I'm from the deep south. I can hear my grandmom saying while making biscuits when you see me crying down here I'm just washing my robe. I'm 50 now. And life has taught me the meaning of that. Thank you for this post
I always admire the way Ms. Jackson handled her voice. The dynamic shading is magnificent, she could use light breath on her voice and sound soft and feminine and then pour on that power and reveal size and depth to her majestic tone. She will forever be one of the greatest vocalists to ever live. From a Christian perspective, she really made you feel what she was singing about, it was much more than trying to wow her audiences with riffs and runs, she had an urgent message to get out and she meant business - the King’s business - in her songs. May the GOD and Father of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah, be praised. 3:34
WOOOOOOW. Whoever you are, you are a godsent. You have all the rare clips. The one's everyone has been looking for. Sheeesh, god bless you. This is a real treasure you have here.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. His people experience His Mercy, goodness and keeping power through the Great tribulation. Receive Jesus today.

Do you know who is talking before Tony Heilbut? I met Tony Halibut in the 80's...probably all Gospel fans know about his book "The Gospel sound: good news in bad times". This book is really extraordinary, he has known so many great Gospel singers...Thanks to him, I had Bessie Griffin and Marion Williams on the line. I will never forget...This song of Mahalia is of course extraordinary. I asked Tony Halibut who has a huge collection of unpublished songs to put on records a song of the Georgia Peach...Did he remember? Anyway, it appeared on a record years after...
Yes, same here. Regarding Anthony...Heilbut not Halibut. Never mind. Giving me direction and guidance in Beulah Land. What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man, say it again.
Actually Mahalia was a little younger than that. This is her January 20, 1952 appearance on Ed Sullivan’s “Toast of the Town” (1948-1955). It was the predecessor to the internationally famous, “Ed Sullivan Show” (1955-1971).
does anyone know the last two section where she is talking about Isaac and Mary's Baby? I understand the whole song except those last to verses. help from anyone will be most appreciated. thank you.
Well these are they from every nation lord every nation You know They’re just washing their garments, washing them white Coming on up through great tribulations you know we got to march all around my God throneWell, well you know Isaiah said he saw the Lamb of God Mary’s only baby He had his dyed garments, dyed garments on He was coming on up coming on up through great tribulationWell we’ve got to march all around my God throne. That particular verse is inspired by Isaiah 63:1 "Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah?"
Isaiah The Prophet Spoke Of Jesus Coming And Jesus Was Mary's Little Baby He Is Often Referred To... And The Lamb Of God.... Coming Through Great Tribulations (An Awesome Song)
I passed by his old church when I visited Memphis. They have a small bridge named after him beside the church. While sitting there, I imagined the crowds and the church in its hey day.
It was on a Lord's day morning, And on a lonely hour, In the beauty of the dawning, oh yeah, As John was in that sight He heard voices resounding, That cross, cross that sky, yeah for the sky, Lord like mighty, Lord like mighty billows bounding, Oh John fell down on, yes, his knees. Well these are they from every nation, Who have washed, washed their garments white, Washed them white, They're coming on up Coming on up through great tribulation Oh as they march, march all around my God's throne. (repeat)
+KJ McRae (slight correction...song actually speaks about John's Revelation that he received while exiled on the island of Patmos) It was on a Lord's day morning, out on a lonely isle. In the beauty of the dawning...as John was in exile.. Then he heard a voice resounding...across the rolling seas. Just like a mighty billowing fountain...then John fell on his knees.

Ann Seabrook its inaudible to me but I've been searching around! Mahalia may have changed the songs lyrics as she often did.
KJ McRae I was able to understand PART OF THE ENDING: 'JOHN SAW THE LAMB OF GOD, MARY'S ONLY BABY).
Ann Seabrook YAY!!! I'm glad you got it and shared!! Thank you so much!

This song was written by the late Rev W H Brewster, Sr of Memphis TN. Clara Ward took the same tune of this song, the song is titled canon.

Cynthia Anderson the songs title is "These Are They" :)
Does anyone have the lyrics to this song?
It was on a Lord's day morning,
And on a lonely hour,
In the beauty of the dawning, oh yeah, As John was in that sight
He heard voices resounding,
That cross, cross that sky, yeah for the sky,
Lord like mighty, Lord like mighty billows bounding, Oh John fell down on, yes, his knees.
Well these are they from every nation,
Who have washed, washed their garments white, Washed them white,
They're coming on up
Coming on up through great tribulation
Oh as they march, march all around my God's throne. (repeat)
