The BBC should host a debate between Lineker and the public who have been directly affected by having asylum seekers placed in their local communities but don’t have a platform to get their concerns across.

    • @HypocrisyLaidBare
      @HypocrisyLaidBare ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah, the public would be facing an empty chair, as he wouldn't have the nerve to say it to the public directly from his mouth.
Even if he did turn up the audience would still be facing an empty chair since Lineker has no brains or mind of his own whatsoever.
If the BBC want licence fees? Then the BBC needs to prove itself a public servant and not a political ally for any party or political decision or stance.
The problem is that the BBC and ALL Channels and radio stations have gone from reporting and making programmes about politics and current affairs to being activists for those who they agree with.
They became too emotionally and socially involved with the political events and opinions they presented.
This has led to perceptions of bias and ultimately to these Channrls, Stations and presenters being biased and openly so.
They were unable to remain neutral and objective.
The question is do the nation expect political neutrality or no political broadcasts? I do not see how neutrality is even possible now.
Too many presenters have succumbed to the urge to be mouthpieces of their chosen political battles.
Even the ostensible Andrew Neil formerly of the BBC fell when he adopted pro-EU and pro-covid rhetoric. His bias and personal politics came forward and tainted the presentation even when he was with GB News, his bias was palpable.
So unless there are people with the utmost restraint to not display or make known their political views and beliefs there can be no neutrality in political broadcasting.
I feel we must accept one of two futures, biased propaganda politics or zero understanding of what is happening in politics until it is unveiled to the public as a finished piece of legislation.
      Which is not democratic.
So I only see future of political propaganda and bias based on channel choices, since no publication or openness of governmental action is undemocratic.
I feel presenter and channel bias is the new future unless you subscribe to the opinions of that channel I suggest you stop viewing unless you have a strong stomach and fortitude.

@@HypocrisyLaidBare Very well thought out response👍 Your final point is 100% correct but I like to get alternative views rather than just gravitate to channels that have similar views and opinions to my own. Personally, I feel this is very unhealthy and creates even more division than we currently have. It should be possible to have a discussion without calling people N*zi or denier for having a different opinion. Problem is if people feel passionately about something the bias will always surface as you point out so it really has to be a case of balance when it comes to these discussions. A good example is Brexit programmes taking place on the BBC when it always felt like the number of pro EU panellists far outnumbered the leave contingent which is totally wrong coming from the state broadcaster. A fair and balanced panel on a subject would make for great TV in my opinion but even if this were to happen who gets to choose the panel members ? Don’t know what the answer is, I wish I did but my major concern is we are becoming increasingly divided as a country and where that ultimately leads us. Cheers.

@@tucoramirez6058 Not so sure I agree. It would be a great opportunity for people with no platform to have the opportunity to get their side of the argument across. Personally, I doubt Lineker would have the guts to face people with first hand experience of living in an area where a lot of asylum seekers have been placed. He shouldn’t use the rhetoric he does without giving the people he’s accusing the opportunity to respond.

I think also this goes back to December 22 when Lineker liked and retweeted a post about a hamas terrorist who was shot dead after firing on Israeli soldiers, he was also a footballer . Allegedly Lineker made some crass comments which resulted in a group called UK lawyers for Israel contacting the bbc about his comments. Also a lady from Labour against antisemitism called him a useful idiot. I think the beeb may now just had enough as they know he will not stop. His clooeagues coming out in solidarity are also extremely useful and useless idiots.
