Sometimes I wish there was just a button that made me forget all knowledge I had of a game, that way I could play and experience Minecraft and many other games for the first time again.
thats actually a great philisophical question, is it pointless? i mean you get happiness out of it, that kind of true wonder is limited after all. or maybe its not, maybe we should not dwell on the past and look for wonder in something new.
What used to make Minecraft special was simplicity. Minecraft before 1.9 (or arguably 1.6) was reduced to the strict essential, and it was the fans who took the job of extending the game's lifespan by creating maps and mods. But today, denatured with all these new features, Minecraft just feels like a self parody, a mod of itself. like tf thought making the diamond weaker than another material was a good idea?? who tf thought making skins a function you gotta pay for was a good idea???
Mmm I feel as though fan (or creator) made maps, particularly adventure maps haven’t seen as much attention in recent years than they previous have. Could be an interesting topic for a video 🤷♂️
The new features were good, however, they failed to release any of the fan-requested ones that would have been popular in a timely manner. They also messed up the first mob votes
You never really had to pay for skins, even on bedrock you can still upload your own. I guess the marketing is that the custom skins get to use different models and stuff but idk

As a newer Java player coming from 360/pocket edition/bedrock, it's just fascinating going back to older versions because not only were older versions simplistic, but seeing the way they changed over time is just really really interesting. I never got to experience Java until this year. And while I do love modern Minecraft, I love exploring older builds of games. Seeing where ideas started to where they are today is fun. Seeing potential futures like what Halo 2 would have been like if Bungie implemented their original vision to what Minecraft would have been like if it had taken a different direction is such an experience that you genuinely can't experience with modern gaming in my eyes

I think that what really made minecraft special was that it was not focused to be realistic. The game had its own graphics, rules, physics and characters that fans loved. Changing the textures to look more realistic and adding stuff from real life to it is just ruining it. It's supposed to be fun and creative. The game was at its best when it hasn't been aiming for money but for fun.
I also feel like their is a lonelier atmosphere to the old versions as well with less of a prevalence of structures. One thing I wanted to add is that I think it would benefit your videos greatly if you played around with putting a denoise filter on your audio with either a DAW or something else to get rid of some of the background noise from the mic since it may turn some people off from watching. Otherwise good video, I look forward to seeing your channel grow.
I really like Minecraft beta because the main focus of the game is building and there’s no distractions like getting the best gear, killing the dragon, etc. It reminds me of my first version of minecraft, pocket edition 0.11.0.
i still play 1.12 modpacks like all the time. i've been moving to more recent builds since modding is either easier or modders are just better at it, but shit like MCE, VolcanoBlock, etc are still some of my favorite
Honestly, the thing I like best is the lack of the hunger bar. I hate hunger in games because it feels like a ticking time bomb which I have to be constantly keeping my mind on. Without that, the game is just a lot more fun,

And like any sandbox...it's defined by the player what makes it great. You are allowed to play any way that you want. THAT INCLUDES playing the older version. Nothing makes it better or worse. Nothing makes anything better or worse. Because YOU define YOUR game. If you wanna play beta...play beta. If you wanna play it modded...play modded. If you like the game as it is...then play it. The game is defined by YOU. Don't let anyone else dictate how to play the game. That goes in all directions. Personally I like how much there is to do in the modern game. I like 1.20. It's cool. So much to do, so many blocks, so many reasons to move. But that means I'm not gonna tell you you HAVE to play it. It's a sandbox. Play how you want.
I personally prefer the legacy Minecraft: Xbox One Edition over the new Bedrock Edition because it has superior performance and I can use my favorite skin, Prisoner Alex.
I really dont understand people playing beta1.7.3. I play beta 1.5 and 1.6 since ins these versions the cobblestone has the good old texture, and there is no tall grass at all, which is really annoying
I don't care about Piglins, Villagers, Deep Dark, Pillagers, Elytras, Trading, woodland mansions... I think some of these things massively take away from the game. What I do care about is beautiful lighting and colours in a beautiful and appealing world to explore and build in, and I think 1.7.3 does that better than modern mc.

old minecraft did support skins, you had to upload them to mojang and the client would use the skin you had made when you were logged in with that account, this functionality no longer works but it might be possible to trick the client into loading a skin somehow, maybe one of the launcers support it oh and all the skins were free, because they were made by the community or by yourself
Well, I like modern Minecraft because I like it. I have no goal in modern Minecraft. I don't want the ender dragon. And I don't really care about Minecraft older Java version. I love the classic Minecraft Xbox 360 version. I don't ry care about anything else. I mostly played the tutorial over, and over. And doing the hunger games AKA mini games were so fun. So, I don't care anything about Java old version. I started about one month after January on Java. And started survival Minecraft in 2021. And I always remember those old Xbox parties. And also I remember my old character with a Minecraft cape and all. It was so fun. But I am perfectly fine with Minecraft. I feel like Minecraft is mostly made for mods in my Minecraft worlds. And also I didn't start Minecraft at 12 like everyone else, I did in 2013.

Minecraft just has general feature bloat nowadays. Too many items, too many blocks, too many weird combinations of items and crafting recipes, early minecraft was mostly learned trough trial and error, and you could become competent at it without consulting a wiki once, only having the recipes somewhere.
@@echo-mc Yeah, it was an intended feature called nightmares. And yeah, if you don't properly light the area around your bed, you get woken up and a skeleton or zombie spawns next to you. I think under some circumstances, placing the bed next a wall with the outside area not being lit will also trigger this feature. (Personally, I thought it was kind of cool, even though it does get annoying.)

Having gotten into Minecraft on version 1.5.2, I have played on-and off until around 1.16, where I closed my long running server over log4j and being burned out on the game. Since I have swore off modern versions over the account and moderation changes, which I disagree with on servers which I otherwise fully control. I have found another game that lets me relive the experience I had in Minecraft as a kid. This game being Vintage Story, which is it's own game, though it does have it's roots in a MC mod. It has a focus on survival and deeply involved mechanics, but has it's own clear vision with development. Which the trailer shows well, I recommend checking the game out as a change of pace from MC; th-cam.com/video/NJjifFq1NGY/w-d-xo.html Recently I've started looking into the Better Than Adventure mod, which is based on Minecraft Beta b1.7.3. Which is a nicely nostalgic experience, it's the comfy core that makes Minecraft what it is, with a few additions in a direction that seem to fit better. I'm liking it enough to where I am considering hosting a server for it again and committing to this long term, like I already have done for VS.
I feel mojang is just lazy now. They don't listen to the community only do what they think is right and focus only on a version of the game that is literally built for smartphones. I don't like that and I wish that would change.

As an old minecraft player who stopped playing in 2013, these versions look like minecraft to me. Newer versions look like some crazy modpack.

Fighting Creepers and Skeletons without shields and sprinting is a nightmare. I guess you could mod those things into Beta Minecraft though.

Pretty sure it’s not a bug - I had it happen to me when I played Beta 1.7.3. I think it’s to do with lighting around the bed.
