My grandmother used to put a thaali and a weight on top of the fish when it was frying. She said it stops the fish from curling up and not getting evenly browned. It worked for her. 😊 Will try your method today which is simpler.
Thanks for this information; traditional methods often have better results though they take longer. Perhaps, when I have more time on my hands and a fresh catch of Bombay ducks, I will try your grandmother’s technique ❤️
Thank you for such lovely and detailed reciepe. I messed up cooking bombay duck yesterday..😅 i tried cooking with this method today and it was made superb. Thanks again.
Thanks for sharing your feedback, Princy! I glad that this video was of use to you😇 Keep up the great work- you didn’t give up after messing up the previous time!❤️
Hello Sampurna! Thank you for the compliment ❤️ Though born and raised in Goa, I now reside in Mumbai. I travel to Goa once a year. So nice that you go there more often🤗
Very nice recipe 😋 you showed Very good job really you did clean the fish very patience And crispy with rava and tawa fry it's really mouth watering 😋😋😋
Thank you, Annie! I used the medium type. I know you get idli rava- that is too coarse, so avoid; and you get a fine one which is almost like flour. I would recommend that either. So the in-between type is best!
Hi Perpetual! Salt was added to fish, and it was rinsed after letting it rest to absorb the salt. That’s how we do it in my part of the state :) I understand we all have our own ways❤️
Isey non stick me mat banaaiye, saadey tawey me banaaiye, phir banengey ye asal crispy. Or isey dry besan lagaa k fry kijiye, phir dekhiye is ka taste.
Hello Aditya! If you watch the whole video, you’ll see that an amount of salt is applied to the fish, and then the fish is set aside. In this resting period the fish meat absorbs the salt. The fish is then rinsed well. This way, the salt does two things: adds taste of course, and also works as an antiseptic. No more salt is needed after rinsing. Been cooking fish in this manner for all my life and no one has complained that salt is lacking. Also, I learned from my mother, who learned from her mother, and so on… We are Goans, so fish has forever been on the menu. On the other hand, I am aware that other cultures adopt a different method of adding fish after washing which is correct for them :) Hope this clears your doubts 😇
Hello Mohan, so nice to hear from you. I will take some training if you promise to first learn to be kinder to people you’ve never met. Thank you and I wish you well❤️🤗
