    Looking at it, it is an 80's style bike and the reason a lot of people like riding it is because it's so comfortable. This is a perfect starter bike! Not only will it get you hooked, but you can grow into the size if you treat it with respect from the get go.... Lovely price too. You can't go wrong with a Kawasaki cause you're gonna get a lot of bang for your buck!

    I had a Vulcan 500 which had the cruiser body, 6 speeds and a parallel twin engine with a chain drive. Some of them had a belt drive. It sounded British. Good bike. Even though it looks like a cruiser, it really is more of a screamer. It was faster than my current Sportster but with less torque.

    Currently have a 95 750 Vulcan. I love it. Love that you reviewed it and gave it some kudos. Shes my first bike that I've actually learned to ride on. Mine has about 15,000 miles on it.

      Was also my first technically. Had the 450 as a starter after first private lessons. Had it for a few months and friend crashed it who going to fix it. Since he had gone with me to buy it and hauled it etc and it was cheap buy and he rode it since I couldn't yet ride it and needed a bike for the lessons, I let it go. Eventually bought the 750 loved loved it...but a little over a year later moved from Cali to NYC and decided to sell vs transport cross country. Still love the bike - the feel - the look.

    I had one, did a few 2000milesl trips. Ended up selling at around 32000miles. Great bike. Miss it.

    A couple years ago I bought one of these for 500 bucks. The drive shaft had stripped out at the diff. I fixed it and it was one of the best bikes I've owned. Definitely miss that bike.

    I owned a brand new 94 Vulcan 750 absolutely loved it for my first bike and I would definitely ride it again they are sooo comfortable and grate for riding with a girl on the back plenty of power crazy reliable.awesome bike that's why they kept them the same for so long

    First of all, the Vulcan 500 is nothing like the Vulcan 750. It is a parallel twin, taken from the EX500 Ninja sportbike. It has chain drive. The 2 bikes look nothing alike, and share nothing in common. I have owned 2 Vulcan 750s, both bought new. A 1993, and a 2002. I sill have the 2002. It has close to 110,000 miles on it. only major issue was a stator failure ( which requires pulling the engine to replace) The 1993 had over 80,000 on it when I sold it. I didn't like the bike I replaced it with nearly as much as I thought, so I kept it less than a year, and bought another Vulcan 750. I would buy another one right now if they still made them. This bike first came out in 1985, and was produced through 2006. Only changes were paint colors. The seat is the most comfortable motorcycle seat I have ever sat on, second only to a 1500 Goldwing. And it had the pegs in the wrong place (damn JB Hunt driver) Run that thing up through the gears shifting at 8000. I have hit 100 on an onramp You'll think you on a crotch rocket. It tops out at 120 mph GPS, and still hasn't reached redline. The Vulcan 750 easily outran all the original Japanese 1500s, and not by a small amount. The engine was originally designed to go into a sportbike with chain drive, but that changed when Honda came out with their V4s in the early '80s So it was repurposed for a cruiser with shaft drive. That's why it doesn't look like a cruiser engine, and has that clunky add on bevel drive gearcase on the rear left side of the engine.
    As far as small bikes, after riding Goldwings for many years, I joined a small bike group, and believe it or not, bought a Honda Rebel. The only requirement for this group is that the bike had to be 250cc or less, and it would be all road riding. Nevertheless, many chose dual sports, which have a brick for a seat. Even 250cc or less CVT scooters are allowed. My Rebel is one of the fastest of the bunch. I can tell you for a fact that a Rebel (with proper maintenance) will run full throttle for over 80,000 miles before it starts to eat it's valves. That equals about 75 mph GPS. Being a twin instead of a single, with 2 small pistons instead of one big one, it loves to rev.

      The Vulcan 500 before 1995 looks a lot like the 750 except for the motor! The old 500 also has belt drive at least mine does! it's a 93' I like 750 and its on my list!

      Own 2 vn750 and an en454.. Before making a bobber out of the 454 it very closely resembled the shape of the 750.. Bar the parallel twin motor and the belt drive.. The 500 vulcan is vastly different. The shape is way off and the 500 has that kicked out rear fender where the vn750 and en454 have a more rounded down rear fender.. . These vn759 are so underrated. Absolute monster of a Bike!

      No the older 500 vulcan were shaft drive not belt drive & at some point they switched to chain just because it was cheaper.
      But yeah the 500 vulcan is a parallel twin it is basically the same motor from the 500 ninja. My first bike was a 97 vulcan 500 it was a great first bike, they make right at 50hp at 8500 & Max torque was about 36 around 7200 rpm. I bought mine used from a guy who had bought it new for his wife she put 5,000 miles on it & laid it down in a parking lot & decided just to be a passenger only after that. I bought for $950.00 it had a huge dent in the tank and a bent foot peg but was mechanically perfect. I bought because my buddies had a 600 shadow & the other one had a 650 V-8star, both were almost a decade newer than mine but the 500 vulcan with the high raving twin was much quicker 0-60 & quarter mile. Kawasaki said it topped out at 90 lol, but if you research on line most people say they top closer to 105 to 110mph depending on weight & gearing on the chain drive models. I used GPS & topped mine out at a whopping 107 & I was about 235 at the time.
      I also did some weekend 700 to 1,000 mile round trips with my dad he has a Dyna wide glide. I had two removable leather saddle bags & a small handlebar bag. We tried to highways & backroads as much as possible on bike trips because interstate is boring but when we had to crush some miles on the interstate I had cruise at 70 to 80 miles per hour pretty easily the bike gets a little buddy over 75mph but not bad also they are 6 speeds which helps with the interstate speeds. I think for a beginner they are better more versatile bikes than 600 shadow & 650 v-star. Their a little lighter & a little quicker, the only real negative is you do miss that v-twin sound. Parallel twins don't sound awful but a v certainly matches the cruiser style better.
      I would live to see Sean review one especially since he obviously knows so little about them!

      Vulcan1753 Great comment. The Helix arguably had an even more comfortable seat than the Goldwing! The Helix would be my choice for a 250cc Club! I rode a Rebel in 1985 for an afternoon and you couldn't give me one, the vibration alone would disqualify it for me, and that seat is worse than my Dual Purpose to me. We had a Kawasaki 305 CSR in the group that was better in every way, except it wouldn't qualify for 250 club! I had a couple of Kawasaki 440 LTD at the time, one chain, one belt driven. That belt drive model was the best in class in the mid 80's in my opinion. Anyway I had a friend with a Vulcan 750 that got rid of his other bikes. I took a motorcycle class around '90 and the instructor had a lot of praise for this engine. I'm here because I'm thinking about getting one.

    I have an '05 and I had the carburator re-jetted with sigma6 jet kit. It really changed the bike's performance for the better. Well worth the $300.00 it cost.

    Yes! Thanks for finally doing this test drive review, which I wanted to see since late last season. It's exactly what I wanted to see. Sounds like you weren't all that familiar with the Vulcan 750, which is a legendary bike, produced for over 20 years, essentially unchanged during that time. A real blast from the past. I've heard that tall riders seem to like it, and that is has very impressive power and acceleration, and this video backs up all that.

      @@ONEFAITHofJESUS no, tall riders can tolerate it, but it’s not built for the tall rider or anything. It’s pretty low. I’m not surprised that a 5’4” rider can flat foot it. I think it appeals to lots of people, which is why they used that same design for 20 years.

    I've had mine for 2 years and put over 15k miles on it. It had a 20 year production run with almost no modifications so parts are easy to come by. The bike is low maintenance and lots of power. There are a few quirks that have to be addressed, but that is part of the fun.

      @@ONEFAITHofJESUS check out VN750.com. 1. "Coffee Grinder." When cold, you can get clutch chatter. The fix is to take out the clutch basket and drill concentric circles around it. 2. "Dry Spline" For some reason, the spline going from the drive shaft to the rear end were not greased during assembly on some bikes. Fix is to pull the rear wheel and inspect it. If it's dry and chewed up, it may need replacement. Otherwise, lots of moly grease and off you go. 3. "Tuxedo Mod". Stator replacement. This is a very well engineered bike except that there is a tendency for the stator to go bad and replacement is a massive ass-ache unless you do the Tuxedo Mod. 4. "Coaster Mod" One of the emissions elements circulates exhaust gas back to the cylinder to re-burn. On my bike it caused a lot of backfires. This simple modification fixed it. These are the main quirks.

    I really loved this bike it's by far the most comfortable bike ever,I'd take my girl and me from mass to fla every year for bike week and she'd literally fall asleep on the back seat at times.god I'd love to own another one so bad,I've owned a vmax and cbr 900rr the Vulcan was the best for long rides.

    Mine had a sweet spot between 80 and 90 where every thing would just line out and it loved cruising at that certain spot. Like it over came the wind and felt like you were being pushed from behind and the engine ran so smooth and sweet.

    Great video! One of my first bikes and still love it. No longer have a bike but when I get another one would love to get another 750 Vulcan if could find one. And just like you said, some people love the 80s look. I took it on the highway seldom but when I did it was just great - very comfortable and has great pick-up as well. Thanks again for the this great review. Ah that sound brings back wondrous California memories before I moved to NYC and sold it vs transporting.

    I've had a 2002 for 10 years. Now at 40k miles. Rides bigger than you think a 750 would. I take frequent 180 mile interstate commutes. A smart, dependable bike that holds its own with cruisers.

      @@thomasgallaspie9040 only problem I had was a metal elbow for coolant.had broken off near the engine. I just used high heat/pressure plumbing hose and a couple of toes metal ring clamps you tighten closed with a screwdriver or wrench. It held up just fine.
      Other than that I just rode it and did seasonal maintenance and was happy for quite a few years. I made a few girlfriends happy too. No one is the same after riding on a motorcycle.

    I bought an 85 model (first production year) new . It was a 799 cc model. I thought I wanted an 883 sporty until I rode both. The Vulcan was light years ahead of the sportster in every category. I was a no brainer for me. I loved that bike, it simply did everything you asked of it. Twisties , commuting, touring and was very cheap to maintain. One thing I dont like is when the quit painting the motor black. but truly a great bike

      Agree with your observations. But I'm sure that was a typo when you said it was a 799 CC. It was a 700 because of the Harley tariff, but whether it was a 699 or a 698 or whatever I don't know.

    The Vulcan 750 will easily hit 100 mph down an on ramp at full throttle. It out accelerates a 1200 Sportster. The Sportster feels more relaxed at highway cruising speed though, because of it's much lower rpms. The Vulcan 750 makes an excellent solo touring bike. Easily as comfortable as a 1987 or older Goldwing. And it is amazing how much stuff you can carry on it. I have 129K miles on my second one, bought new. They do have a few issues. They seem overly prone to stator failure, and replacing the stator requires removing the engine, which requires practically disassembling the entire bike. The automatic cam chain tensioners tend to fail around 10K miles. They are a defective design. You can buy aftermarket cam chain tensioners for them that solve the problem permanently. They also have a counterbalancer, which has rubber dampers in it, and they tend to rot over the years. When they do, the balancer will start hitting the crankcase, and make a loud noise. If you ignore it, it will grind right through the cases. Replacing those rubber dampers also requires removing the engine. Like the stator, they are under the left engine cover. And the last thing is, the final drive splines need to be lubed with moly grease every 10,000 miles, or they will chew themselves up. Unfortunately most of them came from the factory with no grease on them, and by the time they reached 10,000 miles, there would already be significant damage to the splines. All these issues likely explain why, even though they were made for over 20 years completely unchanged except for paint colors, there aren't many of them still out there. I can definitely hear some cam chain rattle on that one, and the exhaust sounds like somebody might have cut the baffles out of it. These bikes make a lot of power for a 750cc v twin for several reasons. They are almost completely opposite to a Harley. They are a short stroke high rpm design, have four overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, dual plug heads, two carburetors, a counterbalancer, liquid cooling, and a highly tuned intake and exhaust system. As of right now it is very difficult to find a nice one, and parts are becoming very hard to find, and the ones that are still available are very expensive. I would buy a brand new one right now if they still made them.

I'm outside of the DC Metro area close to the mountains and my problem is I don't have enough money and space to pick up all the cheap ones out there on Facebook marketplace. I believe there are four at about a thousand dollars within a hundred miles of me right now. And none are above 2500 dollars. And I'm pretty sure the one for $2,500 only has $2,800 mi so there's your new bike. I would buy more of them but I already have three with titles, and two without titles as parts pikes. I just missed out on a beautiful one with 12,000 mi in Pennsylvania for only $1,200. Man they're out there here in the Mid-Atlantic

    The Vulcan 500 LTD was a parallel twin, the Vulcan 750 is a V-twin they share no parts and are completely different but appreciate the video of the bike as always, thanks!

      The Vulcan 750 is a great handler on twisty mountain roads. The 454 LTD was a poor handling bike, and the 440 LTDs were okay. How would the 500 Vulcan handle on twisty and/or mountain roads? I had a Shadow 500 6-speed that was a close contender when I decided to sell it and keep the Vulcan 750. I really like the six-speed overdrive transmissions and wish my 750 had one.

    The 500 is a parallel twin. The 750 is a vtwin. An uglier bike has never been built, but I owned a vn750 for a while. It was ultra reliable save for the vac petcock valve issue. I had to carry one withg me at all times lol. Takes 1 minute to change. Mine ran great and was a great commuter. I did not have a car for 2 years, I rode that vulcan to death lol.

    I had a 750 Vulcan years ago. I had to find out how fast it could go. I had it up to 120 mph when i lost my nerve. I think it could have gone faster. I rode with a bunch of friends who had 1340 cc Cruisers. No problem keeping up, actually faster in my opionion. I did plenty of long distance rides on this around 800 miles and more.

      @@chrisnixon1991 I had an '85 model and rode it for several years. Never gave me a problem, excellent gas mileage, very good handling and extremely comfortable on short commutes or long highway trips. It feels extremely light weight and very decent power for a twin. Excellent torque when going up mountain roads.

    About time! lol My first street bike was a Kawasaki 440 Ltd 1982. I rode dirt and trail as a kid and quit around 11 years old... I hadn't even gotten my license yet and I hopped on it for the first time got on the highway and drove it an hour and 45min. to home.I was 19...My dad made me get my endorsement and I went everywhere on that thing. Everywhere!

      AWESOME! My first was an 82 LTD 440 as well Loved that bike. sold it about 1988-89, hadn't ridden again until 2012 when I bought an 2011 Suzuki V-Strom. I love the style of the 80's bikes. The newer cruisers are all Harley wannabees.

      Walter Smith Wow, nice coincidence!! Unfortunately, mine was stolen. I went trail riding, off road, behind levees, and through the woods, not to mention the states that I went to on it. That thing was perfect for me and it was as smooth as a Cadillac... I recently purchased a 2007 suzuki s83 needed a little tlc, my dad is doing that. I can't wait to get back on a bike!

      That's great! Just be careful. Today's drivers are far less attentive,. You REALLY need to pay attention to what others are doing. And if your dad is getting it ready for you, then I'd like to offer a little advice. There is a company called "TWISTED THROTTLE" that carries replacement motorcycle horns. They're not that expensive, but they are incredibly LOUD! A must have for safe riding. I would also recommend their wiring kit for said horn(s). I have the Stebel Nautilas, An older model rated at a higher volume than the current one. Anyway, good luck, have fun and be safe.

      I had an 87 440 ltd. Bought new. That was a great little bike. I commuted to work
      on los angeles freeways for 6yrs. Not a bit of trouble. I put 60k on it and the engine blew! but it was worth every penny. 6yrs for a small bike 60k. Well worth the 2k I paid for it. Still miss that little bike!

    Dude don't be negative on 250's or less, my daily is a '02 Dragstar 250 which takes me to work and back, driving 40ft reefer semi's. Other than hat, your review has me made up my mind, my 2nd bike, a summertime cruising / holiday bike, will be a '97 - '03 Vulcan 750. lovin the 80's look, same as the dragstar, look after the bike and it will look after you without any major problems...

    Most people would think its a shitty little bike because its pnly a 750, but it doesnt behave like one. 60hp is wild for a 750 cruiser. This was my first bike and i underestimated it in the beginning. With a rejet and getting rid of those stypid filter boxes on the side and adding pods it makes it even more of a hoss. I had mine on the interstate regularly and it loved it. Im on a stage 1 scout bobber now and am still impressed by the vn750, vs800, and vz805. Absolute badass little middleweights.

      The VN 750 and the VS 800 on underrated bikes. They are each faster and better handling than their larger siblings The VN 1500 and the VS 1400. I've owned all four And although I favored the bigger bikes I kept the middleweights!

    The Vulcan 500 is an an inline 2 as opposed to the 750 which is a V Twin. The 500 has a Ninja engine on it and proceeding that was the 454 LTD which also had the Ninja engine.. Also that 750 used the exact same instrument cluster as the 454 LTD.. so they just reused that to keep the cost of these bikes down on R and D no doubt

    Just to speak to the power of this motorcycle, I was about 280lbs when I had mine. I took a female friend who was a solid 200 lbs up the mountain on rt40 south of uniontown PA. It is an extremely steep 3 mile twisty scenic road. The bike was able to travel faster then I had the balls to hang the corners at. They definately have more than enough power for anything you want to do with them. The are just ugly as sin lol.

    Out here in the Rocky Mountain West( Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, & Nevada) many of our highways are 75+. On I80,its 80mph and people often go well above that.
    Would this bike be able to do about 80mph for about 150 miles consistently.

      I love my Vulcans, and it will certainly do 80 miles per hour, easily. When I'm out for a fun ride and want to open it up I have to keep holding myself back because I'll look down and I'm doing 95. Still it wouldn't be my first pick for an 80 mph commuter. Still it's a great do it all bike and it will do it and not complain.

    That would be one heck of a bore and stroke job to change a 500cc to 750cc. They are completely different engines.

    Had one of these last year, but ended up buying a Suzuki Hayabusa after a few months. This bike is very easy to ride, and quite nippy considering what kind of bike it is. If you slap on an aftermarket exhaust, it even gets a nice V-twin sound. Had way too many problems with mine though; got tired of constantly having to fix something on it.
    Sold it to my mother's boyfriend last year, but I'm actually going to borrow it for a while now since my Busa broke down yesterday (fuel pump or some such - bad luck). Looking forward to riding it again, actually, since it's such a pleasure to handle it.

    VN750 was my first bike. It's a terrible bike in terms of carb cleaning. The frame was originally made for a VN700 because of the restrictions. Then Kawasaki increased the engine without changing the frame when the restrictions were lifted. On some parts, for example, a passenger peg mount, you can see VN700 written on it. So there are parts that are in fact interchangeable with VN700.

    I had a 94 of all can 750 it was the best bike I've ever owned out of all the v-max's cbrs Harleys that Vulcan 750 never broke down navigate me any trouble always started comfortable as hell I drove the thing cross-country never hurt my back I just love that bike it is a perfect bike my girlfriend love riding on the back just the best bike quality build I've ever owned if you want to ride these things then they never die

    In 1988 I was 18 years old that was my dream bike I was a cruiser boy back then. I never had one but I always wanted one. Of course now I much more prefer naked standards. Cruising a 2021 Kawasaki Z900 RS café

    Had mine for the last 5 years or so, great bike that’s light on its feet but comfy enough for a long cruise. But now it only starts when jumped, then runs flawless. Battery holds a good charge but it just clicks when I try to start it. Ideas?

      A common ignition/starting/charging problem for the V750 are the Stator or the voltage regulator/ignition module.

    I have same bike, only it's a 2006. For long multi-day trips I wear a 60liter REI backpack and adjust the shoulder straps so it sits comfortably on the passenger seat. I don't know why folks spend on unsightly saddlebags, etc, that don't hold much of anything and are out of the slip stream which is a real noise maker and drag at highway speeds. I also carry an extra 2 gallons of gas for remote trips like Death Valley.

      Awesome choice, I currently have a 91 Vulcan 500 and I love that bike it rips through traffic and I can keep up with the big boys believe it or not. I’m still looking to buy a 1995 Vulcan 750 just for the real motorcycle experience seeing as the 500 is basically a ninja motor and the 750 is a Harley motor.

    hey guy's , i have a 750 Vulcan , i am from the flanders belgium , mine is from 1993 and i love it , i have once trying his top speed , and it reach 180 K/h but with little wibeling although but on 160K/h it feels real confortable and save , i presume re balansing my wheels would take a way the wibeling on her top speed , but , i left it , cos i dont want to drive that fast or kill my self by idiots ho cut my way down , as i all ready have lot's of time on normal speed , i have to mention , when the road is wet or have litle durt in particulare on turning points , you would have to be very careful cos the power is quite a lot and makes spin it very quickly and trow your back as quick that you'll never will forget soon , actualy you have to drive it once on earth roads where it is safe to learn it by making a couple of drifts litle by litle , so you have knoledge of what speeding up can even be very useful to properly handel savely your vulcan , don't underestimate his power and chasing her back , i actualy love it and even when wet now i can handel it like a master and take turns drifting true the corners , yeahhhhh , never experience this with my other bikes , before i had a honda shadow 750 good but not as powerful as the Vulcan 750 is , sorry for my english writings faults , i am dutch speaking , drive save guy's , don't let your bike handeling your life , try to tame you bike as it is a lion 🦁greets from the Belgium ✌✌

    The engines are TOTALY difdernt. The 750 is a single crankpin V-twin like a Harley. The 500 is a parallel twin from the Ninja family.

    I had a 95 Vulcan 500 belt drive and a 2000 yr 750 shaft drive. That 500 was sweet. The 750 was like driving a tractor compared to that 500.

I had a 1993 Vulcan 500 for a few years and while I thought it was very nice and a great bike overall it didn't have as strong an acceleration from 0- 40mph as a Vulcan 750 I once rode and considered. That 750 felt like a raging bull. It was much louder though.

      Robert Clark yes the Vulcan 750 felt taller and heavier to me also and more like I was on top of it rather than lower and part of the Vulcan 500. My Vulcan 500 had quite decent power also but remember being pretty shocked at the torque and power of the 750 coming from my Rebel 250.

    I bought one with 9 thousand miles on it.... a thousand miles later, the drive shaft coupler stripped! I was pissed till i figured out how to fix it.....Now that Im riding it again, i thinking about keeping. She's a great running bike....Btw...pack that coupler with bearing grease since it's dry...why? i dunno,....

    However, one other thing that stood out to me, is the clarity of your voice in the recording. I doubt you did any editing to “dull” out the wind noise, can you share your helmet intercom setup?

    Why is the windscreen opaque? I have seen other bikes just like this brand new and the windshield is kind of opaque like that. That far just kind of annoying otherwise it's his dream bike

    Only Problem with that bike is the small gas tank. only get about 150 - 160 miles. I took mine one several 1500 mile plus trips
