleeding like for almost two months, what is the point if you still bleed unstoppable, I went three times back to doctor, each time I get more medicine to stop bleeding, and the medication makes me Sven more sick, today I had HRT medicine to stop the bleeding, this means more hormones 😢, I don’t know if I am going to take it, but seriously think to pull it out myself!!!!
I have the paraguard for 8 months. In pain all the time. went to the er and found out a piece broke inside. So now I have to go through painful removal. it was awful inserting it. now I've got to go through my doctor digging it out.
Our NHS service is diabolical, the worse health system in the world. Especially since covid. Its underfunded and staff are quitting because of the pressures
Made it 3 min into this video. Went and laid in the bathtub and ripped it out. Feel like being on my period helped. Took a couple tries to get a good grip on short string. Bear down on the pelvic floor while pulling. Weeks of hell and endless pain meds done. Bye paraguard!

I pulled mine out while watching this video, with short strings, worked amazing no pain.

@@kortneycorrea8446 it made my cramps so painful i couldnt stand at times and i also had a few cysts that it was making more painful. i felt better immediately after.
@@roxzelos Oh gosh I think we are in the same boat then…
I did a bit of research (not much tbh) and pulled mine out this morning.
She just made excuses to not take it out.
the is the first iud i ever seen that wasn't a cartoon. Thank you doctors for showing me this
I'm surprised they didn't talk about how the string becomes a breeding ground for bacteria when it is longer
It looks like fishing twine here…is it not? I would think an actual string would degrade over 3-5 years and be an infection risk
I just took mine out. It didn't hurt at all. The hardest part was getting a hold of the strings.
How did u manage to do it
Not a doctor.
Just did mines!
My IUD wanted to come out so bad & I almost felt like I could push it out. Mine was so easy to pull out (do it gently) & it was a relief! My cramps & bleeding instantly stopped.
Hey! How hard to you have to tug just so i am prepared
@@elaineadams6227 You really aren’t supposed to do it on your own. I did some research first. I used a firm grip and a steady & gentle pull. I didn’t force anything.
I think your supposed to lubricate the area, maybe with coconut oil
Any complications after removal??
Hey, quick Q. How hard do you have to tug to get it to come out? Should i expect the same resistance as pulling a tampon out or more?
I told myself that if I took it out, I’d comment, so here I am😭😂
I am 20 years old.
How you feel now?
Were you able to get pregnant again? Many women complained it ruined their fertility even when they removed it after few months. Please help me out here. Many thanks.

I was very thankful to be able to conceive as early as I did. I don’t recommend doing it yourself but I don’t regret it if that makes sense lol!
They would probably have talked you into keeping it. That happened to me.
Anxiety and depression are common I've read from other women with the IUD it's disgusting what the medical device industry gets away with.
if i had one, not sure i would want to diy that...
Matika K it wasn’t my period just a little blood that came after taking it out I got my actual period a week ago.
Sadly my local planned parenthood said $150 and I have no insurance so, sad reality I guess

_pOeTz it caused me to have painful cyst!

I literally just removed mine…😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I just removed mine as well. Canadas health care is down the drain I would be waiting for months to see any one…and even if I did there would be pressure to get another one. Hard when the damn doctor charges $300, you have no insurance, suffering from anemia and the closest appointment is two months away…
I took mine out and I'm so glad. Ask your alexia what happened when postegren is in your body for long time... I was shocked and now know when I was depressed and no emotion and ETREMELY EXHAUSTED. ID RATHER HAVE A BABY. NO BUT SERIOUSLY I HAD IT FOR 3.5 YRS AND 4 YEARS PREVIOISLY AND I CANR BELIEVE I DIDNT REALIZE SOONER. I FEEL AMAZING NOW AND ITS OBLY BEEN A WEEK.
I know someone who has very strict parents and it would be life threatening if they find out that she is sexually active. At some point she needed ultrasounds for a medical checkup and she had to remove it herself.
I’m in a situation right now where covid is everywhere. And no one in urgent care will pull it out for me. Unless I want to wait 3 weeks for a person to help, but I can hardly stand up right now 😭
I’m in the same boat
Brooke Baxter I’m sorry :( I ended up going into the ER and apparently, I have 5 cysts and a couple had burst 😳 The IUD is at the end of its life so it actually caused my cysts with hormonal imbalance. I’m getting it removed in 2 weeks. But thankful it wasn’t embedded. Hope you get yours figured out!
Just took mine out. Was actually very simple. Hold the strings firmly and slowly pull. Do not tug it as that might do some damage. Very slowly and gently. X
My strings have disappeared!!!
You should go in to the doctor to make sure it's still in the right place of you haven't already
Have just removed my. Thanks to this video.
My husband help remove mine.I was feeling sharp pains similar to labor pains.I wasnt comfortable with at at all.Constantly feeling bloated.Had it in only for 2 days only.Took about 10 mins(for him to find the string) and the removal did not hurt at all.I felt better right away.
Did u bleed after ?
I took mine out and bleed the next day
If the doctor would remove the dang thing WHEN WE ASK, then this wouldn't be a thing....
I removed mine by my self. no problemo
Crazy Kitty was your strings short?
Ivette Picotte i had my husband do it no problem either
@@Princess-yp7tm when u have sex ur man will feel it n he may leave because of the harmful pain on his penis
Elizabeth Noisette they feel the string not the actual IuD.
They can’t get past the cervix
Elizabeth Noisette
The strings soften over time, immediately after getting it inserted, it will hurt.
No one will remove mine and I need it out now!
My hair has been falling out since I’ve gotten mine… I’m about to try and remove it myself
She’s totally right, the middle eastern lady. The other lady should try to humble herself and maybe learn something.
Got mine done at a world renowned facility in 2010, the string was very short
I went again in 2017 and it, the string was much longer. Her method has proven itself. Have had it two years and my husband never complained.
Do not do this! I recently did this and it broke. I have part of it inside of me. I'm waiting for a transvadge ultrasound and then I have to have a d and c
Isn’t it rare that it breaks though?
That’s the only positive thing I can think of other than that-wish me luck!
how’d it go?
@@alanisc9439 Did you have any lasting repercussions from the IUD? Mine is the copper Mona Lisa…
I started getting acne, it sucks.
When I had mine put in my doctor said I can take it out myself if I wanted too its going on 10 years I had mine in and it's time to take it out so I'm just going to do it myself
My iud has caused me problems, my overdoes are severely inflamed
My first iud was dislodged without me knowing. I would think that there would be a problem for me trying to do that on my own! I would never ever ever ever pull mine out! This is my third IUD and my first one was morena, which was too large for me. I went in with the worst pain ever and come to find out it was dislodged. Doctor switched me to Skyla and three years later I'm on kyleena as of 1/17/18
I love to watch the Dr’s to do exactly the opposite of what these pharma clown$ advi$e
I went to hospital get mine iud removed now I have no period yet
I don’t have my period either how long did it took u to get your period ??
I understand what doctor landry but let’s be honest would you do it for free or an affordable price?
They suck constant yeast infections
THE MOOSH okay so I wasn't the only one lol
I have not only constant infections but hives and horrible weight gain. I will never use this ever again.
Yes! Same. And now my libido is gone. I want this thing OUT!
Took it out 4 days ago. Completely painless
How did you get the strings? I'm trying and trying and pushing down to get ahold of them. I can feel them but they move away
I've had mine for almost 4 years and it really never got any better
@@DropDead1031 they talked me into keeping it and I'm still bleeding. I can't believe I ended up on the same comment. I'm taking this as a sign 😁
I just reached up there to see if it would even be a possibility for me. No. It is not. Way too far up there.
Thank God my insurance covers removal. I wouldn't do it.
I have the paraguard for 8 months. In pain all the time. went to the er and found out a piece broke inside. So now I have to go through painful removal. it was awful inserting it. now I've got to go through my doctor digging it out.
megan diaz omg. I hope this isn't the case with me . I need mine out asap
Just removed mine watching this. Easy . Better than pay to remove it .
The strings also harbor bacteria causing problems.
Arms crossed and leaning away, the Dr dude looks uncomfortable 😂
Seeing all these worries about money for removal in the USA I am thankful for our NHS
You'd better be!
Our NHS service is diabolical, the worse health system in the world. Especially since covid. Its underfunded and staff are quitting because of the pressures
I pulled mine out .with long tweezers no problem at all
Made it 3 min into this video. Went and laid in the bathtub and ripped it out. Feel like being on my period helped. Took a couple tries to get a good grip on short string. Bear down on the pelvic floor while pulling. Weeks of hell and endless pain meds done. Bye paraguard!
