Are you kidding? Oleta's performance alone was kickass enough for an ovation. Her contribution to that whole album on keys and vocals took Seeds of Love to a higher level.
I agree I'm the one that requested this song which is why I thought the live version was better so you can see exactly all that's going on and to pull this song off live is extremely difficult especially when it was raining off and on, Oleta's piano was soaked on the top!
Tears For Fears have a unique ability to be a great singles band, a great albums band, and a great live band. This is a great song from their Seeds Of Love album and the live performance does it justice. I don't know what you've heard before, but check out Woman In Chains, Sowing The Seeds Of Love, Advice For The Young At Heart, The Tipping Point, Head Over Heels, Closest Thing To Heaven, Secret World and many more.
Great song! I've been into TFF since 1983/84 and I first saw them on the Songs From the Big Chair tour (and every other tour since then). Seeing them with Oleta Adams was amazing! I love the Sowing the Seeds of Love album! Great music, all of it!
Saw them on this tour in Santa Barbara, absolutely amazing. They are meticulous in the studio and tiiiiight live.
I stumbled upon this while meandering TH-cam and it was love at first listen, I checked out the lyrics and learned that Roland Orziban wrote it after being outside of a party room at a hotel and heard his band mates talking smack about him.
The Seed of Love album is so intricate and I absolutley love this song

I love this song, but I completely get where you're coming from with this reaction. Badman's song is more suited as an album track and part of the experience of that album. In my opinion, live versions should only be listened to after the originals, as a live sound hits differently for first listeners. This was a great request though.
