    Life sends good and bad cycles to close and it is up to us to seek balance in preparation, good and bad times are fleeting, everything passes and depends on how you lead your mind, kill your monsters, reinvent yourself, find your way, and conquer your place hell won't be enough to stop you if you don't let yourself down. These fights show just that. Be a leader of your life

    I remember watching this two years ago when it came out! It's still just as awesome. Great job once again, it's a very well-done short film. It's a simple idea/concept, done in a unique way.

    Loved the camerawork in this. It felt like a really cool music video so I watched it while playing Tool's Lateralus in the background. It works beautifully. I started it about 10 seconds in.

      allsports100 you can learn either traditional wtf is preferred which teaches the principles etc like tae kwon do means the art of kicking and punching also do means knowledge , using our head etc. the best thing tae kwon do does for the individual is makes you play even before the first move happens training do all the counter attack techniques , forms that are built to use in real life situations , all the blocking etc really gives you a great foundation not even adding on to the reflex's you'll get from it while sparring depending on youe instructors way of sparring (old fashioned point system like itf or new one like wtf ) both are great it just depends on the teacher one thing for sure against any martial artist you will have a advantage in just being able to end the fight in one blow which is stressed on tremendously

    It's nice to see the combative practicality of capoeira strikes portrayed so skillfully.

      I wouldn't personally use the word "practicality" since it's a HK hyper reality fight scene but glad you enjoyed it.

    what does his bloody face represents at the beginning?

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Cortez Freeman The bloody face is a symbol of whatever issue the character is going through when hearing devastating news on the phone... could be anything you want. Loss, depression, rejection, etc. The fighters come out as a physical form of the problem he can actually face.

    • @themusicman2005
      @themusicman2005 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup. Notice how he gets dealt another MAJOR blow at 7:46. It brings back old wounds, but through prolonged fighting and perseverance, the character had grown stronger, and it was not enough to hold him down for long.

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dimitri Trippenbach Moves are fine... problem is the Hong Kong style choreography... this is why this was my last fight scene in that particular style and why we don't do this type of choreography anymore.

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darque Robinson you are thinking way too much into lol
      Honestly there was no extra time put into any more of the 3 opponents. Choreography was determined based on how each fight flowed into the next and little by little my character improves. Main reason red beats me so easily in the beginning is simply because of the characters confusion. There are also little cues to show each fight plays out more or less the same. Hence they knock me down with the same punch or I xblock reds punch into blue or blue sidekicks me into greens kick. The idea was simply all the all the demons were connected. The races had NOTHING to do with it except we thought the colors off set it nice.
      That’s pretty much it. The film is left to a lot of interpretation but the fighting pace of when the character was winning or losing was more or less about the pace and progression.

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darque Robinson yes you are thinking too much into it. That’s your own thing not mine. CJ and I have fought each other on camera dozens of times with numerous outcomes due to the story that came with the fight scene. Both frank and I thought nothing of race when making this film. Whatever amount of hits you counted between any of the performers was completely coincidental. You choosing to be offended over what you choose to interpret. Keep going has nothing to do with race in the slightest. The casts diversity so happen to be how it based based who was available for filming back in 2012. That is it.

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darque Robinson if one doesn’t think to do it... they didn’t do it. So does that mean every fight scene CJ beats me up is racist to white people? Because there is a lot there too lol
      You are the one counting the amount of hits thinking that gauges a worth or something on race. It’s not. Merely means placement in the arc of the story and nothing else. At the end of the day I get beat up by all three and I beat them up too. That’s it.

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Darque Robinson there is nothing to consider. I don’t keep track of hits based on race. It’s the pace and flow of action depending on the sequence. You are thinking far more into it than me and the other director intended. We already had the layout of the fight storyboarded before CJ was even cast. Both CJ and Orlando were replacements when we had original actors in mind. CJ being black had nothing to do with the character at all.

    Great video! How much experience in choreography did you have prior to making this?

    • @dardrex777
      @dardrex777  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      At the time we made this in 2012... by that point I had been making films and choreographing fights for 6 years... and now it's been 10 years.
