- Mahalia Jackson in Antibes, France (July 1968). The late Eddie Robinson on the piano and Charles Clency on the organ! Mahalia sings "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" and of all the times I've heard recordings, I think THIS is my favorite one! She took her time and she really 'bluesed' this one up real good! I had this uploaded under my account since 2012, but never made it Public b/c someone had already uploaded this! I will forever be grateful for the person who uploaded the 40+ minute video in 2012!

Yes people, In spite of how it may look, God has this great big world that he created still in his hand. God is in control but He is not a controlling God. He allows us to make choices. Lets try to make better choices and show God how much we appreciate all of His creation!!! When I here Mahalia sing this song it puts me in a peaceful place. Because no matter what happens in this world, God got the world and you and me in His hand.

I think somewhere I still have 3 LP albums of hers. I used to play them for my grandmother and for myself. I’m 78 and still love watching Mahalia Jackson sing or listening. She was authentic and a precious gift from God.

Mahalia looked pretty well considering at this time she was recovering. Her weight loss was due to her ill health.

Aside from the slightly annoying camera shots.... MJ was our angel of music. I have all of the Columbia vinyl, most of the Apollo.... And several 78's - I never get tired of hearing her beautiful voice song for our God and our Savior Jesus Christ!
When I see these late 60's (into 1970, 71) performances.... Knowing her health was getting worse, yet she never failed to deliver her God given talent of bringing her vocals to life. She could (and did) move both the saved and the sinners to utter silence. There will never be anyone like Mahalia.
So grateful we have her recordings to enrich our walk with Christ.
Mahalia glammed it up (sparkly gown) for this concert which was probably appropriate among the jet set in Antibes.

For me, the first version of a song I hear - no matter how good or bad the singer is - is the original version. I had heard countless versions before I heard Mahalia Jackson sing this song. ; How strange,' I said. 'For me this is the original.' My aunt said, 'This is the first version you ever heard. You were born three weeks late, and during those three weeks you played this Mahalia song continuously - and loudly too.' I must have been not much space in my mother, it was my first crisis. Could that be the reason why I get emotional when I hear her sing?
