I love her !! What a beautiful boat, full keel, classic lines - and ohhhhh my that bowsprit !!! She looks like she's going to be a wonderful boat for you. Congratulations.
yes it is. He was the second owner. I bought her from a younger man that did some work on her but had not finished his to do list, he bought her from Don's widow. She fit all the check boxes I wanted in a boat and the price was right. The electronics still work, but I do want a new plotter. Not sure all of them will stay either. I wanted a boat that I do some of the refitting myself (I had a specific list and she met it) as a great way to know and learn about your own boat. I love working on them. The only really big task that I am concerned about is that the rudder showed 48% on the moisture reader and had blisters pop up after sea trial. I will have to get her home and address the rudder issues. She is being shipped. I own 11 acres and hoping to drop her right in front of the wood shop. I have a huge Massy Ferguson tractor that my dad left me that will come in handy in getting the rudder mounts addressed. The lower the rudder bolts and plates appear to be original. Yes she needs a refit but it will be a great adventure for me. I am looking forward to it.
Great boat! How long to retirement? I have 4 years to get Alannah ready. She is not quite the blue water boat you have, just a small Island Packet but will do for the Bahamas and Caribbean. Seams we have the same dream, perhaps one day out paths will cross.
Island packets are my dream boat. hopefully in two years I will be in Bahamas on my own boat. I still have to get her home and start my refit. the previous owner did a lot of the heavy work like rigging but I want to take it even further. I want to turn her into a prestigious old girl and bring her back to her glory. Hopefully soon have her here in Texas
@@goofy4birds Mine as well but never thought I would find one I could afford until this little IP27 popped up on my radar. I thought it to small but went out look at it anyway and found her in great condition only 2 owners that maintained it well but did no mods or upgrades just like she left the factory but 39 years older and with a 10.5 foot beam and the bow sprit pushing LOA to 30 feet it didn't feel small at all.
Have you taken ownership yet? If so welcome to the Westsail family! SV Zaftra looks like she was outfitted and sailed some passages! Fair Winds and following seas - Makani ʻOlu a Holo Mālie SV Quimera, WS32 Hull #48 Mahalo for sharing, Aloha ✌️❤️🤙⛵️
Yes, I am going to visit her next week to winterize her just in case Florida gets some really freaky cold weather. I am hoping to have her shipped in December, but life happens and just making sure she will be ok if some reason it takes longer
The hull is in really good shape. I would be concerned about the cost to replace all of the electronics. And, does this boat have a onboard generator??
right now I have no need for a generator, I still have two years or more before retirement. She will be kept in a slip with water and power once I address some issues first. Later if I want one I may carry a small Honda, but may not as I plan on increasing her solar capabilities.
I am a previous owner of a Westsail. There is no need for a generator. The engine alternator can charge the batteries. Solar is inexpensive reliable and quiet.

Fantastic boat, congrats!
I know that boat. I went out on her to the Bahamas with a good friend and loved everything.
@@mountainmandale1587 cool. Do you have any old pics of her?
That is Don Johnson’s old boat! I met them in Vero, then again in Nassau, then in the Exumas and back in Vero years ago! He was a good man!
Yes it was. Gentleman I bought her from got her two years ago from his widow,

Wow are you gonna buy her?
yes I did, she is a new member of the family. I plan on making her look like a girls boat LOL
